     225.  Alonzo6 MOORE (John S.5, Rebecca4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 27 July 1865 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died in 1952 at age 87.

     He married Adaline PRICE circa 1886 in Bedford County. Adaline, the daughter of Daniel and Ellen Price, was born 14 November 1867 in Bedford County and died 16 November 1938 at age 71.

     Known children of Alonzo6 MOORE and Adaline PRICE, all born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                629       i.    Lloyd H.7 MOORE was born 11 September 1886.  He died 13 February 1973 at age 86 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  Lloyd married circa 1916 Goldie SPENCER who was born  in Bedford County 26 June 1897, the daughter of Grant A. and Liddie R. Spencer, and died 23 December 1974 at age 77. Their children were Martha Jane, born 29 February 1917 and died 14 January 1977 at age 59 who married first Paul REED and second Michael RINEHART; Harvey Alonzo, born 29 September 1919 and died 26 January 2002 at age 82 who married Eleanor STRYKER; Stanley, born in 1921 and died in 1930, after April 21st, at age 9 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery; Sylvia; Emory J., born 6 July 1925 and died 2 May 2007 at age 81 whose last known residence was Willamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; Junior Lee, born 22 November 1927 and died 26 January 1950 at age 22; Alma Loretta; Earl R. who married Shirley A. TRIMBEL; Wayne; Dorothy Fay, born 11 July 1935 and died 11 March 2006 at age 70, who married Thomas Wilmer HEMPHILL; and Patsy Lou, who married first Merlin WELCH and second Charles SHOLLEY.

                630      ii.    Ella May MOORE was born 24 September 1888 and died 5 January 1960 at age 71. She married circa 1911 Joseph E. IMLER, the son of Andrew C. and Ellen Imler, who was born 22 April 1895 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died in November 1954 at age 59. Their children were Dorothy Leora who was born 15 January 1912 and married Eugene W. DERMER; Ethel Marie, who was born 15 August 1915 and married John Warren OLDHAM; Lillian, born 3 July 1919 and died 24 February 1976 at age 56 who married Marion ROBLEY; Andrew Alonzo, born 4 September 1921 and died 18 November 1945 at age 24; Helen Alice, born 25 February 1924 and died 1 January 1940 at age 15; Freda May, born in 1927 and died 25 June 1967 at age 40; and Betty Josephine who married Donald HOUP.

                631     iii.    Russell Cashia MOORE was born 19 April 1890.  He died 7 March 1960 at age 69.  Russell married circa 1912 Mary “Mollie” BRALLIER who was born circa 1879 and died 19 November 1955. The couple resided in Johnstown, Cambria, County, Pennsylvania where in 1930 Russell was a truck driver for a lumber company. They had no children.

                632      iv.    John Roy MOORE, called Roy, was born 1 April 1896.  He died 22 April 1982 at age 86. Roy married circa 1918 Viola STUTZMAN who was born 21 April 1900 and died 18 March 1972 at age 71 and they had a son Byron Lee who married Lois KUNKLE. The family resided in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania where Roy worked in a steel mill.

                633       v.    James Ira MOORE, called Ira, was born 11 August 1907 in Pennsylvania and died in 1994 at age 87.  He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  Ira married circa 1928 Gladys V. DIEHL, the daughter of Clarence and Carrie Diehl, who was born 26 July 1908 in Colerain Township, Bedford County and died 25 November 2003 at age 95. She was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. Their children were William Cambol who married first Doris June WORRELL and second Ethel Louise WINEGARDNER; Betty Lou who married George Michael SHAFFER; James Robert who married Geraldine Joyce SHEIRER; Jack Eugene who married Sylvia Jane BOOR; Nancy Kay who married first GERALD WEAVER and second Luther Allen BAREFOOT; and Connie Rae who married James William HARBAUGH.

 

     226.  Howard F.6 MOORE (John S.5, Rebecca4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born in 1867 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died in 1928 in Pennsylvania at age 61.

     He married first circa 1892 in Bedford County Magdaline May [--?--] who was born in May 1871 in Pennsylvania.  She was known as Maggie and died in 1915 in Pennsylvania at age 44.  Howard married second Blanche ALLISON circa 1918 in Pennsylvania. Blanche was born 21 February 1894 in Pennsylvania and died 17 July 1967 at age 73. She was perhaps married before, or at least had a child by another man, for in the 1920 federal census Paul E. Leventry, age 3 years, 4 months, was listed as stepson to Howard. This child was adopted by Howard, taking his surname. He was born 26 March 1916 and died 16 April 1978 at age 62 and married Hazel Lucille Wingard.

     Known children of Howard F.6 MOORE and Magdaline May [--?--], all born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                634       i.    Wilbur Dorsey7 MOORE, sometimes known as Dorsey, was born 31 August 1893.  He died 19 February 1971 in Pennsylvania at age 77. Wilbur married circa 1919 Bertha ROWSER, the daughter of Martin and Mary Rowser, who was born 2 November 1885 in Pennsylvania and died 8 August 1957 at age 71. They had a daughter Ella Mae who married Kenneth James GOLDBACH.

                635      ii.    Walter Richard MOORE was born in March 1896.  He died 21 October 1911 in Pennsylvania at age 15.

                636     iii.    John G. MOORE was born 25 May 1903 and died 10 October 1922 at age 19.

     Known children of Howard F.6 MOORE and Blanche ALLISON, both born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

     230.  Lizzie M.6 MOORE (John S.5, Rebecca4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 16 May 1876 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died 1 December 1936 in Pennsylvania at age 60.

     She married John Franklin FEATHERS circa 1897 in Pennsylvania.  John was born 2 August 1874 in Pennsylvania, the son of Moses and Henrietta Feathers, and died 19 March 1925 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 50.  He was an insurance agent in the 1900 census; a teamster for an ice company in 1910, and a steel mill laborer in 1920.

     Known children of Lizzie M.6 MOORE and John F. FEATHERS, all born in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                639       i.    John7 FEATHERS was born in May 1898 and died 2 March 1901 in Pennsylvania at age 2.

                640      ii.    Zona FEATHERS, a twin, was born 19 March 1901 and died 11 May 1977 at age 76. She never married and her last known address was Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

                641     iii.    Zola FEATHERS, a twin, was born 19 March 1901.  She died 30 October 1936 at age 35.

                642      iv.    Gilbert Franklin FEATHERS was born 12 October 1912 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 11 January 1985 in Pennsylvania at age 72.  His last known residence was Butler County, Pennsylvania. Gilbert married Margaret Arlene BLOUGH and they had a son Gilbert Leon.

                643       v.    Leon Moore FEATHERS was born 13 September 1917 and died 5 May 1989 in Ohio at age 71. His last known residence was Willoughby, Lake County, Ohio.  Leon married Nell SEESE and they had children Leon Gilbert; Barry Arthur; Douglas Charles; Gregory John; and Deborah Ann.

 

     231.  Harry Smith6 MOORE (John S.5, Rebecca4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 25 November 1878 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 9 March 1950 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 71.

     Harry married Elizabeth Pearl SUTER, the daughter of Simon P. and Ida M. Suter, circa 1905 in Bedford County.  Elizabeth, who was also known as Pearl, was born 6 August 1883 in Pennsylvania.  She died 30 December 1935 in Pennsylvania at age 52.

     Known children of Harry Smith6 MOORE and Elizabeth Pearl SUTER, all born in Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                644       i.    Herbert J.7 MOORE was born 29 December 1906 and died 15 February 1924 at age 17.

                645      ii.    Eva Elizabeth MOORE was born 7 August 1910.  She died 5 April 1997 in California at age 86. Eva married Stanford R. OLDHAM, the son of Collins E. and Carrie E. Oldham, who was born 4 June 1912 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and died 14 July 1998 at age 76. Their children were Ruth Eva who married Clair MILLER; Donald Stanford, born 29 March 1934 and died 24 December 1982 at age 48 who married Helen GERULA; Doris Ann who married Jerry Lee SHEPHERD; James Ross who married Patricia MCCARA; and Roy Allen who married Donna COOLEY.

                646     iii.    Homer W. MOORE was born 20 March 1913 and died 29 September 1999 in Pennsylvania at age 86.  He married Verda C. CALLIHAN, the daughter of Ross and Mary Callihan, who was born 19 January 1918 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and died 8 September 2005 at age 87.  Their children were Richard Homer who married Edith Ellen WEYANT; and Barbara Ann who married Ronald Lee ENSLEY.

                647      iv.    Rebecca Irene MOORE was born 2 November 1916. She married Randall R. MCCREARY, the son of William A. and Elizabeth M. McCreary, who was born 15 November 1907 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Their children were Janet Fay who married Edward Lewis ERJAVECK; Marion Lee who married Ronald D. HEIDORN; Susan Pearl who married first William BIGGERS and second Gene KIESSLING; Leita Christine who married Kermit RICE; and Joan Kay who married Randall KING.

