     141.  Charles Everett5 LONGANECKER (Sarah4 Penny, Thomas3, John2, Henry1) was born 20 January 1864 in Ohio and married Clara Ellen BOND 17 March 1886 in Douglas County, Kansas. Clara, the daughter of Enos and Sally (Rohrer) Bond, was born 1 October 1866 in Lawrence, Douglas County.

     Charles and Clara and their family resided in Douglas County, Kansas through 1920 and Charles worked as a farmer and house carpenter. About 1921 he, his wife and two sons moved to Los Angeles County, California and in 1930 Charles and Clara resided in Pasadena and Charles worked as a carpenter for a builder.

     Known children of Charles Everett5 LONGANECKER and Clara Ellen BOND, both born in Douglas County, Kansas, were as follows:

                   397        i.    Clark Ephraim6 LONGANECKER was born 2 February 1887. He married Marjory [--?--] circa 1910 in Kansas where she was born circa 1892. In 1920 Clark was a farmer in Clinton Township, Douglas County, Kansas, but he and his family moved to California around 1921. They were in Pasadena, Los Angeles County in 1930 and Clark was a chauffeur for the city. The children of Clark and Marjory were Clifford E., born 10 December 1912 in Kansas and died 12 January 1988 at age 75; Thelma, born circa 1919 in Kansas, and David C., born 4 August 1921 in California and died 11 February 2005 at age 83.

                   398        ii.    Leonard Calvin LONGANECKER was born 3 April 1890 and died 23 October 1973 in Oakland, Alameda County, California at age 83. He married circa 1913 Effie D. [--?--] who was born circa 1888 in Colorado and they had eight children: Esta Morrice, born circa 1915 in Kansas; Everett C., a twin, born 24 September 1916 in Kansas and died in July 1984 at age 67; Earl L., a twin, born 24 September 1916 in Kansas and died in July 1976 at age 59; Raymond L., born 17 July 1918 in Kansas and died in September 1960 at age 42; Leonard, born 11 March 1921 in Kansas and died 30 August 1995 at age 74; Wilbur E., born 27 January 1924 in California and died 19 March 2007 at age 83; Ruth K.; and Delbert R., born 27 October 1927 in California and died in October 1989 at age 62. Leonard’s occupation in 1920 was farmer, but by 1930 he and his family were in San Gabriel Township, Los Angeles County, California and he worked as a carpenter for a builder.

 

     147.  Lawrence W.5 DITMER (Corilla4 Penny, Thomas3, John2, Henry1) was born 18 August 1872 in Miami County, Ohio and died 26 September 1953 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 81. He was buried in Old Ludlow Cemtery, Laura, Miami County. A farmer, Lawrence married Fannie Catherine LAMBERT 23 November 1896 in Miami County. Fanny was born 25 April 1878 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Sidenham and Emma Jane (Hossler) Lambert. She died 12 December 1937 in Miami County at age 59 and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemtery in Laura.

     Known children of Lawrence W.5 DITMER and Fannie C. LAMBERT, all born in Union Township, Miami County, Ohio, were as follows (out of birth order):

                   404        i.    Cleo L.6 DITMER was born 19 January 1899 and died 14 November 1962 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 62. He married Phoebe Viola WRIGHT  24 December 1922. Phoebe was born in Ohio 8 August 1902 and died 3 November 1993 at age 91. Her last known residence was Laura, Miami County, Ohio. Their known children were Lowell; and Richard, born 22 August 1928 and died 23 November 2004 in Dayton at age 76.

                   405        ii.    Walter Charles DITMER was born 23 March 1900 and died in March 1987 in Montgomery County, Ohio at age 87. He married  Mary Elizabeth HUNT 14 June 1922 in Miami County. The daughter of  Albert Lloyd and Sarah A. (Sharp) Hunt, Mary was born  17 May 1904 in Miami County and died at age 97 on  26 June 2001 in Montgomery County.

                   406       iii.    Vernon Leroy DITMER was born 25 December 1902 and died 7 November 1992 at age 89 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. His last known residence was Hillsboro, Highland County, Ohio. Vernon married 30 April 1922 Hazel Mae SATTERFIELD who was born 15 September 1903 in Ohio and died in March 1978 at age 74. They had a daughter Betty Jane and later divorced.

                   407       iv.    Freda DITMER was born circa 1905.

                   408        v.    Wilbur Sidney DITMER was born 14 August 1907 and died of tuberculosis 8 May 1929 at age 21 in Union Township, Miami County, Ohio. He was buried 11 May 1929 in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County.

                   409       vi.    Harold DITMER was born circa 1912.

                   410      vii.    Glenna DITMER was born circa 1914.

                   411      viii.   Opal DITMER was born circa 1915.

                               vi.    Russell Penny DITMER was born 10 July 1897 and died 27 October 1975 at age 78 in Indiana. His last known residence was Elkhart, Elkhart County, Indiana. Russell was a minister for Christ Church Mennonite Brethren in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio in the 1930 federal census. He married first 14 April 1918 Alpha Beryl MOORE, the daughter of William Howard and Wealthy Estella (Good) Moore, who was born 13 December 1897 in Adams County, Indiana and died 23 November 1918 in Marshall Township, Highland County,  Ohio at age 20. She was buried 25 November 1918 in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio. On 13 May 1920 Russell married Irene HUFFMAN, the daughter of Calvin Irvin and  Cora (Sando) Huffman. She was born 5 July 1900 in Pennsylvania and died in November 1983 in Indiana at age 83. The couple had children Arthur H., born 5 July 1921 in Ohio and died 19 August 2003 at age 82; Marlin E.; Ruth E.; and Robert D., born 16 August 1929 in Ohio and died 21 June 2005 at age 75.

 

          151.  Mialmer D. 5 HAWORTH (Sampson4, Sarah3 Penny, John2, Henry1) was born 5 May 1860 in Darke County, Ohio, and died in 1940 in Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin at age 80. He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery in that city. Mialmer married 28 December 1882 in Dow City, Crawford County, Iowa Elizabeth Graves COLE who was born 30 October 1864 in Iowa. She died 30 March 1951 in Superior at age 86 and was also buried in Greenwood Cemetery.

     Mialmer and family lived in Iowa until some time after 1902 when they moved to Douglas County, Wisconsin. They were found here in the 1920 federal census in Hawthorne, and in the 1930 census in Superior.

     Known children of Mialmer D.5 HAWORTH and Elizabeth Graves COLE, all born in Crawford County Iowa, except for Alpha Glenn, were as follows (out of birth order):

                   413        i.    Allen Webster6 HAWORTH was born 30 September 1883 and died 13 December 1921 at age 38 in Dow City, Crawford County, Iowa. He married Mabel SHARPE, the daughter of Brinton and Anna M. Sharpe, 14 March 1907 in Dow City. She was born in February 1889 in South Dakota. Allen and Mabel had children  Verona J., born circa 1908 in South Dakota; Floyd A., born circa 1910 in Iowa; and Thayne D., born circa 1915 in Iowa.

                   414        ii.    Clarissa Belle HAWORTH was born 5 April 1885 and died in 1953 in Charter Oak, Crawford County, Iowa at age 68. She married Elmer MCELWAIN, a farmer, 18 April 1904 in Crawford County. Elmer was born 5 May 1878 in Oakland, Pottawattamie County, Iowa, the son of Myron L. and Lydia (Muns) McElwain. Clarissa and Elmer had children: Myron D., born 28 March 1907 and died 12 December 1989 at age 81 in Washington; Loa B., born circa 1909; Vernon H., born 26 May 1910 and died 9 August 2005 at age 95 in Iowa; Edward Elmer, born 19 July 1912 and died 9 December 2008 in California at age 96, and Robert, all born in Willow Township, Crawford County, Iowa.

                   415       iii.    Jesse William HAWORTH was born 23 December 1886 and died 14 February 1967 in Worland, Washakie County, Wyoming at age 80. Circa 1908 he married Capatola Ione HOSKINS, the daughter of Ervin and Therese Hoskins, who were in Sauk County, Wisconsin in the 1900 federal census.  Capatola was born 20 April 1888 in either Iowa or Wisconsin, and died in October 1975 at age 87 in Beaverton, Washington County, Oregon. Their known children were Beulah, born circa 1911 in Iowa who married circa 1926 (--?--) MCNULTY but was divorced by 1930; a son Jessie Lavern, born 13 April 1917 in Minnesota and died in September 1972 at age 55; Ann Elizabeth, born circa 1921 in Minnesota, and a child named Laurel. In 1910 Jesse lived alone in Stanley County, South Dakota next to his sister Fannie V., who also lived alone. In 1920 he and his wife and children were enumerated in Foxhome, Wilkin County, Minnesota, and in 1930 were in Stanford Township, Isanti County, Minnesota.

                   416       iv.    Fannie Viola HAWORTH was born 21 December 1887 and died 21 February 1934 at age 46 in Douglas County, Wisconsin. She was buried in Greenwood Cemetery in that county. Fannie never married. In the 1910 federal census she was enumerated in three diffferent households: with her parents in Lyman County, South Dakota (enumerated April 20-22); living alone next door to her brother Jesse in Stanley County, South Dakota; Fannie was a farm manager (enumerated April 28-29; and living with her sister Clarissa McElwain and family in Crawford County, Iowa (enumerated May 11) By 1920 she lived with her parents in Hawthorne, Douglas County, and in 1930 she still lived in Hawthorne and was a servant in the Riverside Sanitarium there.

                   417        v.    Merle E. HAWORTH was born 15 October 1893 and died 14 February 1983 in Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin at age 89. He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Superior. Merle married Jennie Pauline RONNING 22 December 1913 in Superior and their known children were Wayne W., born 5 January 1915 and died 1 June 1994 at age 79 who was buried in Poplar Cemetery, Douglas County, Wisconsin; June B., born circa 1917; Allen O., born 10 November 1919 and died 18 December 1975 at age 56 who was buried in Hawthorne-Parkview Cemetery, Douglas County, Wisconsin; Merle E., Jr.; and Margorie L., born in 1919 and died in 1985 at age 56 who married Merwin G. MADER and was buried in Greenwood Cemetery. Jennie was born in November 1896 in Superior, the daughter of Haakon and Lena Ronning of Norway, and died in 1969 in Superior at age 73. She was buried in Greenwood Cemetery.

                   418       vi.    Arthur Sampson HAWORTH, known as Sam, was born 14 October 1896 and died in November 1953 in Hawthorne, Douglas County, Wisconsin at age 57 as a result of an automobile/train collision. He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, Douglas County. Arthur married Jessie A. CARLIN 11 July 1924. She was born 11 November 1900 in Wisconsin and died in that state 3 January 1998 at age 97. Jessie was buried in Greenwood Cemetery. Sam and Jessie had a son Calvin born circa 1924 who was buried in Hawthorne-Parkview Cemetery.

                   419      vii.    Harold Lavern HAWORTH was born 18 February 1899 and died in June 1963 at age 64 in Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin. He was buried in Hawthorne-Parkview Cemetery in Douglas County. On 19 December 1926 Harold married Charlotte WILLIAMS who was born 2 December 1910 and died 16 February 2003 at age 92. Her last known residence was Poplar, Douglas County. The couple had a son Douglas.

                              viii.    Alpha Glenn HAWORTH was born 13 September 1902 in Danbury, Woodbury County, Iowa and died 21 November 1981 at age 79 in Yucaipa, San Bernardino County, California. He married Irene KENT circa 1926 in Wisconsin. She was born circa 1906 in Wisconsin and she and Glenn, as he was known, had a daughter Lois L.

                              vii.    Myrtle HAWORTH was born 26 August 1889 and died 10 December 1891 at age 2.

 

     152.  Bascum S.5 HAWORTH (Sampson4, Sarah3 Penny, John2, Henry1) was born 27 May 1861 in Darke County, Ohio, and died in May 1946 in Galva, Ida County, Iowa at age 85. He was buried in Galva Cemetery. Bascom married Lucy BALCH circa 1883 in Iowa. She was born in 1863 in Minnesota, the daughter of John and Eunice Balch, and may have been name Almina Lucy. She died 10 July 1937 in Ida County at age 74. Lucy was buried in Galva Cemetery.

     Bascum held a variety of jobs including grain elevator operator, grocery store manager and nightwatchman.    

     Known children of Bascum S.5 HAWORTH and Lucy BALCH, all born in Iowa, were as follows:

                   420        i.    Clarence E.6 HAWORTH was born in June 1884.

                   421        ii.    John A. HAWORTH was born in May 1885 and married Alice [--?--] circa 1910. Alice was born circa 1885 in Iowa. Their known children were a daughter Phyllis, born circa 1918, and a son Burdette J., born 14 November 1922 and died in October 1965 at age 42, who was buried in Galva Cemetery. In the 1920 federal census John’s occupation was given as printer in a newspaper office.

                   422       iii.    Pearl E. HAWORTH was born in October 1887.

                   423       iv.    Nathaniel HAWORTH, known as Nate, was born 30 May 1889 and died in June 1973 in Iowa at age 84. His last known residence was Grand Junction, Green County, Iowa. Circa 1914 Nate married Eva (--?--) who was born circa 1895 in Iowa. Their known children, all born in Iowa, were Darrell, born circa 1915; Fay E., born circa 1916, and Will, born circa 1920. In 1930 the family resided in Mapleton, Monona County, Iowa where Nate was a laborer in a lumber yard.

                   424        v.    Hazel D. HAWORTH was born in August 1890.

                   425       vi.    Floyd B. HAWORTH was born in January 1893.

                   426      vii.    Dalton Cyrus HAWORTH was born 7 May 1895 and died 29 October 1993 at age 98 in California. His last known residence was San Francisco, San Francisco County, California 

                   Bascum and Lucy also adopted a son, Lloyd B., born 20 January 1912  and died in April 1986 at age 74.

 

     160.  Loren S.5 HAWORTH (Isaac4, Sarah3 Penny, John2, Henry1) was born 24 November 1868 in Miami County, Ohio, and died of a coronary, myocardial infarction 31 October 1940 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio at age 71. He was buried 4 November 1940 in Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. His son William's World War I draft registration record gave Loren's name as Lorenzo.

     Loren married Elizabeth T. JONES 21 February 1891 in Miami County. The daughter of Alexander and Anna (Jones) Jones, she was born 25 November 1870 in Ohio and died 21 November 1957 at age 86. Loren and Elizabeth and their family were in the 1920 federal census in Laura, Miami County where Loren was a teamster for a saw mill. By 1930 the family was in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio and Loren worked as a grounder for the Columbus Power and Light Company.

     Known children of Loren S.5 HAWORTH and Elizabeth T. JONES, all born in Ohio, were as follows:

                   427        i.    Mary6 HAWORTH was born in June 1892.

                   428        ii.    Amanda G. HAWORTH was born in September 1893.

                   429       iii.    Clara L. HAWORTH was born in March 1895.

                   430       iv.    Gladys M. HAWORTH was born 9 October 1897. Circa 1914 she married Paul FISHERBACK who was born in July 1896 in Hartford City, Blackford County, Indiana, the son of William S. and Cora (Daum) Fisherback.  They had a daughter Pauline Geneva, born 3 January 1916 and died 21 March 1916 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio, who was buried 23 March 1916 in Greenville Cemetery. The couple also had a son Paul, Jr. who was born circa 1918. Gladys and Paul divorced before 1920 and she and her young son were enumerated in the household of her parents in Greenville. On 23 June 1923 in Franklin County, Ohio Gladys married second Elgar Harry HARRIS who was born 13 June 1898 in Greenville, the son of William and Adda (Chipley) Harris. The couple with her parents in 1930 in Columbus, Franklin County and Elgar worked as a blacksmith.

                   431        v.    William Lewis HAWORTH was born 24 November 1899 and died 8 October 1982 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio at age 82. Circa 1929 he married Edith KINDELL in Greenville. She was born 4 April 1901 in Darke County, the daughter of David and Sarah (Byrd) Kindell, and died 7 January 1991 at age 89 in Greenville. In the 1930 federal census the couple resided in Greenville where William was proprietor of a restaurant.

                   432       vi.    Harry Wilbur HAWORTH was born 9 July 1901 and died 20 March 1927 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio at age 25. The cause of death was exhaustion with the contributing factor of pulmonary tuberculosis. At the time of his death harry was a blacksmith helper for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was buried 23 March 1927 in Greenville Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. On 9 June 1923 Harry married Anna M. TEGTMEYER, born 7 February 1904 in Ohio, and she, a widow, was enumerated with his parents in Columbus in the 1930 federal census. Anna was the granddaughter of Henry and Sophia Tegtmeyer.

                   433      vii.    Mildred HAWORTH was born circa 1904. She married Robert A. TAYLOR circa 1922 and they lived in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio in 1930. Robert was born circa 1901 in Ohio and was a blacksmith for the railroad. Their known children were Bobbie Jean and Bobbie Eugene.

 

     170.  Anna Etta5 HAWORTH (John4, Sarah3 Penny, John2, Henry1) was born 21 December 1871 in Darke County, Ohio, and died of lung cancer3 January 1954 at age 82 in Montgomery County, Ohio. She married John Henry BROWN 20 June 1889 in Darke County. John was born 18 May 1866 in Ohio, the son of Abijah and Sarah Ann (Mote) Brown, and died of chronic myocarditis 17 April 1927 at age 60 in Franklin Township, Darke County. John was buried 20 April 1927 in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg, Darke County.

     Known children of Anna Etta5 HAWORTH and John Henry BROWN, all born in Darke County, Ohio, were:

                   435        i.    Vernie Oscar6 BROWN was born 1 September 1889 and died 1 March 1959 at age 70 in Darke County, Ohio. He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Greenville, Darke County. Vernie married Charlotte Mae 'Lottie' DEVELBISS, the daughter of Edward and Emma Madora (Rose) Develbiss, 22 October 1910 in Darke County. Lottie was born 16 February 1893 in Butler Township, Darke County, and died 6 September 1990 at age 97. She was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery. Their children, both born in Darke County, were: Pauline Lavon, born 17 May 1911 and died 26 May 2004 at age 93 in California who married first Harold Alter HENDRICKSON and second Howard Moyer MCCLEECE; and Byron Winfield, born in 1917.                    

                                ii.    Hazel C. BROWN was born 1 September 1893 and married first in 1915 Orla James SWARTZ, the son of Daniel W. and Lucilla Swartz, who was born 19 April 1895 in Ohio. The couple divorced before 1942 and he died in July 1970 at age 75. Hazel married second  Ezra MYER in 1942, and third Osa M. GRAHAM in 1952. It is as Hazel Graham she died in June 1973 at age 79 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio.

                               iii.    Jennie Gladys BROWN was born 5 September 1898 and died 29 January 1986 in Pinellas County, Florida at age 87. She was buried in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg, Darke County, Ohio. Jennie married 14 August 1920 Stafford Tunis THROP, the son of Walter A.  and Birthie (Denise) Throp, who was born  24 October 1895 in Dallas County, Texas. He died 25 January 1985 in Lake County, Florida at age 89, and was buried in Mote Cemetery.

                               iv.    Helen Arlene BROWN was born 22 February 1909. She died  27 February 1965 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 56, and was buried in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg, Darke County, Ohio. Circa 1926 Helen married Christ KROPLIN who was born 8 March 1901 in Ohio, the son of Charles and Mary D. Kroplin, and died 17 August 1976 in Montgomery County at age 75. he was buried in Mote Cemetery.

                                v.    Ruth Ardith BROWN was born 5 November 1915 and died 16 December 1987 at age 72 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. She was buried in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg, Darke County, Ohio. On 8 February 1941 in Darke County she married Robert Viets CRAWFORD. He was born 26 January 1915 in Ohio and died 6 September 2003 in Dayton at age 88, and was buried in Mote Cemetery.

 

     178.  Caroline5 PENNY (John4, Richard3, John2, Henry1) was born 9 March 1867 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio. She was a twin to sister Adaline who died at the age of eight. Caroline died of pneumonia 2 February 1936 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio at age 68, and was buried 5 February 1936 in Newcomer Cemetery, Franklin Township.

     Caroline married Johnathan Perry NEFF, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Frantz) Neff, 23 March 1889 in Darke County. Perry, as he was known, was born 8 September 1864 in Montgomery County, Ohio and died of prostate cancer 6 April 1930 in Franklin Township, Darke County at age 66. He was buried 8 April 1930 in Newcomer Cemetery.

     Known children of Caroline5 PENNY and Johnathan Perry NEFF, all born in Darke County, Ohio, were as follows:

             436        i.    Sarah Elizabeth6 NEFF,  also known as Elizabeth, was born 26 March 1890, and died of chronic tuberculous laryngitis 25 October 1923 at age 33 in Greenville, Darke County. She was buried 28 October 1923 in Newcomer Cemetery, Franklin Township, Darke County. Elizabeth married Charles Omer FORROR 19 August 1911 in Darke County. He was born 14 January 1889 in Darke County, the son of Elam and Mary (Cook) Forror, and died 23 August 1981 in San Diego County, California at age 92. Sarah Elizabeth and Charles had a daughter Margaret E., born circa 1913 in Illinois; a son Joseph N., born 5 November 1914 in Ohio and died in California 27 September 1998 at age 83; and a son John W., born 13 June 1917 in Ohio and died 10 December 1969 at age 52 in San Diego County. After Sarah died Charles married Ardeth Sollenberger Conover, and in 1930 Charles and she and her son Kenneth Conover, her mother Susan, and Charles' three children lived in Dickinson Township, Manistee County, Michigan. Charles was a clergyman for the Church of the Brethren. Ardeth was born 17 March 1892 in Ohio, the daughter of Moses and Susan (Martin) Sollenberger, and died 11 May 1976 in San Diego County, California at age 84.

                   437        ii.    Herman Wesley NEFF was born 20 May 1893 and died 5 December 1968 at age 75. He was buried in Abbottsville Cemetery, Van Buren Township, Darke County, Ohio. Herman married Mary E. OLWINE circa 1913. She was born 10 December 1894, the daughter of John H. and Delilah (Oswalt) Olwine, and died 26 February 1996 at age 101. Her last known residence was Greenville, Darke County. Herman and Mary had two children, both born in Darke County: Lois, born 5 October 1915, who married [--?--] BAKER and died 18 January 1987 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 81; and Herman, Jr., born 1 August 1919, who married Mary Bess BEANE 6 August 1938. Herman, Jr. died 24 January 1997 in Darke County at age 77, and was buried in Abbottsville Cemetery. He was a farmer and bus driver for Franklin Monroe School System for 30 years.

                   438       iii.    Orville Edward NEFF was born 21 April 1895 and died of coronary disease 9 April 1936 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 40. He was buried 12 April 1936 in Newcomer Cemetery, Franklin Township, Darke County. About 1916 Orville married Nellie [--?--], who survived him. She was born circa 1893 in Ohio. Their children were Marvin, born circa 1917 and died 5 March 1970 in Montgomery County, and Lillian, born circa 1918. In 1930 the family resided in Laura, Miami County, Ohio.

 

     193.  Charles Arthur5 WRIGHT (Mary4 Penny, Richard3, John2, Henry1) was born 9 October 1865 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio. He died from the effects of a paralytic stroke 22 June 1943 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio at age 77, and was buried 24 June 1943 in Gettysburg Cemetery, Adams Township, Darke County.

     Charles married Amanda Belle BROWN, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Hoover) Brown of Pennsylvania, 26 March 1885 in Darke County. She was born 1 July 1865 in Montgomery County, Ohio, and died of auricular fibrillation 2 August 1946 in Greenville at age 81.  Amanda was buried 4 August 1947 in Gettysburg Cemetery. 

     Known children of Charles Arthur5 WRIGHT and Amanda Belle BROWN, all born in Darke County, Ohio, were as follows (out of birth order):

                   444        i.    Elsie L.6 WRIGHT was born in June 1889 and married Roy ROGERS. At the time of her father’s death in 1943 she resided in Stewart Valley, Saskatchewan, Canada.

                   445        ii.    Russell Lowell WRIGHT was born 4 February 1886 and married Lova Iona YOUNT 9 February 1908 in Miami County, Ohio. Lova, the daughter of William F. and Elvira (Jones) Yount, was born 9 April 1884 in Miami County. The couple moved to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada and had daughters Ruth W., Rhea M. and Ruby Ina.  Some time after 1943 Russell and Lova moved to British Columbia, Canada and it was here they both died, Lova 26 June 1968 at age 84 and Russell  31 October 1974 at age 88.

                   446       iii.    Mabel Jennette WRIGHT was born 5 September 1887 and married Jesse Boyd HISSONG circa 1907. In 1943 at the time of her father’s death she resided in Brookville, Montgomery County, Ohio. In 1910 and 1930 Mabel and Jesse lived in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio. Jesse was born  22 January 1887 in Darke County, the son of David and Ella (Richardson) Hissong, and died in January 1982 at age 75. His last known residence was Dayton, Montgomery County.

                   447       iv.    Marvel WRIGHT was born 30 July 1900 and died 15 April 1975 in Ohio at age 75. She married Orville Dewey KAUCHER circa 1917 in Darke County, Ohio and they had two sons: Harold E., born 1 September 1918 and died 21 May 1989 at age 70; and Bernard L., born 29 September 1921 and died in August 1982 at age 60 whose last known address was in Mercer County, Ohio. Orville was born 26 February 1899 in Ohio, the son of Michael P. and Minnie (Neff) Kaucher. He died in 1955 at age 56 and was buried in Snell Cemetery, Hillgrove, Darke County.

                   448        v.    Elmira L. WRIGHT was born 5 September 1897 and died at age 83 in September 1980. Her last known residence was Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. Circa 1920 Elmira married Walter Gilbert BAKER who was born 9 September 1894 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Known children were June M. and Jack C.. 

 

     196.  Clarence Delmont5 WRIGHT (Mary4 Penny, Richard3, John2, Henry1) was born 20 November 1872 in Darke County, Ohio. He died of a coronary occlusion 2 February 1947 in Adams Township, Darke County at age 74, and was buried 4 February 1947 in Gettysburg Cemetery, Adams Township. His name was given as Della C. per the 1910 federal census, Delly C. per the 1920 census, and Dellie per the 1930 census.

     Dellie married Rosannah HUNT 21 February 1891 in Darke County. Rosannah, the daughter of Harvey and Elizabeth (Haworth) Hunt, was born 2 February 1871 and died in October 1962 in Phoenix, Arizona at age 91.  She was buried in Gettysburg Cemetery.

     Dellie, Rosa, as she was known, and family lived on the farm where Dellie was born on the Gettysburg-Pitsburg Road. Lumber from his father’s saw mill was used in building the large home, barn and sheds on the farm. The farmhouse burned to the ground in 1923. A portion of the farm acreage was given to build the old Beech Church where Dellie was a Sunday school teacher.

     Known children of Clarence Delmont5 WRIGHT and Rosannah HUNT, all born in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio,  were as follows:

                   449        i.    Percy Carl6 WRIGHT, who went by the name Carl, was born 4 October 1892 and died 26 February 1975 in Washington, District of Columbia at age 82. Carl attended Ohio University in Athens and was studying aeromautics at the University of California when the United States entered Worl War I. He applied for pilot trainng and received a commision and pilot's rating at March Field in California. After the war he became a reserve officer pilot in the army, one of the few reservists to be on extended active duty between the two World Wars. His career as an army pilot ended abruptly when he crashed in 1932 while flying from Fort Riley, Kansas. Following retirement in 1933 he went to Washington, D.C. and worked until 1940 as a military affairs legislative liaison and then in civil service. Carl thought of a simplified way to assemble an electric motor, received a patent and around 1957 sold it to the Westinghouse Company on a royalty basis. Carl married first 12 May 1912 in Darke County Esther Garver FOURMAN who was born 25 March 1892 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of David and Alice (Garver) Fourman. The couple had a son Lowell Everett born 31 March 1914 and died 14 June 1980 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 66, who married Virginia Lucille SEARS 9 September 1939 in Darke County; and a daughter Barbara Naomi born 24 February 1916 and died 25 June 1995 in Lorain County, Ohio at age 79. Carl and Esther divorced and he married second circa 1924 Mildred BARTHOLOMEW. Carl was living in Takoma Park, Maryland in 1947 at the time of his father’s death.

                   450        ii.    Hobart Verl WRIGHT, called Verl, was born 18 August 1896 and died 6 October 1990 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio at age 94. He was buried in Gettysburg Cemetery, Adams Township, Darke County. Verl married Mary Catharine NISWONGER 8 September 1917 in Darke County. She was born 12 October 1895 in that county, the daughter of Jesse and Dora Niswonger, and died in April 1984 at age 88. She, too, was buried in Gettysburg Cemetery. Verl and Mary had three daughters: Thelma Eileen who married Gerald STUDEBAKER, Alice Jean, born 1 July 1922 and died 31 October 2009 at age 87 who married Robert WAGNER; and Carolyn Kay who married Richard WEHERLEY. Verl was employed by Frigidaire in Dayton and managed the tomato factory in Greenville. He served as mayor of Pitsburg, Darke County, and treasurer of the Franklin Monroe School Board. 

                   451       iii.    Mary Elizabeth WRIGHT was born 13 August 1898 and married Franklin Arthur ERISMAN 17 January 1918. Mary died 11 May 1992 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 93, and was buried 14 May 1992 in Gettysburg Cemetery, Adams Township, Darke County, Ohio. She was living in Vandalia, Montgomery County, Ohio in 1947 at the time of her father’s death. In 1990 when brother Verl died she resided in Englewood, Montgomery County, Ohio. Mary’s husband Frank, a tenant sharecropper and the son of Louis and Virginia “Jenny” (Bolton) Erisman, was born 12 November 1895 in Horatio, Darke County. He died 7 February 1968 at age 72, and was buried in Gettysburg Cemetery. The children of Mary and Frank were Margaret Louise who married Jack MUMMA; Arthur Eugene; Edith Marie who married Harley FISHER; and Jennyrose who married Norman DEAN.