                648       v.    Ross Suter MOORE was born 20 September 1919 and died in February 1986 in Pennsylvania at age 66. He married Anna Lee HOLLER who was born 23 February 1925 and died 15 February 1984 at age 58. They had children Annette Blanche, born and died in 1949; Alan Ross, born and died in 1950; and two adopted daughters Lynn Ross and Melissa Lee.

 

     232.  Sarah R.6 MOORE (Alexander5, Rebecca4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born circa 1870 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She married Silas Alexander BONNER circa 1895 in Pennsylvania.

     Silas was born 24 March 1870 in Pennsylvania and died 10 March 1956 at age 85.  He was a clerk in a railroad depot in the 1910 federal census for Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania, and in 1920 was an ice cream manufacturer.

     Known children of Sarah R.6 MOORE and Silas Alexander BONNER were:

                649       i.    Robert Alexander7 BONNER was born in 1902 in Pennsylvania.  He died in 1958 at age 56.

 

     233.  Margaret M.6 MOORE (Alexander5, Rebecca4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born in April 1877 in Pennsylvania.

     She married circa 1902 Preston H. MARKLEY who was born circa 1877 in Pennsylvania.  Preston, Margaret and family lived in Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia where he was a stenographer for a construction company in 1920 and for an insurance office in 1930.

     Known children of Margaret M.6 MOORE and Preston H. MARKLEY, both born in Pennsylvania are as follows:

                650       i.    Joseph A.7 MARKLEY was born circa 1905. He was a doctor.

                651      ii.    Harrison M. MARKLEY was born 26 August 1908 and died in February 1986 at age 77.  His last known residence was Austin, Travis County, Texas.

 

     237.  Jane6 CAUFFIEL (Mary E.5 Hammer, Elizabeth4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 9 May 1860 in Jenner Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  She died 20 April 1940 at age 79.

     Jane married David LOHR around 1885. David was born in 1860 in Pennsylvania and died 18 December 1914 at age 54. Jane lived with her brother Alexander in August 1900 according to her mother’s obituary, but she, and Alexander, were not located in the census enumerated in June of that year. In 1910 her children, Nettie and Lloyd, had been hired out to other families in Jenner Township  – Lloyd to his uncle Alexander Cauffiel and Nettie to her uncle John Cauffiel – and neither Jane nor David were located in the census for that year.  In her brother Daniel’s 1934 obituary Jane was listed as Mrs. Jane Thomas of near Boswell in Somerset County and her name was given as Jane Cook in her brother John's 1955 obituary, indicating she had at least two subsequent marriages. However, Jane cannot be located in either the 1920 or 1930 federal censuses. She was also known as Mary Jane according to her brother Joseph Cauffiel's 1932 obituary. 

     Known children of Jane A.6 CAUFFIEL and David LOHR, both born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania were as follows:

                652       i.    Nettie Elizabeth7 LOHR was born 21 April 1886 and died in 1969 at age 83. She married Jeffrey YATES who died in 1937. They had a daughter Ruth Elizabeth born 20 December 1914 and died in 1971 at age 57 who married Alan DALEY.

                653      ii.    Lloyd Lavan LOHR was born 16 December 1889 and died 28 November 1962 at age 72. He married first circa 1911 Mary Ellen SPORTY who was born 26 July 1891 and died 4 January 1929 at age 37. They had children Melda Leora,  born and died in 1912; Mildred Lorene who married first Norman GOOD and second Melvin HERMAN; Meredith Lavan who married Arlene Baker DARR; Marjorie Jane who married Paul Whitman WRIGHT; and Melba Laverne who married first Herbert Booth HOOVER and second Roy ROBERTSON.  Lloyd married second Carrie Mae SHAULIS who was born 23 January 1902 and died 4 November 1978 at age 76. He had a daughter with her. In the 1920 federal census Lloyd and family resided in Jenner Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and in the 1930 census were in that county but in Conemaugh Township.

 

     238.  James Hammer6 CAUFFIEL (Mary E.5 Hammer, Elizabeth4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 15 August 1862 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  He died 17 August 1930 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 68.

     James married Jennie Elizabeth SELLERS 15 August 1888 in Pennsylvania. Jennie was born 9 June 1866 in Pennsylvania and died 2 October 1919 in Toledo at age 53.  She was the daughter of Frederick and Margretta B. (Riehl) Sellers and sister of Rebecca Brinton Sellers who married Joseph Cauffiel, James’ brother. (see #243 below)  By the 1900 federal census James, Jennie and family resided in Ross Township, Wood County, Ohio where James was purchasing agent for a glass works. They moved to Toledo and in 1910 James was manager of a machine company. He later was president of a steel manufacturing company in that city.

     Known children of James Hammer6 CAUFFIEL and Jennie Elizabeth SELLERS were as follows:

                654       i.    Rosella7 CAUFFIEL was born 28 July 1889 in Pennsylvania.  She died 10 November 1970 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 81. Called Zella, she never married.

                655      ii.    Daniel Wood CAUFFIEL was born 30 July 1891 in Pennsylvania.  He died 20 August 1979 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 88. Daniel married Nellie THORPE 9 January 1943. Nellie was born 3 March 1894 and died in Toledo in November 1973 at age 79.

                656     iii.    James Ford CAUFFIEL was born 4 December 1893 in Pennsylvania and died 23 December 1923 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, at age 30. He married Hildreth A. MILEY 28 September 1921 and their children were James Robert born 20 July 1922 and died 20 March 2005 at age 82, and Janet Belle who married Henry Peter STREICHER.

                657      iv.    Joseph Lowell CAUFFIEL was born 4 July 1896 in Pennsylvania and died 27 July 1981 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 85.  He married first Elda BEYARD 17 December 1918 and their children were Lowell, born 28 September 1919 in Toledo and died 29 September 1997 at age 78 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, who married Ursula Irene ZULKA; Wilma June who married Donald Charles DOMINIQUE; and Daniel Wood, born 4 January 1927 in Toledo and died 1 November 1990 in New Jersey at age 63, who married [--?--] NAGLE. Joseph married second Grace Brown PATTERSON in December 1961.

                658       v.    John CAUFFIEL was born 22 July 1901 in Ohio.  He died in April 1972 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 70. John married Eloise Katherine HUEBNER 3 June 1925 in Toledo. Eloise was born 2 February 1902 and died in Toledo in January 1973 at age 70.

                659      vi.    Marjorie Belle CAUFFIEL was born 31 May 1906 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.  She died 10 December 1974 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 68. Marjorie married Harold William MORGAN 19 January 1936 in New York City, New York.

 

     239.  John6 CAUFFIEL (Mary E.5 Hammer, Elizabeth4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 10 August 1864 in Jenner Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  He died 18 April 1955 in Boswell, Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 90, and was buried in Jenner Township Baptist Church Cemetery, Somerset County.

     John married Rachel Emma RHOADS circa 1905 in Pennsylvania.  Rachel, the daughter of Edward and Mary Rhoads, was born 26 March 1878 in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, and died 14 March 1947 in Somerset County at age 68. She was sister to Lucinda Edna Rhoads who married John’s brother Alexander Cauffiel. (see #244 below)

     Known children of John6 CAUFFIEL and Rachel Emma RHOADS, all born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                660       i.    John Edward7 CAUFFIEL was born 26 August 1916 and died 6 October 1916 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He never married.

                661      ii.    Anna Frances Fern CAUFFIEL was born 20 September 1919 and died in April 1962 at age 42. She married John BUREK.

                662     iii.    Daniel Earl CAUFFIEL was born 30 May 1921 and died 16 May 1997 in Pennsylvania at age 75. He married Julia BOJAK.

 

     240.  Solomon Hammer6 CAUFFIEL (Mary E.5 Hammer, Elizabeth4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 22 April 1866 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and died 2 February 1949 at age 82.

     In his mother Mary’s 1900 obituary he was listed as a councilman for the 17th ward, Johnstown, Cambria County, and his name was given as Hammer Cauffiel, a name that also appears in the 1900 and 1910 federal censuses.  Hammer and his younger brother Joseph were in the real estate and loan business for a time together in Johnstown. The company was called Cauffiel Bros., Inc. By 1910 he operated a coal mine and in the 1930 federal census he was a sales agent for a coal mine.

     Hammer married Anna Elizabeth KEIM circa 1891 in Pennsylvania. Anna was born 6 April 1869 and died 14 September 1947 at age 78.

     Known children of Solomon Hammer6 CAUFFIEL and Anna Elizabeth KEIM were as follows:

                663       i.    Isabelle7 CAUFFIEL was born in February 1892 in Pennsylvania. She married first circa 1911 George Wilbur MOSES and second Alexander H. LOUTHER, who was born circa 1891 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, the son of William C. and Elizabeth Louther, and was a lawyer in that city.  Her children with Alexander were Janet E.; William A., born 8 August 1916 and died in March 1986 at age 69 whose last known residence was West Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut; Paul C., born 26 May 1918 and died 1 December 2000 at age 82 whose last known residence was Rochester, Monroe County, New York; Martha I.; and John H., born 17 April 1924 and died 6 February 2003 at age 78 whose last known residence was North Windham, Windham County, Connecticut.