                   452       iv.    Theodore Minor WRIGHT, known as Minor, was born 19 March 1903 and died in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona in 1970 at age 67. Minor married Mildred Estelle SPIDEL 22 March 1928 in Miami County, Ohio. She was born 13 February 1904 in Darke County, Ohio, the daughter of Jacob Calvin and Phoebe (Reeves) Spidel, and died in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio on 17 May 1981 at age 76. She was buried in Greenville Cemetery, Darke County. Their known children were Margaret Jane and Mona Carol.

                   453        v.    Robert Delmont WRIGHT was born 3 June 1910. He married first Ruth Elizabeth ISNOGLE and they had two children, Gayle, born 13 December 1934 and died 6 January 2007 in California at age72, and Pat. Robert married second Kathryn Mary HARRISON, the daughter of John Wilson and Elsie Muriel (Embrey) Harrison, 28 June 1942. She was born 6 February 1913 in California and died 5 November 2001 at age 88 in Santa Barbara County, California. Their children were Muriel Ann, Robert Ross and Monica Kay. Robert married last Cherry (--?--). Robert died 13 May 1990 in Lompac, Santa Barbara County, California at age 79. Surviving Robert was his wife Cherry. No children were named in his obituary.

                   454       vi.    Mae Nople WRIGHT was born 20 February 1914 and died 25 April 2009 at age 95 in Ohio. Her last known address was Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. She married Loren Mills HUSSEY, the son of Frank S. and Alice J. (Mills) Hussey, 18 May 1940. He had been married previously to Kathryn M. Garland and had children Inez K., Hugh G. and Olive Louise. Loren was born 24 May 1890 in Greenville and died 1 August 1957 at age  67.

                   455      vii.    Naomi Eileen WRIGHT was born 18 August 1916 and married Ralph W. HOCKER 3 April 1937. He was born 18 July 1916 in Darke County, Ohio, the son of John Wesley and Mamie Hocker, and died 27 January 1997 at age 80. Naomi and Ralph had a daughter Tammy Kay. Eileen lived in Greenville, Darke County at the time of her father’s death in 1947 and her brother Verl’s death in 1990.

 

     197.  Louvina Belle5 WRIGHT (Mary4 Penny, Richard3, John2, Henry1) was born 31 December 1874 in Darke County, Ohio. She died of tuberculosis 29 March 1910 in Greenville, Darke County at age 35, and was buried 31 March 1910 in Gettysburg Cemetery, Adams Township, Darke County.

  Louvina married Harry Grant RECK 2 March 1893 in Darke County, Ohio.  Harry, the son of Wilkins and Eunice B. (Hoover) Reck, was born 17 March 1868 in Darke County. He moved his family to Pessnant, Saskatchewan, Canada 1 April 1918 and this is where he died 9 October 1942 at age 74.  He was buried in Gettysburg Cemetery.

     Known children of Louvina Belle5 WRIGHT and Harry Grant RECK, all born in Darke County, Ohio, were as follows:

                   456        i.    Gladys Gaynelle6 RECK was born 23 October 1893 and died 19 October 1987 at 93. Gladys married Walter Samuel MENDENHALL 23 December 1913 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. Walter, the son of Charles and Laura (Dunkle) Mendenhall, was born 22 June 1893 in Frazeysburg, Muskingum County, Ohio, and died of a heart attack 26 June 1969 at age 76 in Ohio. He was a clergyman. The couple had children Mary Ellen, born 17 January 1913 and died 5 April 1990 at age 77 who married William Benjamin MURRAY 29 June 1935; Walter Samuel, Jr. who married Betty LAIRD 30 May 1942; and Glenna Louvina, born 19 August 1919 and died 15 September 1969 of cancer at age 50 who married James Nesser TAYLOR 21 June 1941.

                   457        ii.    Glenna B. RECK was born 14 August 1895 and died of peritonitis 15 October 1915 at age 20 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. She was buried 18 October 1915 in Gettysburg Cemetery, Adams Township, Darke County, Ohio.

                   458       iii.    Cecile Earle RECK was born 23 February 1898 and died of cervical cancer  8 October 1935 at age 37 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. She was buried 11 October 1935 in Gettysburg Cemetery, Adams Township, Darke County, Ohio. Cecile married Charles M. BAKER, the son of John and Sabina (Metcalf) Baker, 18 September 1916 in Greenville, Darke County. Charles, a machinist, was born 28 September 1896 in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio and died in Dayton in June 1973 at age 76. The couple had a son Charles M., Jr.

                   459       iv.    Helen G. RECK was born 26 April 1900, and died at age 23 of septic myocarditis 19 December 1923 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. She was buried 23 December 1923 in Gettysburg Cemetery, Adams Township, Darke County.

                   460        v.    Robert Francis RECK was born 28 December 1902. He married 11 March 1944 Violet Ruth MCWADE, the daughter of Archibald Elias and Annie Elizabeth (Lewis) McWade, who was born 13 May 1922 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Robert resided in Ontario, Canada.

                   461       vi.    Mary Geraldine RECK was born 2 March 1907 and married Kenneth James KENNEDY 30 November 1927. They lived in New Brunswick, Canada, and later in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada.

                              vii.    Dorothy Louvina RECK was born 10 December 1908. She married Clayton James IVAY 6 July 1933 in Southampton, Ontario, Canada.

 

     219.  Tobias Criber5 BURCH (Elmira4 Penny, John3, John2, Henry1) was born 10 January 1867 in Darke County, Ohio and died 1 October 1948 in Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan at age 81. He was buried in Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.

     Tobias married Irena Melinda WOOTEN 12 January 1887 in Paulding County, Ohio. Irena was born 27 February 1867 in Darke County, Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Sarah Wooten, and died 20 February 1942 in Okemos at age 74. She was buried in Glendale Cemetery. In the federal census of 1900 Tobias, Irena and family were in Marseilles Township, Wyandot County, Ohio where Tobias was a stone cutter. By 1920 the family resided in Ingham County, Michigan.

          Known children of Tobias Criber5 BURCH and Irena Melinda WOOTEN were as follows:

                   466        i.    Ora Elwood6 BURCH was born 26 January 1888 in Paulding County, Ohio and died in May 1967 in Ingham County, Michigan at age 79. He was buried in Gunnisonville Cemetery, Gunnisonville, Clinton County, Michigan. Ora married first 9 September 1909 in Trenay, Algier County, Michigan Goldie Fay COKONOUGHER, the daughter of John and Etta (Case) Cokonougher. She was born in 1893 in Paulding County and in the 1910 federal census the couple was enumerated in Dewitt Township, Clinton County, Michigan, next to Ora' parents and siblings. Their children were Daniel W., born 4 July 1910 and died in November 1962 at age 52, who was buried in Gunnisonville Cemetery; and Lester L., born 6 April 1914 and died in August 1986 at age 72, who also was buried in Gunnisonville Cemetery. Goldie died in 1914 at age 21 and was buried in Gunnisonville Cemetery. Ora married 17 March 1921 in Ingham County Mabel R. BALCOM, the daughter of John and Frances (Cook) Casper, who was born in November 1896 in Michigan. The marriage record indicated that she had been married previously once and Ora twice, but the name of his second wife is not known.

                   467        ii.    Myra Marilla BURCH was born 27 December 1889 in Ohio and died 25 November 1956 in Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan at age 66. Myra married Harley Elwood COKONOUGHER 12 July 1907 in DeWitt Township, Clinton County, Michigan. He was born 10 July 1886, the son of John and Mary (Purtee) Cokonougher. Known as Elwood, he died 1 July 1966 in Lansing, Michigan at age 79. Myra and Elwood had 12 children: Charles, born and died in 1908; Iva Irene, born 8 September 1909 and died 28 April 1982 at age 72 who married Harvey Roy DONLEY 8 February 1926; Ruby Louise, born 10 May 1912 and died 10 January 1970 at age 57 who married Joseph Edgar TRAVIS 8 August 1929; John, born 14 January 1914 and died 26 March 1919 at age 5; Howard Elsworth, born 24 June 1918 and died in Arizona 17 February 2002 at age 83 who married Frances C. KYSER 8 June 1939; Pauline Doris; Harley Elwood, born 1 July 1923 and died 28 December 1999 at age 76 who married Mary Lois WILLERT; Calvin Gustaves, born 17 November 1925 and died in Kentucky 15 August 1996 at age 70 who married Shirley M. DULONG; Roy Donald, born 22 January 1927 and died 4 February 1998 at age 71 who married Grace Elizabeth WILLIS;  Morris Allen, born 25 May 1929 and died 13 April 2008 at age 78 who married Dorothy VOSS; Geraldine, born  20 December 1930 and died 3 May 1931;  and Joseph, born  3 July 1933 and died 3 September 1934.

                   469       iv.    Mary Alice BURCH was born 24 September 1898 in Paulding County, Ohio and died in April 1973 at age 74. She married William C. MCCASLIN, the son of  James and Mary (Voorhis) McCaslin, 27 December 1915 in Charlotte, Eaton County, Michigan. William was born 20 May 1886 in Ohio and died in February 1966 in Michigan at age 79. The couple had children Benson, Glenn and Dorothy.

                                v.    Edna Lela BURCH was born 5 September 1901 in Paulding County, Ohio and died in December 1983 in Ingham County, Michigan at age 83. She married  Richard Loyd CHRISTIAN 21 March 1921 in Eaton Rapids, Ingham County. Richard was born 4 October 1894 in Leroy Township, Ingham County.

                               vi.    Calvin BURCH was born 11 May 1904 in Indiana and died in August 1977 at age 73. His last known residence was Onondaga, Ingham County, Michigan. Circa 1926 Calvin married Doris (--?--) who was born 1 March 1909 in Ohio and died in July 1985 at age 76.

                              vii.    Maurice BURCH was born 1 April 1905 in Michigan and died in October 1984 at age 79. Circa 1927 he married Myrtle A. (--?--) who was born 13 January 1906 and died 10 April 1998 at age 92. Their last known residence was Holt, Ingham County, Michigan.

 

     228.  Joseph W.5 PENNY (Liberty4, John3, John2, Henry1) was born 11 June 1873 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio and died 28 December 1949 in at age 76. He was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio.

     Joseph married Luzena May YOUNT, more commonly known as Lulu, 19 April 1894 in Miami County. Lulu, the youngest daughter of Joseph and Nancy (Capron) Yount, was born 7 May 1874 in Laura, and died of tuberculosis of the throat 28 November 1914 in Greenville, Darke County at age 40.  She was buried 2 December 1914 in Greenville Cemetery, Darke County. 

     Lulu had a daughter Sylvia Coral, born 10 December 1890, whose father was Oliver P. Sharp. It would appear she was born out-of-wedlock. Coral, as she was known, was enumerated with Joseph and Lulu in the 1900 federal census. She married William Anthony Althaus some time between 1910 and 1918 and they had a son William D., born circa 1919. Coral died of pulmonary tuberculosis 30 March 1927 at age 36, and was buried 2 April 1927 in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. William Althaus, her husband, was born 19 August 1893 in Greenville, and died in July 1972 at age 78.

     Joseph was a farmer and a contractor. After Lulu died he married 4 December 1917 in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio Drilla Mae WYAN who was born 16 February 1878 in Auburn, De Kalb County, Indiana, the daughter of James and Martha (Creech) Wyan. Drilla had been married twice previously. She married first Charles Rufus Hughes 15 November 1894 in Darke County and they had three children: James Richard, born 9 September 1897; Evelyn Marie, born 18 November 1898 and died 22 December 1941 at age 42, who never married; and Robert Glen, born circa 1899. Drilla and Charles, a locomotive engineer who was born 20 June 1873 in Ohio, divorced and on 13 March 1906 in Darke County she married second Russell Omer Slonaker, the son of Jack and Eliza Anne (Reck) Slonaker, who was born 22 October 1882 in Ohio. The two divorced between 1910 and 1920 and Russell, like Drilla, remarried. He died of heart disease 29 April 1934 in Adams Township, Darke County at age 51. Drilla, her third husband Joseph, and her daughter Eva Marie Hughes were enumerated in Tippecanoe City, Miami County, Ohio in the 1930 federal census. Joseph was a truck driver. Drilla died of broncho-pneumonia 9 August 1939 at age 61 in Preble County, Ohio, and was buried 11 August 1939 in Greenville Cemetery.

     Known children of Joseph W.5 PENNY and Luzena May YOUNT, both born in Miami County, Ohio, were as follows:

                   470        i.    Howard Joseph6 PENNY was born 8 September 1895. He enlisted in the military on 19 December 1917 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. A letter he wrote from France where he was serving as a Corporal in Company B, 308th Engineers, American Expeditionary Forces (WWI) was published in a local newspaper. He was honorably discharged from service 7 July 1919. Howard died of pulmonary tuberculosis 8 October 1936 at age 41 in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona and was buried 9 October 1936 in Yuma, Yuma County, Arizona. According to his death certificate he was a tool dresser and had lived in Yuma for 12 years, although neither he nor his wife Clara can be found in the 1930 federal census.

                   471        ii.    Raymond Austin PENNY was born 26 April 1898. He enlisted in the military in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio on 16 June 1918. A letter he wrote from Paris Island, South Carolina where he had been assigned to the non-commissioned officers school for the Marines was published in a local newspaper. Ray was discharged from service 4 October 1919 and in 1920 appeared on the federal census in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, a lodger working as a cash register mechanic. On 1 January 1921 in Michigan he married Clara Lena SCHULTZ, who was born 22 June 1902 in that state. The couple had a daughter Coral Caroline, born 18 November 1921 and died 3 October 2010 at age 88 in Charlevoix, Charlevoix County, Michigan, who married Virginio 'Gino' PELLICCI in 1942 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan; and a son Howard J.  In 1930 Ray and family lived in Hazel Park, Royal Oak Township, Oakland County, Michigan where he worked for an auto body company. Clara died 8 November 1957 in Michigan at age 55, and Ray died 6 December 1958 in that state at age 60.    

 

     237.  Rosa Viola5 PENNY (Harvey4, John3, John2, Henry1) was born 2 June 1863 in Darke County, Ohio. She died 8 December 1938 in Pitsburg, Darke County at age 77, and was buried 11 December 1938 in Pleasant Hill CemeteryPleasant Hill, Miami County, Ohio.

     Rosa married John Coppock WAYMIRE 10 January 1880 in Darke County. John was born 29 May 1857 in that county, the son of Daniel and Marilla (Weaver) Waymire. He died 6 October 1947 in Liberty Township, Darke County, Ohio at age 90, and was buried 8 October 1947 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In the 1910 federal census Rosa and John acknowledged having had 12 children, 11 living.