                664      ii.    Paul Wendell CAUFFIEL was born 2 March 1895 in Pennsylvania. He married circa 1922 Adelene WILLIAMS who was born 10 March 1900 and died in May 1982 at age 82. Her last known residence was Ft. Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida. Their known children were Paul W., born 10 December 1923 and died in July 1978 at age 54 in Florida; and Dorothy.

                665     iii.    Mark Keim CAUFFIEL was born 11 January 1900 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.  He died 15 December 1962 at age 62. Mark married Elizabeth GAFFNEY who was born 29 June 1904 and died 19 June 1994 at age 89. Her last known residence was Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania

                666      iv.    Ernest S. CAUFFIEL was born 22 May 1902 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.  He died in April 1983 in Pennsylvania at age 80. Ernest married Esther Louise CARR, the daughter of Scott Winfield and Mary Esther Carr, who was born 12 September 1906 in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, and died in December 1994 at age 88. They resided in Johnstown.

 

     241.  Daniel Maddox6 CAUFFIEL (Mary E.5 Hammer, Elizabeth4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 22 June 1867 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and died between 1920 and 1930, likely in New Castle County, Delaware at age 66.

     Daniel was a real estate agent for the E.I. du Pont Nemours Company in Wilmington at the time of his death. When young he opened a stone quarry in Stonycreek Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania and later became interested in the coal business, establishing the Sunnyside Coal Company. He helped T. Coleman du Pont build the Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania street car line and later helped him build railway lines in Alabama and in New York state. In the 1900 federal census Daniel and his family resided in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama.

     Daniel married in 1888 Elizabeth Eva LEVENTRY who was born 28 December 1867, the daughter of Henry and Mary Catherine (Wulbrandt) Leventry of Germany.  Elizabeth died 16 October 1935 at age 67. In the 1930 federal census for Brandywine Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware, Elizabeth was head of household, with marital status given as widow. Residing with her are children Luella, DeWitt, Daniel and T. Coleman.

     Known children of Daniel Maddox6 CAUFFIEL and Elizabeth Eva LEVENTRY, all but the second from the youngest born in Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                667       i.    Luella K.7 CAUFFIEL was born 5 April 1890 and died 17 June 1992 at age 102, according to the Social Security Death Index. She never married.

                668      ii.    Chalmer D. CAUFFIEL was born in September 1891. He married Gladys C. [--?--] circa 1912. She was born circa 1894 in Maryland. They had daughters Joan; Betty (in 1930 census; Doris in 1920); and Janet. 

                669     iii.    Dewitt T. CAUFFIEL was born 6 October 1893 and died 17 April 1990 at age 96.

                670      iv.    Beatrice M. CAUFFIEL was born in August 1895 and married William HALL.

                671       v.    Hazel Elnedia CAUFFIEL was born 7 December 1897 and married first Charles Harold SICKLE and second Harold MICKEL.

                672      vi.    Daniel W. CAUFFIEL was born 2 November 1899 in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama and died in April 1984 at age 84.  His last known residence was Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware.

                673     vii.    T. Coleman CAUFFIEL was born circa 1906.

 

     243.  Joseph6 CAUFFIEL (Mary E.5 Hammer, Elizabeth4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 8 October 1870 in Jenner Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  He died 9 July 1932 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 61, and was buried in Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Forwardstown, Somerset County.

     Joseph went to Pittsburgh in January 1892 to study at Iron City Business College. Upon returning to Johnstown, he engaged in real estate and the loan business with his brother Solomon. Their company was named Cauffiel Bros., Inc.  Joseph was elected mayor of Johnstown in the fall of 1911, and was twice re-elected to the same office, first in 1920 and then in 1928. At one time he was an independent candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania and was a friend and supporter of Theodore Roosevelt, serving as a delegate to the "Bull Moose" National Convention in 1912.  Interestingly, Joseph was enumerated as a laborer in the Cambria County Jail in Ebensburg in the 1930 federal census, leaving Rebecca, his wife, as head of household in Johnstown.

     Joseph married Rebecca Brinton SELLERS 15 June 1898 in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Rebecca, who also went by her middle name Brinton, was born 21 March 1877 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Frederick and Margretta B. (Riehl) Sellers. Her sister Jennie married Joseph’s brother James H. Cauffiel. (see #238 above)  Rebecca died 13 May 1954 in Pennsylvania at age 77.

     Known children of Joseph6 CAUFFIEL and Rebecca Brinton SELLERS were as follows:

                674       i.    Margretta7 CAUFFIEL was born 5 April 1899 in Pennsylvania.  She died 14 October 1985 in Pennsylvania at age 86 and was buried in Jenner Township Baptist Church Cemetery, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  Margretta never married. In the 1930 federal census for Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, she was enumerated as a teacher at The Taylor, a Friends Home located at 2001 Park Ave.

                675      ii.    Meade CAUFFIEL was born 7 August 1902 in Pennsylvania.  He died in July 1968 in Pennsylvania at age 65. Meade received an A.B. degree from Haverford College and did post-graduate work at both Harvard and Yale. He worked in his father’s and uncle’s business, Cauffiel Bros., Inc. in Johnstown. Meade married Clyde Carland MACKENZIE in Washington D.C. 14 June 1932 not long before his father's death. She was born 20 November 1907 in Julian, Olean County, Pennsylvania and died 30 October 1990 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 82. Her parents were Rawlin and Bessie M. (Carland) MacKenzie. Meade and Clyde had two children.

                676     iii.    Mary Helen CAUFFIEL, called Helen, was born 18 July 1908 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.  She married Clyde R. LOVINGOOD who was born 29 September 1905 and died 28 December 1987 at age 82. His last known address was Hendersonville, Henderson County, North Carolina. Helen and Clyde had two children.

                677      iv.    Eleanor May CAUFFIEL was born 6 February 1912 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.  She died 28 May 2001 in Painted Post, Steuben County, New York, at age 89. Eleanor graduated from Hood College first in her class with a degree in chemistry. She taught science at Cochran Junior High School until marrying Campbell RUTLEDGE, Jr., on 7 August 1940 in Johnstown at the home of her parents. Cam, as he was called, was born 18 September 1912 in Cambria County, the son of Campbell and Maud Rutledge, and died 20 January 1980 at age 67. The couple had no children and resided in Corning, Steuben County, New York where Cam worked for Corning, Inc.

                678       v.    Brinton Elizabeth CAUFFIEL was born 18 January 1918 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.  She died 3 February 2005 in Painted Post, New York, at age 87.  She was also known as Betty per the 1920 and 1930 censuses.  Betty married William H. TOMB, Jr., who was born 27 May 1912 and died 1 September 1979 at age 67. The couple had four children.

 

     244.  Alexander H.6 CAUFFIEL (Mary E.5 Hammer, Elizabeth4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 3 July 1872 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  He died in 1924 at age 52.

     Alexander married Lucinda Edna RHOADS circa 1906 in Somerset County. Lucinda was born 7 December 1884 in Pennsylvania and died 9 July 1965 at age 80.  She was the daughter of Edward and Mary Rhoads and sister to Rachel Emma Rhoads who married Alexander’s brother John Cauffiel. (see #239 above)

     Known children of Alexander H.6 CAUFFIEL and Lucinda Edna RHOADS, all born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                679       i.    Rev. Daniel Edward7 CAUFFIEL was born 25 January 1907 and died 20 November 1998 in Pennsylvania at age 91. Also known as Edward, he married Olive K. MOSHOLDER, the daughter of Edward C. and Mary a. Mosholder, who was born 6 November 1907 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 7 April 1995 at age 87. Her last known residence was Johnstown, Cambria County. They had a daughter.

                680      ii.    Joseph Norman CAUFFIEL was born 8 October 1908 and died 24 May 1994 at age 85. His last known residence was Farmington, Oakland County, Michigan. Norman, as he was often called, married Agatha CENTALA who was born 4 November 1912 in Metz, Presque Isle, Michigan, the daughter of Watson and Hedwig ‘Hattie’ Centala, he of Germany and she of Russia. Agatha died 12 July 2000 at age 87. Norman and Agatha had a son.

                681     iii.    Mary Maybelle CAUFFIEL was born 8 December 1910 and married Homer G. HORNER who was born 6 June 1908 and died 3 March 1938 at age 29. Mary died 16 August 2000 at age 89. Her last known residence was Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. The couple had three children.