     Known children of Rosa Viola5 PENNY and John Coppock WAYMIRE, all born in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio, were as follows:

                   475        i.    Maude May6 WAYMIRE was born 15 October 1880 and died 13 May 1962 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 81. She was buried 17 May 1962 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Tipp City, Miami County, Ohio. Maude married Otto SCHMERMUND 18 February 1899 in Darke County, Ohio. Otto was born 12 March 1876 in Darke County, the son of Adam J. and Rigga (Schelland) Schmermund. He died of lymphosarcoma 11 May 1950 at age 74, and was buried 13 May 1950 in Potsdam Cemetery, Union Township, Miami County. The couple had a daughter Mabel Dorothy born 13 May 1899; and a son Ray E. born 13 November 1901 and died 12 September 1958 at age 56.

                   476        ii.    Luther Daniel WAYMIRE was born 23 December 1881 and died 15 July 1966 at age 84 in Union, Montgomery County, Ohio. He was buried in Minnich Cemetery in Union. On 14 August 1904 in Darke County Luther married Mina CISSNER, the daughter of Jacob and anna (Fodders) Cissner, who was born 23 August 1885 in Darke County, Ohio. Mina died in 1970 at age 85 and was buried in Minnich Cemetery. Their known children, all born in Randolph Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, were: Lester Elgin, born 24 June 1905 and died 5 September 1969 at age 64 in Montgomery County; Harold Maris, born 10 October 1911 and died 18 October 1915 at age 4; Roscoe DeWitt, born 14 April 1914 and died in 1995 at age 81, who married Hazel I. HILDEBRAND in 1933; Charles Robert, born 26 January 1915 and died 4 July 1974 at age 59; John Edward, born 8 November 1917 and died in September 1983 at age 65; Esther Dorothy, born 27 February 1921 and died 2 June 1977 at age 56, who married Walter LOWERY; Luther Daniel, Jr.; Richard E., born 4 January 1925 and died 28 July 1968 at age 43; and Kenneth Eugene, born 22 February 1931 and died 2 April 1998 at age 67. Luther, Sr. was a farmer, and by 1920 worked as a house painter.

                   477       iii.    Mary Jane 'Jennie' WAYMIRE was born in February 1883 and married John Samuel HART 29 July 1903 in Darke County, Ohio. He was born 15 January 1880 in Randolph Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, the son of Arthur and Clara (Brumbaugh) Hart, and died 4 January 1973 at age 93 in Union, Montgomery County.                    478       iv.    Jacob Henry WAYMIRE was born 17 July 1884 and died 13 December 1958 in Miami County at age 74. He was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Miami County. On 4 November 1905 Jacob married Martha May BROWN, the daughter of George and Martha Brown, who was born 27 October 1888 in Darke County, Ohio and died of myocarditis 27 June 1927 in Union Township, Miami County at age 38. She was buried 30 June 1927 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The couple had 10 daughters: Pearl Mae, born 24 July 1906 and died 19 September 1972 at age 66 who married John H. BRANDENBURG; Margaret Lucille, born 14 February 1908 and died 23 April 1908; Eunice Fay, born 9 July 1909 and died 28 April 1996 at age 86 who married Delbert C. BREESE; Callie Marie, born 12 February 1912 and died 22 February 1945 at age 33 of a coronary embolism following a difficult childbirth (daughter also died) who married Donald WEIKERT; Mary Irene, born 24 April 1914 and died 20 October 1986 at age 72 who married Charles A. NORRIS; Gladys Geraldine, born 29 September 1916 and died 15 March 1931 at age 14 of a leakage of the heart; Grace Viola, born 17 February 1919 and died 12 July 1954 at age 35 who married Leroy FRY; Treva Elaine, born 27 August 1921 and died 14 January 2006 at age 84 who married Ernie BARTON, and Janice Maxine, who married Paul Edward PICKETT.

                   479        v.    Susannah WAYMIRE was born 31 March 1886 and died 24 November 1956 at age 70 in Montgomery County, Ohio.  Susannah married Samuel  M. STRAWSER 2 April 1908 in Darke County, Ohio. Samuel , the son of George Riley and Delilah (Soltz) Strawser, was born 18 November 1879 in Fayette County, Ohio and died of a coronary occlusion 18 January 1951 in Brookville, Montgomery County at age 71. He was buried 21 January 1951 in Arlington Cemetery, Clay Township, Montgomery County.  Their children were George William, born 6 April 1909 and died 14 May 1968 at age 59, who married Naomi HUNT; Virgil C., born  26 April 1913 and died 5 January 1989 at age 75, who married Mildred HOFACKER; Ruth Ann, born 16 June 1915 and died 31 December 1991 at age 76, who married Luther COX; Hazel Irene, born in 1922 and died 25 March 2001 at age 79, who married Russel HAUPT; and Clifford Ray, born 15 March 1927 and died 1 February 1980 at age 52, who married Gladys REMEY.

                   480       vi.    Eliza Alice WAYMIRE was born 18 January 1888 and died of bronchial pneumonia 21 February 1920 in Phillipsburg, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 32. She was buried  24 February 1920 in Bethel Cemetery, Phillipsburg. On 12 March 1910 Eliza married Otis Lee SENSENBAUGH, the son of Andrew Jacob and Anna May (Moyer) Sensenbaugh, who was born  9 March 1889 in Darke County. After Eliza's death Otis married her sister Sadie (see #483 below). The couple had children Lloyd Andrew, born 20 January 1911 and died 9 November 2004 at age 93 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, who married Minnie KLEY; Mary Esther born circa 1913; Albert Dale, born 10 June 1914 and died 14 May 1992 in Dayton at age 77, who married Evelyn Elizabeth MYERS; and Mabel Lucille, born 7 November 1916 and died 13 December 2004 in Montgomery County at age 88, who married Robert Gale SIMMONS. After Eliza's death Otis married her sister Sadie (see #483 below for details) Otis was married a third time on 7 April 1946 to Margaret E. Powell in Englewood, Montgomery County, Ohio.  She was born 26 January 1902 and died 4 April 1964 at age 62. Otis died 25 July 1978 at age 89.

                   481      vii.    John Harvey WAYMIRE was born 17 March 1890 and died 29 December 1958 at age 68 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. On 3 December 1921 he married Mary Catharine THOMPSON who was born 3 August 1903 in Newton Township, Miami County, Ohio, the daughter of Otis Lee and Cora May (Marshall) Thompson She died at age 91 on 31 October 1994 in Darke County. Their known children, all born in Darke County, were Melvin; Richard, born 9 May 1924 and died in February 1980 at age 55 who never married; Versa Lee, born 28 October 1926 and died 27 March 1990 at age 63, and Mabel Irene. 

                   482      viii.    Emma E. WAYMIRE was born 9 January 1893. She died 26 June 1984 at age 91 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio, and was buried 29 June 1984 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Miami County, Ohio. Emma married Frank Spitler GARRISON 22 January 1910 in Darke County. Frank was born 17 February 1889 in that county and died there 25 July 1972 at age 83. He was buried 27 July 1972 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.Their children were Harold E., born 22 January 1911 and died 4 September 1982 in Darke County at age 71, who married Dollie HARTMAN and Margaret Ford STEVENS; Dorothy L., born 2 March 1913 and died 12 February 1980 at age 66, who married Paul M. HAWN; and John Nolen, born 5 March 1915 and died 6 August 1992 at age 77, who was buried in Abbottsville Cemetery, Van Buren Township ,Darke County.

                   483       ix.    Sadie WAYMIRE was born 9 May 1895 and died of peritonitis due to a ruptured appendix 3 February 1941 at age 45 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. She was buried 6 February 1941 in Bethel Cemetery, Phillipsburg, Montgomery County. Sadie married her sister Eliza's widower Otis Lee SENSENBAUGH  22 March 1922 in Englewood, Montgomery County (see #480 above for details). They had children Paul Stanley who married Mary Louise HOPKINS; Ohmer William, born 11 February 1925 and died 24 November 2009 at age 84, who married Barbara Louise GODDARD 3 November 1945 in Fort Arkinson, Jefferson County, Wisconsin; and Viola May who married Charles Eugene KECKLER.

                   484       x.    James Sylvester WAYMIRE was born 9 January 1899 and died 25 February 1972 at age 73. On 27 October 1923 in Butler County, Ohio he married Mildred MCKHANN, who was born 26 October 1900 in German Township, Darke County, Ohio, the daughter of James and Minnie (Scaggs) McKhann. She died at age 77 on 13 November 1977.Their known children were Phyllis June, born 18 August 1922 and died 13 March 2003 at age 80, who married Raymond Edward ZELLER; Vivian J. who married Glen Roland FOURMAN; and a son J. C. 

                   485       xi.    Elmer WAYMIRE was born 9 June 1903. He died of pneumonia and influenza 15 October 1918 in Franklin Township, Darke County at age 15, and was buried 18 October 1918 in Pleasant Hill CemeteryPleasant Hill, Miami County, Ohio.

                                x.    Leroy WAYMIRE was born 16 July 1904 and died in August 1904.

 

     252.  Harley Delphos5 PENNY (Daniel4, Elisha3, John2, Henry1) was born 14 April 1881 in Darke County, Ohio and died 2 January 1970 in Miami County, Ohio at age 88. His last known residence was Piqua, Miami County. Circa 1899 Harley married Lucy J. DAGUE, the daughter of  Phillip and Chloe (Robison) Dague, who was born 18 June 1883 in Ohio and died of a myocardial infarction 18 June 1953 in West Milton, Miami County at age 70. She was buried 20 June 1953 in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton. Harley and Lucy divorced after 1930 and he married second Garnet Naomi FISHER, the daughter of Harry and Mary Alice (Crowl) Fisher. She was born 20 January 1904 in Miami County and married first Fred Davis Gingrich, the son of W.C. and Alma (Davis) Gingrich, 27 June 1923 in Miami County. The couple resided in West Milton, Miami County in the 1930 federal census. Garnet died 20 April 1988 in Troy, Miami County at age 84 and was buried in Highland Cemetery, Covington, Miami County. Harley and Garnet had a son Garphos Ronald, born 15 June 1933 and died of encephalitis 26 March 1936 at age 2 years, 9 months and 11 days. He was buried in Highland Cemetery.

                   496        i.    Harold D.6 PENNY was born circa 1901 and died 2 May 1962 in Miami County, Ohio. He married Delphia M. RANDALL, the daughter of Harrison T. and Clara B. (Anderson) Randall, 29 September 1923 in Miami County. She was born 27 March 1902 in that county, and died there 22 February 2000 at age 97. In the 1930 federal census  Harold and Delphia were enumerated in West Milton, Miami County and Harold was an inspector for National Cash Register Company in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio.

                   497        ii.    Mercedes I. PENNY was born 4 March 1904 in Ohio and died in Charlotte County, Florida 6 March 1989 at age 85. On 27 February 1927 in Miami County she married Ralph E. LAMBERT, the son of Horatio Seymour and Emma (Cruea) Lambert, who was born 15 May 1892 in Ohio and had been married first at age 21. In the 1930 federal census he was enumerated as a dentist in West Milton, Miami County, Ohio as was his father. Ralph died 13 October 1980 in Sarasota County, Florida at age 88.

                   498       iii.    Ned W. PENNY was born 15 November 1914 and died 30 July 1989 in Dayton, Montgomery County at age 74. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton, Miami County, Ohio. Ned was an employee of National Cash Register Company in Dayton for 32 years, and a veteran of World War II. He married Annabelle W. KIPPER, daughter of Carl and Margaret (Morris) Kipper. She was born 12 May 1916 and died 1 December 2003 in Troy, Miami County at age 87. Annabelle, too, was buried in Riverside Cemetery. Ned and Annabelle had two daughters and a son.  

 

     310.  Sylvester Henry5 PENNY (Thomas4, John3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 26 June 1860 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio and died 3 May 1929 in Laura, Miami County, Ohio at age 68. The cause of death was paralysis of the lower extremities and heart lesions. He was buried 5 May 1929 in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County.

     Sylvester, who was called Buck by his family and friends, was proprietor of a lumber mill in Laura in the 1910 census. In his life he also worked as a teamster and a farmer. He became a Quaker in 1898 and remained in that faith until his death. Sylvester married Martha Elizabeth LAMSDALE, daughter of William and Mary (Firth) Lamsdale of England, 1 July 1882 in Miami County.  Mattie, as she was called, was born 18 December 1862 in Jackson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio.  She died of lung cancer 19 March 1951 in Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio at age 88, and was buried 22 March 1951 in Old Ludlow Cemetery.

                   524       iv.    Mary Ellen PENNY was born 18 September 1893 in Ohio. She died 5 May 1981 in Ohio at age 87, and was buried 8 May 1981 in Holp Cemetery, Farmersville, Montgomery County, Ohio.

Mary Ellen, who was called Mamie, married Jesse Cameron COOK circa 1914 in Ohio. They had no children. Jesse was born 23 June 1884 in Ohio, the son of John A. and Sarah Eva (Apple) Cook, and died 21 July 1956 at age 72. He was buried 24 July 1956 in Holp Cemetery. According to The History of Laura, "1929 brought Jess and Mary (Penny) Cook back to her girlhood village. This was the year of the great stock market crash, but Jess got around it with a substantial inheritance. Instead of using banking facilities which weren't very safe at that point, he put the money in crocks closing them with sealing wax. No one was the wiser as food stuffs were somewhat still being preserved in this manner. During these days, Jess displayed his extravagance by setting a match to $5.00 bills, lighting his cronies' cigars."

     311.  Mary Etta5 PENNY (Thomas4, John3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 10 April 1865 in Darke County, Ohio and died of albuminemia and mitral stenosis 28 May 1916 in Union Township, Miami County, Ohio at age 50. She was buried 1 May 1916 in Potsdam Cemetery, Union Township, Miami County.

          Mary Etta married Noah Wendell DITMER 22 September 1886 in Darke County. Noah, the son of John M. and Elizabeth (Minnich) Ditmer, was born 26 May 1863 in Darke County and died of a cerebral hemorrhage 23 June 1951 in Staunton Township, Miami County at age 88. He was buried 25 June 1951 in Potsdam Cemetery. Noah's brother John married Emma Penny, the sister of Mary Etta. In the federal census of 1920 Noah lived in the household of his son Jesse in Troy, Miami County. In 1930 he was in the household of his son Delbert in West Milton, Miami County.

                   528        i.    Jesse Leo6 DITMER was born 25 January 1888 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio and died of coronary heart disease 3 December 1939 in Troy, Miami County at age 51. He was buried 6 December 1939 in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. On 5 October 1908 in Miami County Jesse married Emma Caroline SARING, the daughter of John P. and Mary Amanda (Pearson) Saring, who was born in August 1887 in Ohio. Known children of Jesse and Emma were Lucille Mary, born 3 February1911 who married Ralph H. SPHAR 10 May 1926 in Miami County and divorced him before 1930; Mildred Magdalene, born circa 1915 who married Charles Clarence COX 25 May 1931 in Miami County; Ruth Eileen, born 23 February 1919 and died 3 February 2002 at age 82 in Troy, Miami County; Noah Eugene, born 16 August 1923 and died 1 July 1998 at age 74 in Miami County, who married Esther YOUNG in 1946, and Gerald Joseph, born 10 February 1925 and died 15 February 2002 at age 77 in Miami County. In the 1930 federal census Jesse was a machinist for a trailer manufacturer. On his death certificate his marital status was divorced.