                682      iv.    Millard Rhoads CAUFFIEL was born 15 November 1912 and died 13 March 1978 at age 65. He married Dorene Arbutus BLOUGH, daughter of Josiah and Mary (Eppley) Blough 3 October 1936. She was born 26 January 1917 and died 5 March 1989 at age 72. Both were buried in Blough Mennonite Cemetery, Conemaugh Township, Somerset County. They had a daughter.

                683       v.    John Alexander CAUFFIEL was born 26 February 1915 and died 12 August 2001 at age 86. His last known residence was Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He married Ruth BRANT and they had three children. Ruth was born 18 March 1922 and died 2 March 1989 at age 66.

                684      vi.    Lester Earl CAUFFIEL was born 3 April 1917 and died 10 January 2007 in Pennsylvania at age 89.  His last known residence was New Kensington, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Lester was buried in Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Pennsylvania.  He married Virginia H. SALINA, or her last name may be Brother, who was born 13 September 1919 and died in January 1996 at age 76. Her last known residence was Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

                685     vii.    Lynn Elaine CAUFFIEL was born 29 December 1918 and died 18 November 2005 in Tyler, Smith County, Texas at age 86. She married 11 September 1937 Denton Ramon "Snuffy" Thomas who was born 1 June 1919 in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, and died 10 March 2002 in Chandler, Henderson County, Texas at age 82. Denton was operating engineer and road commissioner for Conemaugh Township for over 50 years and was the son of Leroy and Emma Viola (Eppley) Thomas. They had five children. Lynn was a retired Avon sales representative at the time of her death.

                686    viii.    Ann Norma Jane CAUFFIEL was born 15 August 1921 and died 30 June 2002 at age 80 at Laurel View Village, Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. She was buried in Thomas Mennonite Cemetery.  Ann married Virgil Paul BLOUGH, son of Stephen and Effie (Sala) Blough 27 June 1941 and they had three children.

 

     245.  Charlotte Elizabeth6 CAUFFIEL (Mary E.5 Hammer, Elizabeth4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 9 October 1876 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  She died 7 April 1952 at age 75.   She was known by the name of Lizzie.

     Lizzie married circa 1897 Harry SLAGLE who was born 7 September 1872.  He died 17 May 1946 at age 73.

     Known children of Charlotte Elizabeth6 CAUFFIEL and Harry SLAGLE were as follows:

                687       i.    Marian Root7 SLAGLE was born 2 September 1898 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and died 21 March 1968 at age 69. She married circa 1922 Paul John SAUERS who was born 6 February 1897 and died 11 January 1971 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 73. Their children were Betty J. and Paul John, Jr., who was born 3 May 1928 and died 5 March 2004 at age 75 who married Mary Jane HLAVATY.

                688      ii.    Bertha SLAGLE was born 11 February 1901 in Pennsylvania.  She died 26 February 1982 in Pennsylvania at age 81. Bertha married George Homer WYATT who was born 26 August 1900 and died 13 September 1980 at age 80.

                689     iii.    John Womer SLAGLE was born 29 April 1902 in Pennsylvania and died 4 June 1973 at age 71. He married first circa 1928 Louise M. COOK who was born circa 1902 and they had children John A. and Leona S. In the 1930 federal census John, Louise and their son were in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky where John was a salesman. John married second Helen RIDENOUR.

                690      iv.    Eva May SLAGLE was born 29 September 1903 in Pennsylvania and died 30 September 1903 in Pennsylvania.

                691       v.    Joseph Cauffiel SLAGLE was born 7 March 1905 in Pennsylvania.  He died 30 January 1991 at age 85. Joseph married Naomi Vivian MANGES who was born 11 September 1903 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Mason A. and Melvina Manges. She died 3 April 1968 at age 64.

                692      vi.    Daniel Hammer SLAGLE was born 11 August 1911 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.  He died 15 July 1983 in Pennsylvania at age 71. Daniel married Mary Lou MURR, the daughter of John and Catherine Murr, and they adopted a son. Mary was born circa 1913 in Johnstown.

                693     vii.    Harry Charles SLAGLE was born 18 May 1913 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.  He died 12 August 1967 in Pennsylvania at age 54. Harry married Alice Ruth MOON who was born 7 May 1913, the daughter of Ira J. and Elizabeth M. Moon, and died 24 December 1956 at age 43.

 

     317.  Idella Catherine6 BAREFOOT (Espy M.5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 18 February 1870 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 4 September 1955 at age 85.

     Della, as she was known, married Wilson Decker MOCK 10 July 1890 in Bedford County.  Wilson, the son of David B. and Elizabeth A. (Colebaugh) Mock, was born 14 May 1869 in Bedford County and died 8 July 1948 in Pennsylvania at age 79. He was a school teacher.

                694       i.    Alice B.7 MOCK was born 21 December 1890 and died 15 December 1981 at age 90.  She married 7 October 1909 Roy Clinton CORLE, the son of William C. and Melinda (Allison) Corle, who was born 26 March 1889 and died 7 March 1975 at age 85. Their children were Amelia who married first Jacob Russell FICKES and married second Glenn Roosevelt AKE; William Byron, called Byron, born 7 June 1912 and died 24 August 2004 at age 92 who married Tressa Mildred DIVELY and Katherine G. SCHAEFFER; Roy Eugene, called Eugene, born 13 September 1913 and died 14 May 2005 at age 91 who married Mollie M. WALTER; Glenn; Ruth Almeda who married Cletus Eugene ICKES; Miriam Pauline, born 5 September 1920 and died 6 October 1987 at age 67 who married Ralph Victor CHAPPELL; Una Roberta who married Ralph E. LANG; Arthur Wayne, called Wayne, born 7 October 1924 and died 27 June 2006 at age 81 who married first Opal Josephine MOCK and married second Karen Elaine NOON; Donald Paul, called Paul, who married Ruth Leona BOYER; and Gloria Janis who married John Leon CALLIHAN.

                695      ii.    John MOCK was born 23 November 1892.  He died 22 July 1970 at age 77. John married 6 April 1915 Ruth E. STAMBAUGH, the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Mock) Stambaugh, who was born in 1896 and died 23 August 1984 at age 88. Their children were Letha who married John Franklin SHIPMAN; Joseph, born 15 July 1917 and died 10 September 1988 at age 71 who married Sue Evelyn DAVIS; Allene, who married William John RIEGEL; Vernon, born  28 August 1921 and died 9 October 1999 in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania at age 78 who married 8 April 1939 Nellie Mae FEATHER; Evelyn, who married Harry HAHN; Fred, who married Agnes YARLETT; Benjamin, born 17 January 1928 and died 29 March 1994 at age 66 who married Pearl Esther NAVE; Jane, who married James Edward BALME, Jr.; and Jack, born 19 March 1933 and died 9 June 1994 at age 61 who married Virginia Margaret MANGES.

                696     iii.    Florence MOCK was born 11 October 1894 and died 28 April 1986 at age 91. Her last known residence was Imler, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  Florence married 27 July 1922 Arthur F. OGDEN who was born 6 December 1890 and died in April 1982 at age 81. His last known residence was St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida.

                697      iv.    Harry MOCK was born 15 February 1898.  He died 3 May 1988 in Pennsylvania at age 90. Harry married 16 February 1916 Nora P. MCDONALD who was born 28 October 1895 and died 28 March 1976 at age 80.  Their children were Lucille, born in November 1915 and died in April 1916; Gerald, born in May 1917 and died in August 1917; Lois, born in December 1918 and died in 1971 at age 53 who married Clyde LAPE; Elda P. who married Jack SUNSHINE;  Betty J., who married Edward STEPHENS;  Carol, who married [--?--] RICHARDS; Harry Jr., who married Margaret CARRIE; and Eugene D., who married first Nancy LAWHEAD and second Lois CHAPMAN.

                698       v.    Lavanda MOCK was born 6 August 1900 and died 24 February 1904 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania at age 3.

                699      vi.    Roberta MOCK was born 31 January 1903 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died in 1932 at age 29.  Roberta married 3 August 1923 Chester Arthur GOCHNOUR, the son of David and Elizabeth (Burkett) Gochnour, who was born 26 September 1899 and died 2 October 1975 at age 76. Their children were Janet Louise, who married John Russell HOOVER, and Arthur Fay, who married Dorothy Frances SELL.

                700     vii.    Clair MOCK married 6 April 1930 Ruth Lillian BOWSER who was born 14 June 1907 and died 20 January 2003 at age 95. Their children were Elaine M. who married [--?--] SOLLENBERGER; Arthur C., born 22 September 1935 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and died 3 April 2006 at age 70 in his hunting cabin in Lincoln Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania who married Evelin OTTO; Donna J. who married James Lowell EVERHART; and Nancy R. who married Ivan MITCHELL.  Clair variously worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Altoona, Blair County, the brick plant at Sproul, New Enterprise Stone & Lime, and Sealtest Dairy from which he retired in 1972.  He was a member of the Dunnings Creek Church of the Brethren. The original church, located between Pleasantville and Ryot in Bedford County was built on land donated by his great-great-grandfather Christian Mock in 1843.

                701    viii.    Vesta MOCK was born 20 May 1908 and died 6 January 1909 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                702      ix.    Almeda MOCK was born 14 July 1910 and died 10 February 2009 at age 98 in Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. She was buried in Fishertown Cemetery, Bedford County. On 24 May 1930 Almeda married Edward Grant ALLISON who was born 14 October 1907 and died 24 June 1955 at age 47. Their children were Mary Louise who married George Robert MICKEY and Robert BENNETT; Robert Dale who married Elva Ann GOODE; Donald Ralph, who married Naomi Joyce WHITCOMB; Sara Grace who married Ned Leo CLARK; Carol Jean who married William J. LOCHNER; and Edward Paul who married Valerie CRAWFORD.

                703       x.    Cloyd MOCK was born 9 July 1914 and died 1 December 1999 in Pennsylvania at age 85.

 

     318.  Jacob F.6 BAREFOOT (Espy M.5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 13 July 1874 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 2 August 1949 in Pennsylvania at age 75 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

     Jacob married Mary Susan HARBAUGH circa 1906 in Pennsylvania. Mary was born 14 May 1881 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of William Henry and Charlotte Lavina (Clark) Harbaugh. Her sister Nettie married Jacob’s brother Thomas R. Barefoot. (see #81 above) She died 21 October 1944 in Pennsylvania at age 63 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.

     Known children of Jacob F.6 BAREFOOT and Mary Susan HARBAUGH, all born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                704       i.    Viola7 BAREFOOT was born 19 March 1907.  She died 25 August 1907 in Pennsylvania and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                705      ii.    Harry F. BAREFOOT was born 25 February 1908 and died 1 January 1998 in Pennsylvania at age 89. He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  Harry married Leah F. BERKEY, the daughter of Michael Henry and Ardie (Claycomb) Berkey, who was born 17 June 1916. She died 28 July 2006 at age 90 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. Their children were Brant Ernest, born 19 October 1935 and died 13 Sep 1970 at age 34 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery; Carl R.; Beverly J.; Jay C.; Roy T.; Russell S.; Byron G., and Ronald V.

                706     iii.    Violet Lucille BAREFOOT was born 12 December 1910.  She died 22 June 2002 in Pennsylvania at age 91, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Viola never married.

 

     320.  Charles Ross6 BAREFOOT (Espy M.5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 10 March 1889 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 22 January 1969 in Pennsylvania at age 79, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Charles married Mary Elizabeth MICKLE circa 1912 in Pennsylvania. Mary, the daughter of William Border and Lilly Ellen (Blackburn) Mickle, was born 21 November 1890 in Pennsylvania.  She died 5 February 1976 in that state at age 85 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. Charles, Mary and family resided in West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

     Known children of Charles Ross6 BAREFOOT and Mary Elizabeth MICKLE, all born in West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                707       i.    Rayford Roy7 BAREFOOT was born 10 August 1913 and died 24 September 1914 in Pennsylvania at age 1.  He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                708      ii.    Dorothy Leona BAREFOOT was born 23 January 1915.  She died 3 February 1995 in Pennsylvania at age 80. Dorothy married Carl Ewalt  WENDEL, born 16 March 1912 and died 6 April 1991 at age 79. They had a daughter Carol Jean.

                709     iii.    Ruth Vera BAREFOOT was born 12 March 1916 and died 4 June 1997 in Pennsylvania at age 81.

She married Arthur Bisel MCMILLEN who was born 17 March 1911 and died 29 July 1991 at age 80. Their children were Janet Ruth; George Arthur; Richard Homer; Sally Ann; Charles Bisel, born 21 October 1940 and died in March 1941; James Ross and Patricia Ann.

                710      iv.    Alice Pearl BAREFOOT was born 27 December 1917 and died 24 November 1934 in Pennsylvania at age 16.  She was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                711       v.    Thelda Elizabeth BAREFOOT was born 21 November 1920.  She died 12 January 2004 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 83, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Thelda married Calvin Donald FLEEGLE, the son of John C. and Orie R. Fleegle. He was born 9 February 1917 in West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, and died 9 October 1993 at age 76.  Calvin was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. The couple had two sons: Donald Charles and Thomas Calvin.

                712      vi.    Ralph Frederick BAREFOOT was born 23 March 1923 and died 10 January 1988 at age 64. He married Lovesta Dolores DAVIS and their children were Sylvia Diane, Naomi Jean, Rayford Ralph, Brenda Lou and Patricia Ann.

                713     vii.    Glenn Espy BAREFOOT never married.

                714    viii.    Charles Ross BAREFOOT was born 2 January 1929 and died 31 December 1971 at age 42. He was buried in Bedford Memorial Cemetery in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  Charles married Lois Jane LAWHEAD and their children were Janet Louise, David Ross, Margaret Ann, Charles Kevin and Todd James.

                715      ix.    Lois Elda BAREFOOT married Lester Gerald MORRISON and their children were Cathy Elaine, Linda Sue, Lester Gerald, Jr. and Karen Louise.

                716       x.    Jack Alton BAREFOOT was born 3 August 1934.  He died 21 September 1999 in Pennsylvania at age 65 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Jack married first Yvonne ICKES and their children were Jacqueline Kay, Roxanne, Brad Alton, Mark Arthur and Wendy Sue. He married second Eleanor MCELWEE.

 

     321.  Harry Decker6 BAREFOOT (Espy M.5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 3 June 1892 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 28 January 1950 in Pennsylvania at age 57 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Harry married Elizabeth Jane BECKLEY circa 1914 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  Elizabeth, the daughter of William and Ellen (Oldham) Beckley, was born 5 April 1890 in Pennsylvania and died 25 October 1981 at age 91.  She was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.

     Known children of Harry Decker6 BAREFOOT and Elizabeth Jane BECKLEY, all born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                717       i.    Margaret G.7 BAREFOOT was born 15 October 1914 and died 4 May 2006 in Pennsylvania at age 91. She was buried in Richland Cemetery, Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. Margaret married Marion Enos BLACKBURN who was born 15 January 1914 and died 30 April 1978 at age 64. Their children were Marlene Louise; Shirley Carole, born 8 June 1935 and died 20 August 2001 at age 66 who married Kermit Merle “Jim” McMeans and resided in Burnsville, Dakota County, Minnesota; Nancy Elizabeth; and Peggy Ann.

                718      ii.    Kathryn Lucille BAREFOOT was born 11 November 1916 in Pennsylvania.  She died 15 August 1919 in Pennsylvania at age 2, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                719     iii.    Ruthanne E. BAREFOOT married Raymond Ray CARSON and they had a son James Raymond.

                720      iv.    Harry Fred BAREFOOT married Alma Jean LEVENTRY and their children were Gail Jean, Judy Marie, Thomas Fred and Ricky Bruce.

 

     328.  John Oscar6 BAREFOOT (James Alexander5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 2 September 1873 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 1 October 1942 in Bedford County at age 69, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Known as Oscar, he married Anna Mae CRISSMAN circa 1901 in Bedford County.  Anna, the daughter of Samuel Wisegarver and Sarah Margaret (Blackburn) Crissman, was born 12 April 1882 in Bedford County.  She died 15 July 1969 in Pennsylvania at age 87 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.

     Known children of John Oscar6 BAREFOOT and Anna Mae CRISSMAN, all born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                722       i.    Margaret Elizabeth7 BAREFOOT was born 25 August 1902.  She died 8 January 1989 at age 86. Margaret married circa 1923 Edward Russell WEYANT, born 25 October 1898 and died 13 April 1980 at age 81. Their children were Russell Otis; Dallas O., born 28 February 1927 and died 9 May 1993 at age 66 who married Anna Belle KNISELY; Joyce Elaine; Lowell E., born 28 May 1937 and died 5 December 1990 at age 63 who married Carol M. DILBERT; and Sandra Eileen.

                723      ii.    James Grow BAREFOOT was born 2 June 1904 and died 13 November 1960 at age 56.  He married Orpha QUERRY 27 June 1925 in Pleasantville, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She was born 10 October 1907, the daughter of Jessie S. and Anna Mary Ellen (Shaffer) Querry, and died 20 March 1997 at age 90.  Their children were Doris Elizabeth, James, Jr., Phyllis Ann, and Richard Kay.

                724     iii.    William Robert BAREFOOT was born 27 October 1905 and died 20 May 1972 in Indiana at age 66. He also went by the name Robert.  Robert married Elsie Isabelle BOWSER, the daughter of William and Agnes Mae (James) Bowser, who was born circa 1909 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Their children were Lowell Allen; Crissman Lowell, born 13 November 1935 and died 11 June 2006 at age 70 who married first Linda HYDE, married second Jeanie MARKLE, and married third Sandi JONES; and Ann Agnes.