                   529        ii.    Claude Ray DITMER was born 6 November 1889 in Pitsburg, Darke County, Ohio and died 4 November 1972 in Santa Clara County, California at age 82.  He married Opal L. GAULT 15 May 1912 in Miami County. Opal was born 8 August 1891 in Ohio, the daughter of John Pearley and Nora E. (Pansing) Gault, and died 11 March 1957 in San Diego County, California at age 65. Claude and Opal had a daughter Helen Aileen, born 29 March 1916 and died 28 February 1970 in San Jose, Santa Clara County, California at age 53; and a son Lowell Argyle, born 14 September 1917 and died 3 October 1984 at age 67 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Both children were born in Dayton.

                   530       iii.    Delbert Cassius DITMER was born 7 July 1893 in Potsdam, Miami County, Ohio. He died of peritonitis following an appendectomy 24 May 1930 in Piqua, Miami County at age 36, and was buried 26 May 1930 in Potsdam Cemetery. Delbert married 26 April 1918 in Miami County Anna BERCHTOLD, the daughter of Edward and Louisa (Koetitz) Berchtold.  Anna was born 13 September 1885 in Ohio. She was married first 13 April 1912 in Miami County to James E. Morgan, the son of John E. and Emma (Smith) Morgan, and they had two daughters: Dorothy M., born circa 1913, and Quella M., born circa 1915. Delbert, Anna and family, including his two step-daughters, resided in West Milton, Miami County, Ohio in the 1920 and 1930 federal censuses. In 1930 Delbert was a bus driver for a utilities company. Known children of Delbert and Anna, all born in Miami County, were Robert D., Inez I., Howard C., and Kenneth E. Anna died in December 1975 at age 90. Her last known address was Sidney, Shelby County, Ohio.

 

     313.  William C.5 PENNEY (Thomas4, John3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 16 November 1869 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio. He died 18 April 1936 in Christiansburg, Champaign County, Ohio at age 66 of angina pectoris, and was buried 20 April 1926 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Miami County. He and his children appear to have used fairly consistently the surname spelling 'Penney.'

     On 28 February 1889 in Darke County, Ohio William married Blanche Ellen BROWN, who was born 1 April 1870 in Bradford, Miami County, the daughter of Charles and Sarah (Corey) Brown. She died of chronic myocarditis 17 March 1951 in Troy, Miami County at age 80, and was buried 20 March 1951 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. William was a farmer and in the federal censuses of 1900, 1910 and 1920 he, Blanche and their children lived in Concord Township, Miami County.  In the federal census of 1930 the family was in Jackson Township, Champaign County.

He died of bronchial asthma 21 October 1933 in Champaign County, Ohio at age 43 and was buried 23 October 1933 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Miami County, Ohio. His name was given as Glen in the 1900 census, Forrest in the 1920 census, and Glen F. in the 1930 census. Forest never married.

                   535       iii.    Bessie Irene PENNEY was born 3 October 1893 in Newton Township, Miami County, Ohio. On  19 March 1911 in Miami County she married Charles Thomas SAUL, the son of  Charles Robert and Martha Anna (Bowman) Saul, who was born  24 August 1889 in Rocky Mount, Franklin County, Virginia. Bessie died 19 August 1912 at age 18 in Troy, Miami County, likely in connection to the birth of their daughter Hilda T., born in 1912.

                   536       iv.    Lowell PENNEY was born 31 August 1895 in Newton Township, Miami County, Ohio and died 9 October 1964 at age 69. He was buried in Casstown Cemetery, Lostcreek Township, Miami County. Lowell, who also went by the name Jake, married Blanche ADAMS 6 June 1925 in Miami County. Blanche was born circa 1903 in Ohio, the daughter of Milton and Metta (Chestnut) Adams. According to the 1930 federal census Lowell was a jeweler in Troy, Miami County. Lowell and Blanche had two daughters and divorced some time after 1930.

                   537        v.    Harry William PENNEY was born 30 March 1900 in Concord Township, Miami County, Ohio. On 15 February 1922 in Miami County he married Angie M. SCHAFFNER, the daughter of Walter E. and Lydia J. (Neisonger) Schaffner, who was born 18 December 1901 in Troy, Miami County and died in that city 8 August 1992 at age 90. In the 1930 federal census Harry and Angie lived in Troy and he was a truck driver.

                   538       vi.    Helen M. PENNEY was born 15 June 1902 in Concord Township, Miami County, Ohio and died there of cholera 10 September 1902.

                   539      vii.    Iris E. PENNEY was born 19 September 1910 in Concord Township, Miami County, Ohio and died in October 1982 at age 72. Her last known residence was Troy, Miami County. Iris married (--?--) SCHMIDT and lived in Troy in 1965 at the time of her brother Charles’ death.

 

     318.  Olive5 THOMPSON (Emeline4 Penny, John3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 12 January 1853 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio. She died 22 December 1927 in Ouatanna, Potter County, South Dakota at age 74, and was buried 25 December 1927 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Le Grand, Marshall County, Iowa.

     Olive married Newell Marcus CROFUTT 26 January 1871 in Marshall County, Iowa. Newell, the son of Ezra and Olive Eudorah (Parks) Crofutt and brother to Fanny who married Olive’s brother William, was born 27 February 1853 in New Milford, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, and died 24 January 1899 in Le Grand, Marshall County, Iowa at age 45.  He was buried 26 January 1899 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

                   545       iii.    Henry Wilford CROFUTT was born 27 November 1876 in Tama County, Iowa and died in a traffic accident 25 September 1950 in Pierre, Hughes County, South Dakota at age 73. He was buried 28 September 1950 in Gettysburg Cemetery, Potter County, South Dakota. Henry married first Sophia Elizabeth Caroline MESSIMORE 6 April 1903 in Yankton, Yankton County, South Dakota. Sophia was born 1 June 1883, the daughter of Abia and Olodine (Twombley) Messimore, in Etna Green, Kosciusko County, Indiana. She died 2 September 1945 in Gettysburg, Potter County, South Dakota at age 62. Their children were Newell Marcus, born 28 April 1904 in South Dakota and died in that state 29 August 1971 at age 67 who married Velva Adelina MACHAN; Anna Gertrude, born 25 September 1905 in South Dakota and died in that state 4 February 1996 at age 90 who married Henry William VANDERHAM; Rosa Olodine, born 22 February 1907 in Nebraska and died 20 August 1983 in South Dakota at age 76 who married Grover Cleveland DECK; Clifford Isaac, born 9 November 1908 in South Dakota and resided in New Jersey in 1950; Esther May, born 27 May 1910 in Nebraska and died in that state 3 June 1910; Alfred Leo, born 5 November 1911 in Nebraska and died 26 October 1918 at age 6; Violet Leona, born 28 March 1914 in South Dakota and died 3 August 2005 in Nebraska at age 91 who married Theodore LUEBBE; Goldie Evelyn, born 29 February 1916 and died 6 January 2004 in Colorado at age 87 who married Norbert Martin MIELKE; Fannie Olive, born 17 June 1918 and died 17 October 1918; Henry William Walter, born 16 August 1919 in South Dakota and died 8 February 1996 in that state at age 76 who married Mabel June DECK; Olive Sylvia, born 29 August 1921 in South Dakota and died 29 May 2008 in Nebraska at age 86 who married Richard BIRKES; Sophia Eunice Lillian, born 18 March 1923 in South Dakota and died 16 March 1996 at age 72 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio who married Anthony KOLESAR; and James Robert, born 8 December 1929 and died in Georgia 10 December 1998 at age 69. She died with Henry in a traffic accident 25 September 1950 in Pierre, Hughes County, South Dakota.

                   546       iv.    Clarence Elmer CROFUTT was born 6 July 1883 in Carroll County, Iowa and died 2 August 1963 in Banning, Riverside County, California at age 80. He married Lois NEEL who was born 16 July 1892 and died 11 August 1988 in Lucase County, Iowa at age 96. He also married Goldie HANKINS 23 March 1910 in Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa.

                   547        v.    Bertha Emeline CROFUTT was born 27 October 1887 in Dedham, Carroll County, Iowa. She died 16 April 1983 in Los Angeles County, California at age 95, and was buried in Onida Cemetery, Onida, Sully County, South Dakota. Bertha married Carlie Omer WEST 21 July 1903 in Tyndall, Bon Homme County, South Dakota. He was born 31 October 1881 and died 2 September 1935 in Onida, Sully County at age 54. Their children were Olive Ellen, born 14 February 1905, and Pearl May, born 28 July 1906.

                   548       vi.    Gertrude May CROFUTT was born 3 June 1892 in Iowa and died 27 January 1978 in Pico Rivera, Los Angeles County, California at age 85. She married Howard Earl BEVERS 10 December 1911 in Springfield, Bon Homme County, South Dakota. Howard was born in April 1891 in Illinois, the son of John M. and Ella Bevers who in the 1900 federal census were in Bird Township, Macoupin County, Illinois. Gertrude and Howard had children Earl Edmund, born 19 March 1913 and died in August 1986 in Texas at age 73; Paul Clifford, born 23 March 1916 and died in December 1985 in Los Angeles County, California at age 69; Howard Elmer, born 7 October 1918 and died in July 1977 in Los Angeles County, California at age 58; Eugene Elroy, born 23 April 1921 and died 25 April 1921, and Donald Ray. In the 1920 and 1930 federal censuses the family was enumerated in Potter County, South Dakota.

 

     321.  Rosanna J.5 THOMPSON (Emeline4 Penny, John3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 6 September 1860 in Darke County, Ohio and died 19 October 1943 in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota at age 83.    

     Rosanna’s name was given as Rosetta, per her mother’s obituary, and her name has also appeared as Roxanna. She married James King HALL 11 February 1879 in Tama County, Iowa. James, the son of Larkin and Sarah Ann (Thomas) Hall, was born 27 March 1848 in Markleysburg, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.  He died 9 July 1923 in Duluth at age 75. Rosanna and James were living in Marshall County, Iowa in 1900, according to her father’s obituary.

                   549        i.    Daniel Oliver6 HALL was born 20 December 1879 and died 25 November 1912 in Minnesota or Canada at age 32. He married Amelia MANZ 18 January 1909. She was born 1 December 1892 in Marshall County, Iowa, and was the daughter of Henry Frederick and Elizabeth (Moeller) Manz. Her father's second wife was Daniel's sister Mabel Hall. Amelia married second circa 1918 James Harold Thomas. She died 17 July 1977 in Sequim, Clallam County, Washington at age  84.

                   550        ii.    Julia Ardena HALL was born 16 November 1881. She died 8 August 1909 in Becker, Sherburne County, Minnesota at age 27, and was buried in Becker Cemetery. On 21 October 1902 Julia married in Sherburne County Joseph LAMER who was born about 1877. They had a daughter Elsie born 18 February 1908 and died 29 August 1909.

                   551       iii.    Larkin D. HALL was born 29 November 1885 and died 24 October 1948 in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota at age 62. Larkin married Alma GISH 11 October 1919 in Elk River, Sherburne County, Minnesota. She was born 11 February 1897 in Morrison County, Minnesota, the daughter of George W. and Minnie J. Gish, and died 24 October 1948 in Duluth. Their children were Walter, James, Mabel, Leroy, William, Leonard, Raymond, Larkin Jr. and Bessie.

                   552       iv.    Lucius W. HALL was born 11 August 1888. He died 13 June 1976 in Anoka, Anoka County, Minnesota at age 87, and was buried in Becker Cemetery, Becker, Sherburne County, Minnesota. Lucius married Marie FUCH 30 December 1911 in Sherburne County. She was born circa 1893 in Nebraska and died 28 February 1987 in Anoka. Their children were Fannie, Rosie and Harry.

                   553        v.    Sarah HALL was born 14 January 1893. She died 21 October 1955 in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota at age 62, and was buried in Becker Cemetery, Becker, Sherburne County, Minnesota. Sarah married David LEVERTON 9 July 1909. He was born 2 May 1882 in Minnesota and died 28 Feb 1963 in Sherburne County, Minnesota at age 81. Their children were Doris M., Alvin L. and Lloyd.

                   554       vi.    Fannie May HALL was born 19 December 1896 and died 21 August 1966 in Bay Lake, Crow Wing County, Minnesota at age 69. She was buried in Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Fannie married Edward ERICKSON 15 April 1912 in Sherburne County, Minnesota. She also married Emil K. MARTIS about 1926 in Minnesota. Emil was born 16 February 1898 in Sweden and died 18 November 1960 in Cook County, Minnesota at age 62. He was buried in Crystal Lake Cemetery.

                   555      vii.    Bessie Lee HALL was born 23 December 1901 in Minnesota. She died 3 December 1982 in Finlayson Township, Pine County, Minnesota at age 80, and was buried in Oneota Cemetery, Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota. Bessie married Albert Leonard ERICKSON 11 October 1919 in Sherburne County, Minnesota. She married also Clarence MANZ 11 November 1923. Clarence was born 15 October 1898 in Marshall County, Iowa, the son of Henry Frederick and Elizabeth (Moeller) Manz. His sister Amelia married Bessie's brother Daniel Hall (see #549 above), and his father's second wife was Bessie sister Mabel (see next name below) Clarence died 27 August 1965 in Duluth at age 67. He was buried in Oneota Cemetery. Bessie and Clarence had a son Robert

                               viii   Mabel HALL was born 30 December 1890 and died 14 May 1957 in Seattle, King County, Washington at age 66. On 12 April 1906 she married Henry Frederick MANZ who was born 24 August 1867 in Germany. His first wife was Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Moeller, and among their children was Amelia, who married Mabel's brother Daniel (see #549 above) and Clarence, who married Mabel's sister Bessie (see #555 above) Mabel and Henry had a son James Daniel, born 6 February 1907 in Becker, Sherburne County, Minnesota and died 9 February 1968 in Renton, King County, Washington at age 61, who married Pearl Alma DRINKWITZ. In the 1911 Canadian census, Henry, Mabel and James were in Battleford, Saskatchewan. By 1920 the family had returned to the United States and were residing in Spang Township, Itasca County, Minnesota where Henry was a wood farmer.

 

     322.  Louisa May5 PENNY (Francis4, John3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 12 April 1856 in Darke County, Ohio. She died of a coronary thrombosis 2 November 1935 in West Milton, Miami County, Ohio at age 79, and was buried 4 November 1935 in Newcomer Cemetery, Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio

     Louisa married Charles Filmore BUCKINGHAM 17 August 1876 in Miami County. Charles was born 21 June 1853 in Dennings, New Windsor District, Maryland, the son of Leonard Jackson and Sarah Elizabeth (Wilt) Buckingham, His brother Jacob T. Buckingham, also born in Maryland, married Charles' wife's sister Mary Belle. (see #323 below) Charles died of a cerebral hemorrhage at age 88 on 14 May 1942 in El Dorado, Preble County, Ohio at the home of his daughter Clarissa. He was buried 17 May 1942 in Newcomer Cemetery.