                725      iv.    Catharine Doris BAREFOOT was born 15 May 1907.  She died 13 July 2002 in Pennsylvania at age 95.  Catharine married circa 1928 John Howard OTTO, the son of Harry Peter and Annie E. (Miller) Otto, who was born 10 March 1901 and died 17 October 1955 at age 54. Their children were Ruthanna Patricia, born 9 February 1929 and died 19 September 1973 at age 44 who married Jae Wesley BEATTY; Barbara Jean, born 7 September 1931 and died 20 March 1985 at age 53 who married Andrew RIGLER; William Frederick; and John Crissman.

                726       v.    Ruth Evelyn BAREOOT married Robert C. PARK and their children were Nancy Jean and Robert David.

                727      vi.    Wilmer Crissman BAREFOOT was born 18 July 1910.  He died 30 August 1910 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                728     vii.    Edmund Howard BAREFOOT was born 5 September 1911.  He died 24 April 1968 at age 56 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Edmund married Helen Elizabeth ALLISON and their children were Frederick Dean, Louise Beatrice, Charles Marlin, and Eleanor Charlene.

                729    viii.    Charles Owen BAREFOOT was born 19 February 1913 and died 5 August 1985 in Michigan at age 72. Also known as Owen, he married Jessie Laverne WRIGHT who was born 14 July 1919 and died 13 April 1998 in Michigan at age 79. Their children were Carol Jean, David Dale, Daniel Dean and twin Wayne, and William.

                730      ix.    Daniel Rayford BAREFOOT was born 11 February 1914 and died 20 January 1988 at age 73. Also known as Rayford, he married Melrose Anna SHIPPLEY who was born 23 February 1917 and died 28 June 2003 at age 86. Her last known residence was Havre de Grace, Harford County, Maryland. Their children were Daniel Crissman, Judith Ann, Dennis Ray, Patricia Louise, William Dean, and Cathy Jean.

                731       x.    Thomas Orville BAREFOOT was born 9 December 1915.  He died 8 July 1982 in Pennsylvania at age 66.  Also known as Orville, he married Dorothy Jayne ARMSTRONG and their children were Diane Louise, Kathy Jane, and Cynthia Lee.

                732      xi.    Frederick Dean BAREFOOT was born 15 May 1917 and died 5 September 1917 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

                733     xii.    Luther Wayne BAREFOOT was born 15 August 1918.  He died 4 March 1919 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

                734    xiii.    Bernard Blackburn BAREFOOT was born 27 October 1919.  He died 20 July 1994 at age 74. Bernard married his third cousin Lois Kathleen SAYLOR, daughter of William Meade Saylor and Carrie Dena Barefoot. They had children Gary Saylor and Becky Ann. (see #407 below)

                735    xiv.    Milford Allen BAREFOOT was born 13 January 1921 and died 26 October 1999 in Ohio at age 78. He married Margie Barbara WOODS and their children were Bonnie Sue, Richard Allen, Pamela Jo, Jacqueline Rae, Lee Ann, Thomas Edmund,and Marlena Chestoria.

 

     329.  Nathan Russell6 BAREFOOT (James Alexander5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 6 July 1875 in Pennsylvania.  He died 17 October 1921 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania at age 46, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Nathan married Wyzatta Bay WRIGHT in 1909 in Pennsylvania. Wyzatta was born 25 June 1884 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Darwin P. and Naomi D. (Gordon) Wright.  She died 29 November 1959 in Pennsylvania at age 75, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.  In the 1930 federal census Wyzatta was enumerated in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania.

     Known children of Nathan Russell6 BAREFOOT and Wyzatta Bay WRIGHT, all born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                736       i.    Naomi Elizabeth7 BAREFOOT was born 5 June 1910. She died 20 July 1995 at age 85. Naomi married Charles H. JONES who was born 9 September 1909 and died 4 September 1965. They had two sons Robert David, who was born 22 January 1933 and died 11 June 1933; and William Landis.

                737      ii.    Leah Alice BAREFOOT was born 18 December 1912 and died in November 1993 at age 80. Her last known residence was New York City, New York. She married William BROWN who was born 16 January 1910 and died 12 January 1994 at age 83. His last known residence was also New York City.

                738     iii.    Landis Elmer BAREFOOT was born 26 June 1914 and died 6 March 2001 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 86. He was buried in Richland Cemetery in Cambria County.  Landis served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II for 42 months as an instructor in gyro instruments at McClelland Field in Sacramento, California. He worked for 39 years in production control for Westinghouse Air Brake. Landis married Marietta May WINES and they had children Geoffrey Darwin, Kimberly May, and Beth Laverne.

                739      iv.    Erna Laverne BAREFOOT was born 23 June 1917 and died 5 November 1971 at age 54.  She married Gustav John BAUER who was born 9 June 1914 and died 20 April 1974 at age 59. Their children were John David and George Alan.

 

     330.  William Draper6 BAREFOOT (James Alexander5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 18 October 1876 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 22 October 1952 in Pennsylvania at age 76, and was buried in Dunmyer Lutheran Church Cemetery, Adams Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

     Draper William, as he was also known, and his family were in the 1920 federal census in Paint Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania where Draper was a coal miner. By 1930 they resided in Richland Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania and he was a farmer.

     Draper married first Anna L. LENTZ circa 1902 in Pennsylvania.  Anna died 14 August 1913 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County. He then married Ida May BAUMGARDNER circa 1915 in Pennsylvania.  Ida was born Ida Murphy 13 July 1876. She married circa 1897 Elmer Baumgardner, a butcher in Scalp Level, Cambria County who was born in July 1874. Ida and Elmer had children Harry Leroy, Ethel Mae and Ruth Esther. Ida died 2 October 1918 at age 42 and then Draper married Sarah CLAYCOMB circa 1919 in Pennsylvania. Sarah, the daughter of Jacob and Delilah (McDonald) Claycomb, was born 13 March 1893 in Pennsylvania. She died 30 October 1936 in that state at age 43 and was buried in Dunmyer Lutheran Church Cemetery.

                740       i.    Donald7 BAREFOOT was born 12 March 1905 in Pennsylvania.  He died 15 January 1979 at age 73. Donald married Wilda HALCOMB who was born in December 1901 in Nashville, Howard County, Arkansas, and died in 1939 at age 38. She was the daughter of Joseph and Essie R. Halcomb. Their children were Willis Ray, born 8 March 1926 and died 99 October 1995 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana at age 69 who married Susie H. HART; Charles Denver, and Draper Thomas.

                742      ii.    Virginia Elizabeth BAREFOOT was born 10 January 1917 and died 20 November 1989 at age 72. She married Roy A. HOFFMAN, the son of Peter and Ida Hoffman, born 3 November 1912 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 23 September 1975 at age 62. Their children were Norma Lee, born 21 May 1936 and died 19 June 1980 at age 44 who married Jamie Lon RICE; Carole Ruth, and Roy D.

                743       i.    Bernard E.7 BAREFOOT was born 7 May 1920 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  He died 19 May 1975 at age 55.

                744      ii.    Clarence D. BAREFOOT was born 30 June 1921 in Pennsylvania and died 28 March 1981 at age 59.  He married Eileen K. BURKE and their children were Judith A., Alan C., Denise Eileen and Mark J.

                745     iii.    Gladys Sarah BAREFOOT was born 1 September 1922 in Scalp Level, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.  She died 19 August 2000 in Salix, Cambria County at age 77, and was buried in St. Michael's Catholic Church Cemetery, Croyle Township, Cambria County. Gladys married Henry Joseph BRENNAN, born 25 June 1901 and died 6 June 1973 at age 71. Their children were Mary Louise, Patricia Ann, Helen Irene, Kathleen Gladys, and David Henry.

                746      iv.    Irene E. BAREFOOT married George H. PLUMMER, born 23 November 1926 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, the son of Oliver and Cecilia Plummer. He died 23 August 1993 at age 66. Their children were Linda R., George M. and Diane C. George was the son of Oliver and Celia A. (Cramer) Plummer.

                747       v.    Dean Martin BAREFOOT married Leona Annette PETRUN and their children were Robert Joseph, Cheryl Louise, Barry Dean and Debra Ann.

 

     331.  Clark Lorenzo6 BAREFOOT (James Alexander5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 4 September 1879 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died 12 November 1965 at age 86.

     In the 1880 federal census his name was given as Lorenzo C.  He and his family appeared on the census of 1910 in Allegheny Township, Blair County, Pennsylvania and he was a farmer.   In 1920 the family resided in West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, and Clark was a woodcutter. He also was enumerated in the 1920 census in the household of his brother-in-law John Edward Gates and family in Paint Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania where Clark worked as a riveter of steel railroad cars. By 1930 Clark and family were back in Blair County, this time in Freedom Township, and he was a laborer in a brick plant.

     Clark married Georgia Anna WEYANT circa 1902 in Pennsylvania.  Georgia was born in 1884 in Pennsylvania and died in 1972 at age 88.

                748       i.    Martha Ruella7 BAREFOOT was born 23 August 1903.  She died 7 November 1984 at age 81, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Martha married first circa 1921 Oran Elwood HEETER.  Oran, the son of Jesse and Katie Heeter, was born 23 September 1898 in Bedford County.  He died 21 April 1933 at age 34 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. Their children were Russell Oran, born 23 November 1923 and died 11 January 2002 at age 78 who married Irene Louise BURKET; Anna Louise, born 3 April 1924 and died 28 June 1994 at age 70 who married Robert George DELL; Darrell Clark, born 30 June 1926 and died 19 July 1986 at age 60 who married Louise Eleanor CONRAD; Katherine Orlea, born 11 February 1928 and died 24 December 1997 at age 69 who married John Lee GENTRY; Audrey Rose, born 3 September 1929 and died 20 September 1996 at age 67 who married Frank Lee GROVE; and Ray Elwood.  Martha married second Bernard F. BURKET who was born 27 November 1910 and died 18 February 1985 at age 74.  He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.  Martha and Bernard adopted two children.

                749      ii.    Joseph Walter BAREFOOT was born 10 April 1905 and died 29 October 1971 at age 66.  Although his first name formally was Joseph, he was listed as Walter or Walter J. in the 1910 thru 1930 censuses. He married first Katherine [--?--] and had a daughter Jeanne.  He then married Anna Elizabeth EAVES and had a daughter Patricia and son Joseph Walter, Jr.

                750     iii.    George Clark BAREFOOT was born 12 July 1909 and died 9 February 1992 at age 82.  He married Edythe Naomi DUGANNE, the daughter of Joseph E. and Josephine Duganne, who was born 18 June 1914 in Blair County, Pennsylvania and died 16 May 1991 at age 79. Their children were Richard Walter, Norman Fred and Nila Elaine.

                751      iv.    Dorothy Ann BAREFOOT was born 13 April 1914.  She died in March 1969 in Pennsylvania at age 54.  Dorothy  married H. Fred BUTLER and had daughters Dorothy Louise and Susan Charmain.

                752       v.    Kenneth Scott BAREFOOT was born 17 July 1917 and died in November 1973 at age 56.  He married first Irene HADHAZZY and had a daughter Diane Marie.  He married second Jenny [--?--] and their children were Georgia Anna, who died as an infant; Sandra; Kenneth Scott, Jr.; and Peter Paul who was born 14 September 1963 and died 8 November 1984 at age 21.

 

     332.  Tillie Beatrice6 BAREFOOT (James Alexander5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 22 October 1881 in West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 7 November 1936 in Pennsylvania at age 55 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Tillie married Daniel Oscar CLARK circa 1905 in Pennsylvania. Daniel, the son of Alexander L. and Susanna (Saylor) Clark, was born 16 November 1881 in Pennsylvania and died 5 April 1952 in Pennsylvania at age 70.  He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. Daniel was a general store merchant.  After Tillie’s death he married second Alice P. Mock 10 August 1944.

     Known children of Tillie Beatrice6 BAREFOOT and Daniel Oscar CLARKE, all born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                753       i.    Thelma Marie7 CLARK was born 26 March 1907 and died 25 May 1998 in South Carolina at age 91. She married circa 1925 Foster E. MILLER, the son of George E. and Bertha Miller, who was born 30 March 1899 in Blair County, Pennsylvania, and died 21 February 1985 at age 85. His last known residence was St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida. Their children were Clark E.; Gene E., born 14 September 1927 and died 17 September 2002 at age 75 who married Ivis M. STIBICH; Ray E. and Carol L.

                754      ii.    Russel Palmer CLARK was born 19 January 1909 and died 4 March 1909 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

                755     iii.    Edith V. CLARK was born 19 October 1911.  She died 13 July 1998 in Pennsylvania at age 86.  Edith married George D. LAMB, who was born 21 April 1908 and died 24 June 1975 at age 67 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Their children were Charles D., and Donna Jean who was born 28 December 1938 and died at age 62 on 18 August 2001 in Silver Spring, Montgomery County, Maryland. She married Emory Eugene GEISER who died the same day as she at age 68. He was born 20 April 1933.

                756      iv.    Cyril Carl CLARK was born 25 April 1913 and died 10 November 1969 in Pennsylvania at age 56.  He married Ruth Alice WIRICK, the daughter of Reuben and Nettie M. Wirick, who was born 4 May 1910 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and died 17 November 1898 at age 88. Their children were Robert Carl, born 29 June 1937 and died 25 June 1967 at age 29 in a truck accident who married Marily Jean FISHER; Ronald L., born 15 April 1939 and died 16 December 2006 at  age 67 who married Minnie I. WHYSONG; and Barry Lynn.

                757       v.    Touraine Vivian CLARK was born 30 January 1921 and died in March 1993 in Pennsylvania at age 72.  She married George William KRUMBINE who was born 19 November 1915 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 16 October 1993 at age 77. He was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Krumbine. Touraine and George had children William Edward; Robert Jay; Edith Lou; George William, Jr.; James Morgan; and Paul Allen.

 

     333.  Jessie Pearl6 BAREFOOT (James Alexander5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 2 March 1884 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 29 June 1920 at age 36 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Jessie married Joseph Edward WISE circa 1904 in Pennsylvania.  Joseph, known as Joe, was born 31 December 1880 in Germany and immigrated to the Unites States some time between 1896 and 1900.  He became a naturalized citizen in 1914. Joe died in January 1961 in Pennsylvania at age 80 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.  After Jessie's death Joe remarried circa 1924 a woman named Pearl, who was born circa 1894 and died in 1972. She was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery as A. Pearl Wise. They had children Betty; Ester; a daughter born circa 1928 and Ruth A.. These daughters, their parents and half-sisters Mildred and Eva, and half-brother Joseph, were in the 1930 federal census in Windber, Somerset County. Joe was proprietor of a livery, per the 1920 census, and a tailor in a tailoring shop, per the 1930.

     Known children of Jessie Pearl6 BAREFOOT and Joseph Edward WISE were as follows:

                758       i.    Edward I.7 WISE was born 14 November 1905 in Pennsylvania and died 5 February 1976 at age 70. He married Caroline M. FESS and their children were Edward R. and Marlene C.

                759      ii.    Dorsey William WISE was born 14 March 1907 in Pennsylvania.  He died 14 March 1921 in Pennsylvania at age 14 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                760     iii.    James WISE was born 12 September 1908 in Pennsylvania and died 21 June 1991 at age 82.  He married Helen KNOX, born 19 May 1913 and died 22 March 1992 at age 78, and their children were James Robert and Judith Ann.

                761      iv.    Mildred Mae WISE was born 7 October 1910 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  She died in March 1993 in Florida at age 82. Mildred married first Edgar ALBRIGHT, born 24 September 1905 and died 9 February 1962 at age 56, and their children were Edgar and Alan. She married second Alexander SQUAIR, born 9 August 1892 and died July 1978 at age 85. His last known residence was York, York County, Pennsylvania.

                762       v.    Sara Elizabeth WISE was born 1 February 1912 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  She died 21 November 1912 in Pennsylvania and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                763      vi.    Joseph Verle WISE was born in 1914 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and died in 1944 at age 30. He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  Joseph married Anita DETER.

                764     vii.    Eva Pearl WISE was born 11 January 1917 and died 14 December 1996 at age 79.  Eva married Marshall Palmer FOX who was born 31 July 1914 and died 2 February 1984 at age 69. Their last known residence was Redwood City, San Mateo County, California.

 

     335.  Etta Mae6 BAREFOOT (James Alexander5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 2 November 1886 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 2 April 1971 in Washington, District of Columbia at age 84, and was buried in Richland Cemetery, Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

     Etta married John Edward GATES circa 1913 in Pennsylvania. John, a coal miner, who also went by the name Edward, was born in 1886 in Pennsylvania and died in 1945 at age 59.

     Known children of Etta Mae6 BAREFOOT and John Edward GATES, all born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

     337.  Henry Ward6 BAREFOOT (James Alexander5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1), called Ward, was born 23 December 1894 in Pleasantville, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 7 September 1971 in Pennsylvania at age 76 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Ward, a taxidermist, was Pleasantville borough councilman and mayor for the final 39 years of his life. He married Eula Georgia NUNAMAKER 14 October 1915 in Bedford County. Eula, the daughter of John H. and Mary E. (SLONAKER) Nunamaker, was born 23 December 1894 in Pennsylvania and died 25 March 1966 in Pennsylvania at age 71.  She was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.

     Known children of Henry Ward6 BAREFOOT and Eula Georgia NUNAMAKER, all born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                768       i.    Veryl J.7 BAREFOOT was born 24 December 1916.  He died 13 August 1994 in Pennsylvania at age 77, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.  Veryl married June L. OTTO, the daughter of Franklin C. and Janue Viola (Bence) Otto, 24 April 1941.  Their children were Janet Louise; Sara Elizabeth; Harold DeRoy, who was born 18 July 1944 and died 30 September 2003 at age 59; Dean, born and died 10 September 1946; Helen Gailmelle; and Ray, born and died 30 August 1949.