                   562      vii.    Russell Cletus BUCKINGHAM was born 3 November 1890. He died of myocarditis, coronary thrombosis 2 July 1946 in Newton Township, Miami County at age 55, and was buried 7 July 1946 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Miami County. Russell married Tressie OVERCASH 8 March 1913 in Miami County. Tressie, the daughter of John and Sarah (Shafer) Overcash, was born 9 March 1890 in Ohio. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage 26 April 1952 in Covington, Miami County, and was buried 29 April 1952 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Russell and Tressie had two sons. Kenneth Overcash Buckingham was born 12 October 1913 and died in Florida 9 June 1985 at age 71. He was buried 12 June 1985 in Fountain Memorial Park, Homosassa Springs, Citrus County, Florida. Kenneth married Alice Elizabeth 'Betty' FAIR, the daughter of Ezra and Clara (Wintrow) Fair, 13 September 1933 in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana and the couple had a son Kenneth Edward and daughter Barbara. John Eldon Buckingham was born 17 January 1922 and was killed 4 April 1945 in Germany in World War II. He married Lois Jean SAUL 7 September 1941 in Pleasant Hill, Miami County.

                   563      viii.    Cloyd Edward BUCKINGHAM was born 1 January 1893. Known as Ed, he died 22 February 1980 at age 87 and was buried in Highland Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County, Ohio. In the 1920 federal census Ed's occupation was farmer and in 1930 he was a milk truck driver. Ed married Armina HOKE circa 1912 in Ohio. Armina, known as Mina, was born 22 February 1896  in Miami County, Ohio, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Hess) Hoke. They had three daughters: Mary E., born circa 1913; Ruth Irene, born 5 May 1915 in Montgomery County, Ohio and died 18 June 1994 in Oregon at age 79 who married Lester H. DEETER; and Kathleen.

     323.  Mary Belle5 PENNY (Francis4, John3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 1 October 1861 in Darke County, Ohio. She died at age 91 on 5 August 1953 in Darke County at the home of her daughter Hattie, and was buried 8 August 1953 in Abbottsville Cemetery, Van Buren Township, Darke County. 

     Belle, as she was known, married Jacob Theodore BUCKINGHAM 5 September 1884 in Miami County, Ohio. Jacob, the son of Leonard Jackson and Sarah Elizabeth (Wilt) Buckingham, was born 15 September 1854 in Terra County, Maryland.  He was the brother of Charles Fillmore Buckingham, also born in Maryland, who married Jacob's wife's sister Louisa. (see #322 above) Jacob was a farmer but by the 1920 federal census worked as a cobbler in a shoe shop. He died of a brain hemorrhage 21 May 1934 in Darke County at age 77, and was buried 24 May 1934 in Abbottsville Cemetery.

                   565        i.    Hattie V.6 BUCKINGHAM was born 18 March 1884 and died 27 March 1973 in Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana at age 89. On 15 August 1905 in Darke County she married Harley LAUGHMAN and they had a son Roy O. born 13 March 1906 and died in March 1983 in Randolph County, Indiana at age 77. Harley was born 13 June 1886 in Ohio, the son of Henry and Esley Jane (Minnick) Laughman, and died 15 March 1975 in Darke County at age 88.

                   566        ii.    Flossie F. BUCKINGHAM was born 13 May 1887. She married Homer WICK 14 April 1906 in Darke County. Homer, the son of Lewis and Rebecca (Hallacher) Wick, was born 18 July 1887 in Miami County, Ohio. The couple had children Carl Oscar, born 19 November 1906 and died in 1963 at age 57; Hazel L., born 6 October 1908; Velma, born 6 May 1910 and died of pulmonary tuberculosis 21 March 1938 at age 27 in the Franklin County Tuberculosis Hospital, Marion Township, Franklin County, Ohio; Mary Rebecca, born 20 January 1912 and died 1 January 1975 at age 62, who married Elmer CISSNER circa 1934; Alice, born circa 1915 who married [--?--] HIMES and was residing in Newberg, Yamhill County, Oregon in 2008; Glen Austin, born 16 August 1917 and died 28 December 2008 in Kettering, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 91, who married Marjorie Maxine MCAFEE 30 September 1945; and Ruth, born circa 1919 who married [--?--] SCHAEFER. In the 1910 federal census the family was enumerated in Van Buren Township, Darke County, but by the 1920 census Flossie and children were residing with her parents in Greenville, Darke County. In 1930 Flossie F. Wick was enumerated in the federal census as a boarder with a family in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. She was a seamstress and was engaged in that trade in a coat factory in 1920 and a pants factory in 1930. Flossie married second Daniel YOUNT who was born 12 June 1871 in Ohio. He died 16 February 1944 at age  72 and was buried in Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford, Miami County as was his first wife Frances Brewer who he married 31 January 1891 in Darke County. Flossie's name is on the headstone with Dan's but without a date of death. She was buried instead in Abbottsville Cemetery, Van Buren Township, Darke County. She died 29 March 1965 at age 77 in Kettering, Montgomery County, Ohio.

     326.  Albert5 PENNY (Francis4, John3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 1 May 1869 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio and died of prostate cancer 3 August 1946 in Delphos, Allen County, Ohio at age 77. He was buried 6 August 1946 in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos. Albert was an employee of Delphos Bending Company at the time of his death.  He married Martha Elizabeth STUTZ 21 February 1889 in Darke County. The daughter of Frederick and Sarah A. (Long) Stutz, Martha was born 14 August 1871 in Darke County and died of bronchial pneumonia 10 December 1949 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio at age 78. She was buried 13 December 1949 in Union Cemetery, Columbus. Albert and Martha were divorced between 1910 and 1920.    

     Known children of Albert5 PENNY and Martha STUTZ, all born in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio, were as follows:

                   568        i.    Leroy O.6 PENNY, known as Roy, was born 14 December 1889 and died of bronchial asthma 30 June 1931 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 41. He was buried 3 July 1931 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Montgomery County. Roy married Forest M. COPPOCK 23 April 1910 in Darke County. Forest was born 23 May 1889, the daughter of John W. and Lillie (Furlong) Coppock of Franklin Township, Darke CountyRoy and Forest had two sons and a daughter. Herman L. Penny was born 12 August 1910 in Darke County. He died 16 June 1986 in Montgomery County, Ohio at age 75, and was buried in Hillgrove Cemetery, Miamisburg, Montgomery County. A veteran of World War II, Herman was a retired employee of General Motors and resided in Dayton at the time of his death. His wife’s name was Helen. Another son, John Allen Penny, was born 4 April 1919 and died 16 September 2009 at age 90. His last known address was Greenville, Darke County. Daughter Mary Penny was born circa 1921. Roy and Forest divorced and he married next Alice [--?--] circa 1928. Forest married Lewis Hissong  24 November 1933 in Darke County. She died 17 July 1948 at age 58 and was buried  20 July 1948 in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg, Darke County.

                   569        ii.    Samuel J. PENNY was born 15 November 1892 and died in February 1963 at age 70. He married Mary E. BEY 8 February 1912 and in 1930 they lived in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio where Samuel was a helper for a plumbing shop. Mary was born circa 1892 in Germany. The known children of Samuel and Mary were Robert, born circa 1912, and Margaret, born circa 1914, both in Ohio.

                   570       iii.    Elijah Rodgers PENNY was born 21 September 1897 and died 10 January 1961 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio at age 63. He was buried 14 January 1961 in Union Cemetery, Franklin County.  On 30 June 1921 in Franklin County he married Virgil Katherine BLACK, the daughter of Albert and Emma (Hardwick) Black, who was born 25 August 1893 in Ohio and died of acute yellow atrophy of the liver and uremia in Clinton Township, Franklin County on 7 November 1934 at age 41. She was pregnant at the time. Virgil was buried 12 November 1934 in Union Cemetery. The couple had children Helen, Paul, Betty Jane and Harry.

 

     338.  Flora Ellen5 PENNY (Ralph4, John3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 15 May 1878 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio. She died 18 February 1969 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio at age 90, and was buried in Polk Grove Cemetery, Englewood, Montgomery County, Ohio.    

     Flora married Dorsey Owen MACY 20 December 1899 in Ohio. Owen, as he was called, was born 28 November 1871 in Montgomery County, the son of Silas and Philora (Beck) Macy. He died at age 45 of a weakened heart following an operation for appendicitis on 23 November 1917 in Monroe Township, Miami County, Ohio. Owen was buried in Polk Grove Cemetery 26 November 1917

     Known children of Flora Ellen5 PENNY and Dorsey Owen MACY were as follows:

                   574        i.    Esther M.6 MACY was born 5 June 1900 in Miami County, Ohio and died of a cerebral emblolism 11 November 1952 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio at age 52. She was buried 13 November 1952 in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Esther married Donald Henry MORGAN 26 June 1926 in Newport, Campbell County, Kentucky and in 1930 they lived in Troy where Donald was foreman of a shop that made outdoor furniture. He was born 11 May 1909 in Montgomery County, Ohio, and died 19 February 1969 at age 59 in Troy. The couple divorced some time after 1930.

                   575        ii.    Silas Ralph MACY was born 22 October 1901 in Union, Montgomery County, Ohio. He died 18 February 1959 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio at age 57, and was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Ralph, as he was called, married Mabel Marie FREEZE 23 December 1925 in Troy. Mabel was born 7 September 1901 in Miami County, the daughter of Charles E. and Myrtle (Carmen) Freeze.

                   576       iii.    Walter Everett MACY was born 28 November 1903 in Union, Montgomery County, Ohio and died 27 October 1986 in Darke County, Ohio,at age 82. Everett, as he was called, married Thelma YOUNCE 28 November 1933 in Miami County, Ohio. She was born 28 November 1909, the daughter of Elias Flory and Jennie Mae (Eby) Younce of Randolph Township, Montgomery County, and died in Montgomery County 24 June 1999 at age 89.

                   577       iv.    Clara Irene MACY was born 29 July 1906 in Montgomery County, Ohio and died in Miami County, Ohio 2 August 1995 at age 89. She married Edwin Emerson DAVIDSON circa 1926. He was born 23 May 1904 in Troy, Miami County, the son of Harley Edwin and Alice A. (Funderburg) Davidson. In the 1930 federal census they lived in Troy and Edwin (the census has his name as Edward E.) was a spray painter for an airplane factory and Clara worked as a seamstress for a manufacturer of outdoor furniture. Edwin died 25 April 1990 at age 85 in Miami County.

                   578        v.    Florence Lucille MACY was born 2 September 1909 in Montgomery County, Ohio and died 30 October 2005 at age  96 in Miami County, Ohio. She married Robert thomas PEARSON and in 1930 they resided in Monroe Township, Miami County, Ohio. Robert was born  21 April 1909 in Miami County, the son of theodore Webster and anna (Harshman) Pearson. He died 10 July 1971 at age  62 in Miami County.

                   579       vi.    Dorsey Orville MACY was born 29 May 1912 in Union, Montgomery County, Ohio. He died 29 December 1996 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio at age 84, and was buried in Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Miami County. Orville, as he was called, married Lillian Maxine PUCKETT, the daughter of John L. and Ida Elizabeth (Landis) Puckett. She was born 30 August 1915 in Pleasant Hill, Miami County, and died in Troy in that county  15 December 2010 at age 95.

                   580      vii.    Ezra Burnell MACY was born 13 May 1915 in Ohio and married Sara Carolyn STUDEBAKER.  He died 18 January 1994 at age 78. He was listed as Burnelle in the 1930 federal census, and the Social Security Death Index gave his name as E. Burnell Macy. At the time of his death he lived in Troy, Miami County, Ohio.

 

 

 

     339.  John Wesley5 PENNY (Mercer4, Henry3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 2 March 1865 in Darke County, Ohio and died of a cerebral hemorrhage 19 June 1920 at age 55 in Staunton Township, Miami County, Ohio. He was buried 21 June 1920 in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Miami County. 

     On 25 July 1887 in Montgomery County, Ohio John married Agnes Jennie HARE, who was born 10  December 1871 in Ohio and went by the name Jennie. She was the daughter of Thomas and Melissa A. (McDaniel) Hare, he from England and she from Indiana. After John's death Jennie married 24 March 1923 in Miami County George F. Scott, the son of Laten F. and Susanna (Maddox) Scott, who was born 30 December 1866 in Fayette County, Ohio. He died  22 November 1947 in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio where he was an engineer for the U.S. Post Office. George was buried 23 November 1947 in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.

     Known children of John W.5 PENNY and Agnes Jennie HARE were as follows:

                   581        i.    Myrtle Edna6 PENNY was born 26 December 1890 in Painter Creek, Darke County, Ohio and died 20 June 1977 in Miami County at age 86. On 8 January 1908 in Miami County Myrtle married Sylvester Clyde CRUEA who was born 7 November 1888 in Pleasant Hill, Miami County, Ohio, the son of David and Jennie (Roth) Cruea. The couple had a son Wilfred born 15 September 1908 and divorced between 1910 and 12 June 1918 when Sylvester married second Florence Von Carlezon, the daughter of George and Margaret Carlezon. Sylvester died in September 1977 in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana at age 88. Some time after 1930 Myrtle married Robert Henry FLEGE, the son of Henry and Mary Flege, who was born 8 August 1891 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio and died in Miami County 13 May 1961 at age 69. In 1964 at the time of Myrtle's brother Oren’s death she resided in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio.

                   584       iv.    Iven Oscar PENNY was born 11 April 1898 in Covington, Miami County, Ohio. He died 25 June 1972 in Troy Miami County at age 73 and was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Troy. Iven married Mary A. REYNOLDS, the daughter of Hart and Edith (Drake) Reynolds. She was born 26 May 1900 and died 10 November 1976 at age 76. Mary was buried in Riverside Cemetery. Their children were Donald and Betty. In the 1930 federal census Iven and his family resided in Middletown, Butler County, and he was manager of a gasoline company.

 

     341.  William E.5 PENNY (Mercer4, Henry3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born in January 1869 in Ohio, and married Mina MOHLER 12 April 1890 in Darke County, Ohio. Mina, the daughter of Jacob M. and Philedia (Deeter) Mohler, was born 24 January 1868 in Miami County, Ohio and died of vaginal cancer 11 June 1913 at age 45 in Monroe Township, Darke County. She was buried 13 June 1913 in Potsdam Cemetery, Union Township, Miami County. William lived in New York in 1926 at the time of his father’s death, likely with his son Joseph in Buffalo. He died in 1934 at age 65, possibly in Buffalo, and was buried in Potsdam Cemetery.

     Known children of William E.5 PENNY and Mina MOHLER were as follows:

                   585        i.    Jesse Orville6 PENNY was born 30 April 1890 in Red River, Darke County, Ohio and died 8 October 1972 at age 82 in Palm Beach County, Florida. On 19 March 1910 in St. Joseph, Berrien County, Michigan he married Virgie LONG who was born circa 1889 in Ohio and they had a son Marlin born circa 1911. The family lived in Staunton Township, Miami County, and Jesse was a salesman for a creamery. Virgie may be the Lavirgi Penny, born in 1889, who died 30 July 1962  in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, whose residence at death was Troy, Miami County.

                   586        ii.    Albert Lee PENNY was born 14 March 1893 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio and married Omah WALKER circa 1912 in Ohio. Omah was born 13 January 1894 in Ohio, the daughter of Samuel S. and Cora M. (Binkley) Walker, and died a widow 28 September 1989 in Englewood, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 95. Their children were Don, born 29 November 1912 and died in 1978 at age 66; Madge, born circa 1916, and Robert L. Albert was a used car salesman, according to the 1930 census, and supposedly founded Penny Oldsmobile in Dayton, Montgomery County.

                   587       iii.    Joseph Mohler PENNY was born 10 October 1898 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. He married Voneda Leona WARNER 31 December 1915 in Pitsburg, Darke County, Ohio and their children were Kenneth, born 9 April 1915 in Ohio and died 13 December 2003 at age 88 in Florida; Joseph Mohler, Jr., born circa 1920 in Greenfield, Hancock County, Indiana who died 28 September 1944 in World War II; and Mary J., born in Tonawanda, Erie County, New York and died 14 October 1991 in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas at age 66, who married Darwin David MOORE 12 September 1947 in New York. Voneda was born 31 December 1899 in Ohio, the daughter of Rollie Laymon and Daisy (Baker) Warner. She died 27 January 2002 at age 102 in Florida. Her last known address was Hobe Sound, Martin County, Florida. In the 1930 federal census Joseph and family were in Buffalo, Erie County, New York where he was a milk salesman.

 

     342.  Simon W.5 PENNY (Mercer4, Henry3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 30 May 1872 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio. He died of a gunshot wound in the abdomen 23 July 1926 in Greenville, Darke County at age 55, and was buried 25 July 1926 in Abbottsville Cemetery, Van Buren Township, Darke County. The Ku Klux Klan assisted at his funeral. Simon enlisted in the military 22 June 1916 at age 44. At the time of death he was a police officer.

     Simon married Ida LONG, the daughter of Jackson and Mary (Candle) Long, 24 September 1892 in Darke County. She was born 2 November 1864 in Ohio and had been married previously to Samuel Shields on 3 March 1883 in Darke County. They had two children: Sylvan, born in August 1884, and Mazy, born in April 1891. Both children were with Simon and Ida in the 1900 federal census in Van Buren Township, Darke County. Simon and Ida divorced around 1906. A newspaper article dated 15 March 1906 stated that Simon's wife Ida filed suit in the Common Please Court of Darke County against her husband Simon Penny to compel him to support her and their four children. The complaint said that in about May 1904 the defendant totally abandoned the plaintiff and their children and since had been living and cohabitating with Dora Shumaker in Darke County.     

     After Ida and Simon were divorced, she and her daughters Bonnie and Irene lived in Greenville, Darke County, and Ida and Bonnie worked in a tobacco warehouse. Ida died of acute enterocolitis 1 August 1917 at age 52 in Newberry Township, Miami County, and was buried 4 August 1917 in Abbottsville Cemetery. 

     Known children of Simon W.5 PENNY and Ida Long SHIELDS, all born in Darke County, Ohio, were as follows:

                   588        i.    Bonnie6 PENNY was born May 1894 and died before 1926.

                   589        ii.    Elva J. PENNY was born 28 February 1896 and died of an apparent heart attack in 1959 in Denver, Denver County, Colorado at age 63. He was buried in Denver. About 1923 Elva married Anabelle CURTIS who was born circa 1903 in Ohio. In the 1930 federal census Elva and Annabelle were in the household of his mother-in-law Katie Curtis, a widow, in Eldorado, Butler County, Kansas. Elva was a truck driver at an oil field and Annabelle was a stenographer for an oil company.

                   590       iii.    Roy Orlando PENNY was born in 1900 and died 11 March 1977 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 77. He married Dora M. (--?--) circa 1919 and they resided in Barberton, Summit County, Ohio in 1920. Dora was born circa 1894 in Illinois. By 1930 the family was in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio where Roy was a tester of automobiles and Dora a splicer in a woolen mill. Roy and Dora had two known children: Paul C., born 20 October 1920 and died in January 1980 at the age of 59; and Lucille.

                   591       iv.    Irene Rosa PENNY was born 1 March 1903 in Hartford City, Blackford County, Indiana, according to her marriage record, and died in Miami County, Ohio in 1994 at age 91. She married Emerson F. COLBERT 10 January 1923 in Miami County. Emerson, the son of Charles W. and Mattie Della (Smith) Colbert, was born 23 August 1903 in Covington, Miami County. He died 18 November 1998 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio at age 95, and was buried in Highland Cemetery, Covington, Miami County. Emerson was a lathe operator at Anchor Manufacturing, formerly Piqua Wood Shovel, for 16 years. The couple had four known children: Bonnie Louise, Elva Eugene, Juanita Rosella and Lowell.

      

     360.  David Henry5 PENNY (Beverly4, Henry3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 7 November 1867 in Van Buren Township, Darke County, Ohio. He died 2 April 1937 in Ohio at age 69, and was buried in Old Bradford Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County, Ohio.

     David, a farmer, married Ida Bell FRY 18 November 1887 in Ohio. Ida Bell was born 8 December 1869 in Darke County, the daughter of William and Susanna (Stiles) Fry. She died 6 July 1893 in Bradford, Miami County, at age 23. David then married Flora B. WELBAUM 19 April 1896 in Darke County. Flora, the daughter of Silas and Sarah C. (Frock) Welbaum, was born 17 March 1878 in Darke County and died 26 February 1962 in Miami County at age 83.

                   597    ii.       Estella PENNY was born in 1891 in Darke County, Ohio and died in 1971 at 80. She was buried in Harris Creek

                                      Cemetery. Stella, as she was called, married first 5 January 1906 in Darke County John Henry PATTERSON, 

                                      the son of Samuel and Christena M. (Ganby) Patterson, who was born 20 January 1883 in Ohio and died of a

                                      coronary occlusion 13 March 1948 at age 65. He was buried 16 March 1948 in Harris Creek Cemetery. The

                                      couple's known children were Tenia P., born 30 August 1907 in Darke Count;y; Sarah, born circa 1912 in

                                      Darke County;  Samuel, born circa 1914 in Gratiot County, Michigan; and Forrest H., born 1 July 1918 in

                                      Michigan and died 29 September 2000 in Ohio at age 82. At the time of Forrest's death he was residing in

                                      Wapakoneta, Auglaize County, Ohio.

     Known children of David Henry5 PENNY and Flora B. WELBAUM, all born in Bradford, Miami County, Ohio, were as follows:

                   598        i.    Alma E. 6 PENNY was born 2 March 1897 and died in Darke County, Ohio 15 May 1980 at age 83. She married William Jacob HAGAN 24 December 1917 in Miami County, Ohio. William was born 9 August 1894 in Bradford, Miami County, Ohio and died in 1957 at age 63. He was buried in Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford. In the 1930 federal census for Newton Township, Miami County, Alma, William and family lived with Alma’s brother Ellison Penny. Alma and William had three daughters. Audrey, born 10 February 1915 in Bradford, was William's and Alma's daughter according to her marriage record, and if so she was born out of wedlock. Audrey married 4 June 1933 in Miami County Edward Markenson STAMBAUGH, the son of Homer and Florence (Orwell) Stambaugh, who was born 29 March 1913 in St. Marys, Auglaize County, Ohio and died at age 52 on 3 March 1966 in Troy, Miami County. Alma and William also had daughters Marcella and Iva.

                   599        ii.    Grace PENNY was born 7 November 1900 and married Frederick COTY, Jr. 7 December 1917 in Merrill, Saginaw County, Michigan. Fred, as he was known was born 17 March 1889 in Lakefield Township, Saginaw County, the son of Frederick, Sr. and Maria E. (McConnell) Coty, and in 1930 he, Grace and their family lived in Lakefield Township. Evidently Grace married a second time for her name was given as Mrs. Grace Collier of Merrill, Saginaw County, Michigan in her brother Aaron’s 1978 obituary. The known children of Grace and Fred were Freda G., born circa 1919; Gilbert C., born 25 January 1921 and died in November 1970 at age 49; Arleta M.; and Kenneth R., born 17 January 1928 and died 1 September 2001 at age 73. His last known residence was Merrill, Saginaw County.

                   600       iii.    Ruth Esther PENNY was born 9 January 1903 and died 29 September 2002 at age 99. Her last known residence was Ludlow Falls, Miami County, Ohio. Circa 1917 at age 14 she married John Clinton SANDERS who was born 26 January 1893 in Darke County, Ohio, the son of James Martin and Margaret (Luzine) Sanders. He died of cardiovascular disease 27 February 1944 at age 51, and was buried 1 March 1944 in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton, Miami County.  Ruth and John had six known children, all born in Miami County, Ohio

                   601       iv.    Ellison PENNY was born 15 March 1905 and died 1 November 1990 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio at age 85. He was buried in Abbottsville Cemetery, Van Buren Township, Darke County, Ohio. Ellison married Ethel L. MINNICH 29 August 1934. Ethel, the daughter of Clarence and Nora (Zechar) Minnich, was born 18 September 1908 in Darke County. She died 5 February 1994 in Greenville, Darke County at age 85, and was buried in Abbottsville Cemetery. Ellison and Ethel had three known children.

                   602        v.    Solomon David PENNY was born 4 August 1907and died of diptheria 10 October 1913 at age 6. He was buried 11 October 1913 in Old Bradford Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County, Ohio.

                   603       vi.    Aaron Lewis PENNY was born 17 June 1910 and died 11 January 1978 of an apparent heart attack at his home in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio at age 67. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton, Miami County. Aaron was an employee of Miller-Meteor Company in Piqua. He married Iva SHANER who was born 6 January 1918 in Darke County,Ohio, the daughter of Eli and Clara Shaner, and died 6 May 2004 at age 86. Her last known residence was Greenville, Darke County. Their son Eli Lee, born 15 March 1940, died at Piqua Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident 19 November 1946 at age 6. He was buried 21 November 1946 in Riverside Cemetery. Aaron and Iva had five known children in addition to Eli Lee.

                   604      vii.    Ray PENNY was born 19 April 1912 and died in May 1984 at age 72. He was living in St. Charles, Saginaw County, Michigan at the time of his death. He had lived in Saginaw County since at least 1930.

                   605      viii.    Ralph PENNY was born 26 September 1914 and died of bronchial pneumonia 27 March 1922 at age 7. He was buried 29 March 1922  in Old Bradford Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County, Ohio.

                   606       ix.    Dorothy M. PENNY was born 6 April 1918 and married (--?--) FREEMAN. She died 3 September 2004 at age 86. Her last known residence was Bradford, Miami County, Ohio

                   607       x.    David W. PENNY was born 9 June 1921 and died 22 December 1989 at age 68. He was buried in Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington, Miami County, Ohio. David served in the U.S. Army in World War II and worked for Hobart Brothers in Troy, Miami County. He married Mary RUNELL who survived him. David and Mary had one daughter.

 

     362.  William E.5 PENNY (Beverly4, Henry3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 5 July 1872 in Van Buren Township, Darke County, Ohio and died 25 July 1903 at age 31 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, likely in Dayton State Hospital. In April 1903 his children were placed in the Miami County Children's Home, and records indicate that their father was in Dayton State Hospital and their mother was living in Piqua in Miami County. Interestingly William's son Harry's 1921 obituary states "the whereabouts of the father are unknown," leading one to wonder if perhaps the children were never told of the circumstances of their father's death so many year's earlier.

     William married Millie BOTTORFF 27 March 1892 in Darke County. Millie, the daughter of John and Mary (Daugherty) Bottorff, was born 31 July 1870 in Covington, Miami County, Ohio. On 30 July 1910 she married John Frank Strome who was enumerated as a boarder in Millie’s household in Piqua in the 1910 federal census. He was divorced and working in a malt house. Frank, as he was known, was born in March 1868 in Miami County, the son of Josephus and Cynthia Strome, and died in Dayton State Hospital of general paralysis of the insane 28 December 1921 at age 53. He was buried 30 December 1921 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. Millie married third George Frank Stoker 25 November 1925 in Miami County. George, the son of John Enoch and Margaret (Hughes) Stoker, was born 31 July 1866 in Piqua and had been married once previously. A well driller and pump repairman, he died 10 October 1931 at age 65. Millie died 17 November 1942 at age 72 and was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery.

     Known children of William E.5 PENNY and Millie BOTTORFF were as follows:

                   609        i.    Golda Mae6 PENNY was born 1 July 1893 in Bradford, Miami County, Ohio and died of cardiovascular and renal disease 23 May 1941 at age 47 in Piqua, Miami County. She was buried 26 May 1941 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. Golda was admitted to the Miami County Children’s Home 22 April 1903 and was subsequently indentured to James G. Mills of Tippecanoe City, but he returned her saying she did not suit him. She was then indentured to J. Harry Walker of east of Casstown in Lost Creek Township, Miami County and discharged from the home 29 April 1908. Goldie was enumerated as a servant in the Walker household in the 1910 federal census. On 8 March 1914 in Miami County Golda married Leroy E. 'Roy' TRISSEL who was born 25 September 1890 in Troy, Miami County and died 25 June 1966 at age 75 in Mercer County, Ohio. Their children, all born in Miami County, were Mary, born circa 1915; Franklin, born 3 February 1916 and died 16 May 1995 at age 79 in Texas; Lila Janette, born 30 August 1917 and died of diptheria 25 July 1924 at age 6; Robert J., born 30 October 1919 and died 27 March 199r in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida at age 75; Elsie, born circa 1921; Paul B., born and died 11 April 1924 of a hemorrhage of the cord; and Alneida G., born 24 September 1927 and died 7 March 1999 at age 71 in Miami County, who married [--?--] REED.

                   610        ii.    Ralph Edgar PENNY was born 9 July 1895 in Bradford, Miami County, Ohio and died 23 July 1967 in Miami County at age 72.  He was buried 26 July 1967 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Miami County. Ralph was admitted to the Miami County Children's Home 22 April 1903 and was indentured first to Charles B. Coppock who lived west of Troy, near Pleasant Hill. He was returned to the home and then indentured to Clinton Hendricks who resided southeast of Tipp City. Finally he was surrendered to his mother. The date of last discharge was 29 July 1909. On 28 March 1918 Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Army in Troy. On 17 July 1920 in Butler County, Ohio Ralph married Susan Mary MILLER who was born 24 January 1900 in Ohio, the daughter of Joseph E. and Elizabeth (Getz) Miller, and died in Piqua 29 November 1975 at age 75. She was buried 1 December 1975 in Forest Hill Cemetery. The couple had a son Edgar W. who was born 23 April 1922 and died 15 January 1988 in Piqua at age 65. He was buried in Memorial Park, Covington, Miami County. Edgar married LaRee B. AUTL 31 December 1946 in Piqua and they had six sons and three daughters.

                   611       iii.    Edith M. PENNY was born 21 February 1897 in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio and was admitted to the Miami County Children’s Home 22 April 1903. Records of the home state that her father was in Dayton Hospital and her mother was living in Piqua. Edith was discharged to her mother 29 July 1909 at which time records indicate her father was deceased. Edith married Willard EVANS 10 August 1915 in Miami County. He was born 7 April 1882 in Tippecanoe City, Miami County, the son of Jefferson and Mary Belle (Clark) Evans. Willard died of typhoid fever 14 January 1922 at age 39 in Piqual. Edith and Willard lived in Tippecanoe City and had daughters Viola B., born circa 1915; Florence E., born circa 1916, and Emma M., born circa 1918. Edith married second Fred Montgomery SAUER  30 September 1922 in Miami County. Fred, the son of Henry and Louisa (Wise) Sauer, was born  27 February 1900 in Piqua, and died 13 February 1967 in Riverside County, California at age 66. He was buried in Elsinore Valley Cemetery, Lake Elsinore, Riverside County. In the 1930 census Fred and Edith were enumerated in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan with daughter Catherine and son Louis.

                   612       iv.    Harry PENNY was born 18 July 1900 in Montgomery County, Ohio and was admitted to the Miami County Children' s Home 22 April 1903. Records of the home state that his father William Penney [sic] was in Dayton Hospital and his mother lived in Piqua. Records from 1906 indicate that his father was now dead and that Harry was transferred to the Institute for the Feeble-Minded in Columbus where he died of tuberculosis 23 February 1921 at age 20. He was buried 24 February 1921 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Miami County, Ohio.

 

     363.  Mary Etta5 PENNY (Beverly4, Henry3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 25 August 1874 in Miami County, Ohio. She died 2 August 1932 in Ohio at age 57, and was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Miami County, Ohio. The cause of death was acute indigestion with contributing causes of diabetes and high blood pressure.

     Mary married William Elias BUCKINGHAM 24 September 1893 in Darke County, Ohio. William was born 8 February 1873 in Hollandsburg, Darke County, the son of Harvey and Ellen Louise (Kircher) Buckingham. He died of myocarditis 17 February 1938 in Piqua at age 65, and was buried 21 February 1928 in Forest Hill Cemetery. In his life William worked as a farmer, a laborer on the railroad and a driller in a foundry.

     Known children of Mary Etta5 PENNY and William Elias BUCKINGHAM, all born in Miami County, Ohio, were as follows (out of birth order):

                   613        i.    Credith Lucille6 BUCKINGHAM was born 23 August 1896 and died 24 May 1960 at age 63 in Miami County, Ohio. She was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Versailles, Darke County, Ohio. Credith married first Benjamin Thomas CAIN, the son of Joseph Henry and Minnie (Swank) Cain, who was born 6 June 1893 in Darke County and died of a cerebral hemorrhage 17 May 1958 at age 64 in Bradford, Miami County.  He was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery. Credith and Benjamin had children Joseph Henry, born 16 February 1916 and died 26 May 1989 at age 73; Evelyn Lucille, born 7 March 1918 and died 6 October 1997 at age 79; Robert Thomas; Ruby Elizabeth; Lester Leroy, born 14 September 1925 and died 28 May 1980 at age 54; Rosella Ruth, born 14 January 1928 and died 1 November 1999 at age 71; Betty Eileen, born 10 May 1930 and died 4 May 1931; Juanita Maxine, born 4 July 1932 and died 10 July 1998 at age 66; Fern Louise, born 27 November 1934 and died 1 March 1935; Viola Jean, born 13 Februuary 1926 and died 2 February 1992 at age 55; and Lilie Irene, born 9 November 1939 and died 23 February 2002 at age 62. Credith married second in June 1959 Ralph Alonso WYAN who was born 12 December 1909 in Miami County and died in that county 28 February 1992 at age 82.

                   614        ii.    Nora Marie BUCKINGHAM was born 21 September 1900 and died of a myocardial infarction at age 52 on 11 January 1953 in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio. She was buried 15 January 1953 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. Nora married first 9 November 1918 in Miami County Basilio NOTOLA, Jr. who was born 31 May 1896 in Italy, the son of Basilio, Sr. and Carmela (Baggio) Notola. The couple divorced between 1920 and 1930 and Basilio died 24 February 1958 in Piqua. Nora married second Charles D. OWEN who was born 15 March 1905 in Ohio, the son of Charles and Anna D. Owen, and died in January 1973 at age 67. He was buried 11 January 1973 in Forest Hill Cemetery.

                   615       iii.    William Elsworth BUCKINGHAM was born 22 January 1903 and died of pulmonary tuberculosis 24 November 1939 at age 36 in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio. He was buried 27 November 1939 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. On 2 January 1927 in Miami County William married Consuella WESTFALL, the daughter of Charles E. and Mabel (Wise) Westfall, who was born 9 January 1911 in Troy, Miami County. William was a sand blaster in a foundry per the 1930 census where he and his family lived in Piqua. Consuella and William had one known daughter, Vivian Lucille, who was born 5 March 1928 and died  2 March 2006 in Troy at age 77.

                   616       iv.    Lena BUCKINGHAM was born 22 March 1905 and died 25 July 1980 at age 75 in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio. Circa 1922 she married Marion L. LANDENBURG, the son of Samuel P. and Anna (Lemmon) Landenberg, who was born 22 November 1904 in Piqua and died 6 March 1964 at age 59 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. He was buried 10 March 1964 in Dayton National Cemetery. Lena and Marion had sons Donald P., born 10 June 1924 and died 15 April 2001 in California at age 76; and Robert Linn, born 30 July 1926 and died 27 August 1991 at age 65 in Dayton.

                   617        v.    Edna Marie BUCKINGHAM was born in 1908 and circa 1924 married Everett Clyde HAWKINS, the son of John A. and Josephine C. Hawkins. Everett, a woodworker, was born  7 December 1903 in Indiana and died 26 October 1982 at age 78 . His last known address was Piqua, Miami County, Ohio.

                   618       vi.    Mabel BUCKINGHAM was born 25 January 1913 and died 19 December 1991 at age 78 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio. She was buried in Miami Memorial Park Cemetery in Covington, Miami County. She married (--?--) WOOD.

                   619      vii.    Louis BUCKINGHAM was born 2 January 1915. He died 8 October 1972 at age 57 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Brecksville, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was divorced at the time of death and was a resident of Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio.

                   620      viii.    baby BUCKINGHAM was born and died 3 December 1917.

                                vi.    Lulu M. BUCKINGHAM was born 6 August 1898 and died 11 February 1982 at age 83 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio. She was buried 13 February 1982 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Miami County. Lulu married George W. GRAY, the son of Thomas and Lucretia Gray, 27 July 1917 in Piqua. He was born 15 July 1898 in McConnellsville, Morgan County, Ohio and died 27 April 1968 in Piqua at age 69. George was buried 30 April 1968 in Forest Hill Cemetery. The couple had children Harold, born circa 1917; Esther, born circa 1921 who married Stanley Eugene Ballard ESTES; Mary; Ruth; and Harley Eugene, born 12 September 1934 and died 29 September 1993 at age 59. Lulu married second circa 1969 Charles A. WOOD, born 7 November 1896 and died in May 1975 at age 78, who was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery.

                                     

                                      A daughter, perhaps Clarris, was born circa 1911 per the 1920 census.

 

     364.  Charles Porterfield5 PENNY (Beverly4, Henry3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 25 March 1879 in Miami County, Ohio. He died of angina pectoris 3 June 1949 in Piqua, Miami County at age 70, and was buried 6 June 1949 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua.

     Charles married first Rosa B. BRENNER 13 August 1901 in Miami County. Rosa was the daughter of William and Lucretia Ann (Murray) Brenner and was born 30 December 1884 in Darke County, Ohio. It is likely she died as at least one of her daughters, and probably both, were adopted out by 1910. Charles married second 20 March 1910 in Miami County Rosa CURTIS who was born 30 October 1890 in Darke County, the daughter of Jeremiah and Mina J. (Fritz) Curtis. It is not know whether they divorced or she died, but on 2 July 1929 in Miami County he married Onda Mae UNGER, the daughter of John and Lydia (Seman) Unger. She was born 12 April 1891 in Greenville, Darke County and married first William E. Hahn and had a daughter Mary R. Hahn born in 1919 in Darke County. Charles and Onda had no known children. A step-son, Othel Wagner, was mentioned in Charles’ 1949 obituary. In 1987, at the death of Walter Penny, Othel lived in Versailles. He was Othel Sylvester Wagner, son of Charles' second wife Rosa Curtis, born 18 January 1909 and died 3 May 1996 in Piqua at age 87, who married Thelma Boggs. Rosa may have had Othel out-of-wedlock, as on her marriage record to Charles she was listed as Mrs. Rosa Wolf and had been married just once previously.

     Known children of Charles Porterfield5 PENNY and Rosa B. BRENNER were as follows:

                   621        i.    Eva Marie6 PENNY was born 9 February 1904 in Miami County, Ohio, and died 18 January 1961 in Troy, Miami County at age 56. She was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Miami County. Eva married Samuel Guy DEVILBISS 1 June 1921 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio and they had a son James. Samuel was born 6 June 1899 in Arcanum, Darke County, the son of James William and Anna Dora (Harter) Devilbiss. He and Eva divorced and he married twice more before his death in 1976 at age 77. At the time of her father’s death in 1949 Eva's surname was TRISSEL, however she assumed her maiden name of Penny before her death. 

                   622        ii.    Viola PENNY was born 7 April 1907 in Darke County, Ohio and died before 1949.

                                     

                                      A child, no name given, was born to Charles Penny and Rose Brenner 8 March 1902 in Piqua according to Miami County probate court records.

 

     Known children of Charles Porterfield5 PENNY and Rosa CURTIS were as follows:

                   623        i.    Walter L.6 PENNY was born 4 November 1910 in Miami County, Ohio and died 10 August 1987 in Miami County, Ohio at age 76. He was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Miami County. Walter had seven known children.

                   624        ii.    Elmer PENNY was born 30 August 1913 in Miami County, Ohio and died 26 August 1991 at age 77 in Sidney, Shelby County, Ohio.

                   625       iii.    Harrison Alexander PENNY was born 19 February 1920 in Covington, Miami County, Ohio and died 2 November 1992 in Covington at age 72. Harrison, who went by the name Bus, was a World War II Army veteran and farmer. He married Ruby Laverne HARSHBARGER 1 January 1942 in Miami County, and they had two known children. Ruby was born 26 November 1920 in Miami County and died in Troy in that county  8 February 2006 at age 85.

    

     379.  Venga Fern5 ADDINGTON (Susannah4 Penny, Henry3, Thomas2, Henry1) was born 22 July 1890 in Miami County, Ohio. She died of myocardial failure 21 May 1931 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 40, and was buried 25 May 1931 in Memorial Park, Dayton.

     Venga married William Winslow BABCOCK,  Jr., the son of William Winslow and Lucy E. (Waterman) Babcock, some time between 1910 and 1912. William was born in 1854 in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio and in the 1880 federal census he was in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio, with first wife Henrietta, age 26. His parents and siblings Lucian and Ruth were in Harmar, Washington County. William’s occupation was given as carpenter. By 1910 at age 56 William was single, lived as a lodger in Columbus, Ohio, and still worked as a carpenter. William died of valvular heart disease 17 January 1918 in Piqua, Miami County at age 64, and was buried 20 January 1918 in Oak Grove Cemetery, Marietta. On 6 April 1918 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio Venga married second Sylvester Oliver GOENS. Sylvester, the son of David and Mary Ann (Fletcher) Goens, was born 9 July 1885 in Versailles, Darke County, Ohio, and died 17 March 1932 at age in Dayton. The cause of death as given on his death certificate was carbunkle on the back of the neck, toxic nephritis and respiratory failure. Sylvester was buried 19 March 1932 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dayton. 

     Known children of Venga Fern5 ADDINGTON and William Winslow BABCOCK, Jr., both born in Miami County, Ohio, were as follows:

                   626        i.    Ruth Louise6 BABCOCK was 29 December 1913 and married Clifford H. BANNING, the son of William and Laura (Wagner) Banning, 13 June 1934 in Miami County. He was born 31 March 1908 in Piqua, Miami County and died there 9 February 1990 at age 81. Ruth died 28 December 2001 at age 89 in Piqua.

                   627        ii.    Betty Ann BABCOCK was born circa 1917.

    

     Known children of Venga Fern5 ADDINGTON and Sylvester Oliver GOENS, all born in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, were as follows (out of birth order):

                   628        i.    Sylvester6 GOENS was born 10 March 1926 and died 8 August 1995 in Port Isabel, Cameron County, Texas at age 69.

                   629        ii.    Mary Jane GOENS was born 8 January 1919 and died 11 May 2000 at age 81. Mary Jane married Gloster E. MYERS 26 March 1946 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Gloster was born 26 May 1917 and died 12 June 1989 at age 72. The couple resided in Coshocton County, Ohio and both were buried in Memory Gardens there.

                   630       iii.    Alice Faye GOENS was born 7 January 1920 and died 20 February 2009 in  Achorage, Anchorage County, Alaska at age 89. She married Herschel Charles ELKINS 27 June 1944 in Dayton. He was born 22 October 1919 in West Jersey Township, Stark County, Illinois, the son of McClellan and Celia (Reeves) Elkins, and died 9 November 2002 in Anchorage at age 83. Both Alice and Herschel were buried in Fort Richardson, Anchorage.

                   631       iv.    Dorothy Maxine GOENS was born 12 February 1921 and married Charles Edward SMITH 11 January 1943 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. He was born 11 June 1890 in Dayton and died in October 1954 at age 64. Dorothy married second Paul  Emerson RICE 15 January 1956 in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio. He was born in 1918 and died 3 October 1961 in Dayton at age 43. Dorothy died  23 April 2007 at age 86.

                   632        v.    Robert Raymond GOENS was born 9 February 1922 and died 17 February 2007 in South Carolina at age 85. He was buried in Barrrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida. Robert married Margaret PARTON in Dumbarton, Scotland 7 April 1945. She was born 17 June 1923 and died 22 September 2003 at age 80 in South Carolina.  Robert served in the United States Navy, retiring in 1966 in Pensacola where he resided 37 years. While in the Navy he was involved in numerous battles and received numerous awards. He served on the USS Hull during the attack on Pearl Harbor and also fought in the invasion of Normandy, the Korean War and Vietnam War. His medals received during service include the American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Occupational Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Robert was a lifetime member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the Pearl Harbor Survivors. Robert and Margaret had four daughters.

                   633       vi.    Lawrence Earl GOENS was born 25 March 1928 and died 25 January 2002 at age 73 in Sierra Vista, Cochise County, Arizona. Lawrence married  Yasuko NAKAMURA.

                   634      vii.    Delores Fern GOENS was born 21 May 1931 and died at age 71 on 29 October 2002 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio.

                   635      viii.    David Eugene GOENS was born 2 May 1924 and died 13 August 1981 in California at age 57. He married 16 July 1952 Margaret Patricia GERBRACH in Long Beach California. Margaret was born  30 october 1926 and died 21 September 2005 at age 78 in California. The couple was buried in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside County, California.