                769      ii.    Mary Elizabeth BAREFOOT was born 21 September 1918 and died 19 March 1993 at age 74.  She was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  Mary married Henry Laverne DULL, born 10 October 1913 and died 6 January 1997 at age 83.  The son of Harry K. and Daisey E. (Hinson) Dull, he was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.  Their children were Harry V.; Donna Lee; Ethel Laverne; Joseph Palmer; and Robert Eugene. Henry was the founder and a member of God's Missionary Church, Alum Bank, Bedford County. He was one of the organizers and the first fire chief of the Alum Bank Fire Company, and a founder of the Allegheny Steam and Threshers Reunion. He was founder and owner of Dull's Auto Wrecking in Alum Bank.

                770     iii.    Harold Ward BAREFOOT was born 3 September 1920.  He died 18 January 1987 in Pennsylvania at age 66 and was buried in Mount Union Evangelical Church Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Harold married Emma Lucille STUFFT and their children were Ima Jean; Linda Dianne; Cynthia Leigh; and Brian Keith.

                771      iv.    Clair R. BAREFOOT was born 5 February 1924 and died 22 May 1978 in Pennsylvania at age 54.  He married Reta J. SMITH and their children were Kerry James; Sheryl L.; and Charles R.

                772       v.    Helen Lucille BAREFOOT was born 11 August 1925 and died 21 September 2000 at age 75. She married Ray Clifford Smith and they had a daughter Raelene Gay.

                773      vi.    Mildred Wilma BAREFOOT married Frederick V. HEMING, son of Dennis Heming, who was born 29 September 1930.                 775    viii.    Nevin Virgil BAREFOOT married Sandra Lee REAY and their children were Nevin, Jr.; Sherry Lee; Carla Rae; Chris Allen; Melissa Ann; and Tracy Lynn.

                776      ix.    Leonard F. BAREFOOT was born 22 April 1936 and died 29 November 1999 at age 63.  He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  Leonard married Shirley A. DAVIS and their children were Rhonda L.; Kelly S.; Leonard A.; and Jamey A.

                777       x.    Nathan Russell BAREFOOT was born 9 April 1938.  He died 4 July 2005 in Pennsylvania at age 67, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Nathan married Bertha Louise MIHALKO and their children were Kimberly Joyce; Eric Ward; Kristal Kay; Linette Lea; and Jonathan Nate, born and died in 1975 who was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.

 

     340.  Ora Anna6 BAREFOOT (Daniel Heck5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 23 April 1887 in Pennsylvania and died 2 June 1966 in Pennsylvania at age 79. She was buried in Richland Cemetery, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

     Ora married Charles Henry LEHMAN circa 1908 in Pennsylvania.  Charles, the son of Isaac and Susan Lehman, was born 7 November 1883 in Cambria County.  He died 7 October 1928 at age 44.  Charles and Ora resided in Scalp Level, Cambria County and he was an engineer for a coal company according to the 1920 federal census.

                778       i.    Mahala Ruth7 LEHMAN was born 10 February 1909 and died 6 May 1975 at age 66. She married first David Lewis MASTERS, who was born 27 November 1906 and died 6 June 1991 at the age of 84. Their children were Charles David and Mildred Louise. Mahala divorced David and married second James Nankiville STRANGE, born 5 March 1902 and died 28 June 1959 at age 57. They had a son James Francis.

                779      ii.    Daniel Wilbur LEHMAN was born 4 March 1916 and died 20 August 2000 in Pennsylvania at age 84. He married Edith Louise ORRIS, the daughter of Francis and Clara Orris, who was born 2 July 1915 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and died 8 October 2000 at age 85. The couple resided in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

 

     347.  Stanton Earl6 BAREFOOT (William S.5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 23 September 1888 in Pennsylvania.  He died 16 December 1933 in Pennsylvania at age 45 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

     Stanton married Rhoda Fae MANGES circa 1910 in Pennsylvania.  Rhoda, the daughter of Emanuel S. and Harriet Ardella “Della” (Hammer) Manges, was born 6 June 1889 in Pennsylvania.  She died 27 June 1950 in Pennsylvania at age 61 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.

SUTER who was born 11 April 1917 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Sewell J. and Ettie M. Suter. They had two daughters: Barbara Mae and Sandra Rose.

                782     iii.    Max Leroy BAREFOOT was born 13 December 1914 in Pennsylvania and died 13 February 1993 at age 78. Max married Alverda Louella ROWSER 8 February 1936 in Allegany County, Maryland. Alverda, the daughter of Samuel and Clarissa Rowser, was born 24 March 1917 in Napier, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and died 27 March 1972 at age 55.  Their children were Iris H., born 25 September 1936 and died 11 December 2006 at age 70 who married [--?--] COACHMAN and resided in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; Lynn Harry, born 8 April 1943 and died 13 November 2005 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 62 who had a son and three daughters; Wayne S., who died before November 2005 and resided in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee; Joel; Danny; and Susie.

                783      iv.    Joseph Frederick BAREFOOT was born 14 January 1916 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 17 January 1916 in Bedford and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery in that county.

                784       v.    Hazel F. BAREFOOT was born 6 May 1917 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 20 December 1918 in that county at age 1, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

     350.  Russel J.6 BAREFOOT, Sr. (William S.5, William S.4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 26 February 1903 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  He died 2 March 1985 in Lake Worth, Palm Beach County, Florida at age 82.

     Russel, who also went by the name of Doc, was a farmer in Bedford County, Pennsylvania then moved to Detroit, Michigan to attend barber's school. Upon finishing school he moved back to Windber and opened a barber shop. He did not belong to the union so the barber's union tried to blow up his shop with a bucket containing 12 sticks of dynamite. Luckily the fuse went out. He was later paint foreman of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation at Ebensburg in Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

    Russel married first Mildred Marie MILLER, the daughter of Emanuel A. and Derbie M. Miller, circa 1923 in Pennsylvania.  Mildred was born 5 April 1905 in Pennsylvania and died 14 June 1930 of tuberculosis in Bedford County, Pennsylvania at age 25.  He then married Laura L. ROMESBERG circa 1931.  Pat, as she was called, was born 29 October 1907 in Garrett, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Madison J. and Leila (Wechtenhiser) Romesberg. She died 28 February 1989 in Ebensburg at age 81, and was buried in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, King Township, Bedford County.

                789      ii.    Bernard BAREFOOT was born 18 August 1933 in Pennsylvania.  He died 9 October 1998 at age 65; his last known residence was Lake Worth, Palm Beach County, Florida.  Bernard married June Elizabeth Anna HOPPER who was born 21 May 1934 in Portage, Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 28 April 2001 in Florida at age 66. Their children were Michael Earl, David Russel, Christopher Lee, Diana Lynn, Mary Ellen, Thomas George and George Bernard.

                790     iii.    Richard BAREFOOT married Katherine Rose MANS and had children Scott, Barry and a daughter. HIs mother's obituary gives his wife's name as Kathy Roseman.

                791      iv.    Diane Judith BAREFOOT was also known as Judith per her father's 1985 obituary, which gave Florida as her place of residence.  She resided in Lantana, Palm Beach County, Florida per her mother's 1989 obituary.  Diane married first Thomas Ernest VALERI and their children were son Robin L.; Anthony Russell who died 10 February 2003 at age 39 in Florida, and daughter Jerry Dawn. She married second Richard Charles MURPHY.

                792       v.    Russel J. BAREFOOT, Jr., who also went by the name Rusty, married first Marilyn HETRICK and had daughters Cheryl Lee and Dawn Marie, and married second Stephanie Angela RYNIAK and had children April Renee and Russel J., III.

 

     357.  Wilmer Irvin6 TAYLOR (William Vickroy5, Isabella4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 3 September 1871 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 26 December 1953 at age 82.

     Wilmer married Ruie Rae STATLER circa 1907 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Ruie was born 12 February 1887 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of James B. and Margaret D. Statler.  She died 25 March 1975 at age 88.  Wilmer and Ruie resided in Napier Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                794      ii.    Margaret Bernice TAYLOR was born 9 May 1909 and died 20 January 1964 at age 54. She married Paul Edmond KERR who was born 10 June 1907 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the son of Joshua W. and Sarah A. Kerr, and died 3 February 1975. His last known address was Alum Bank, Bedford County. Their children were Paul Statler, Sandra Elizabeth and Gary Taylor.

                795     iii.    Wilmer Irvin TAYLOR, Jr. was born 14 December 1916.  He died 18 November 1984 at age 67.

                796      iv.    Vivian Ruth TAYLOR was born 6 July 1924 and died 25 February 1993 at age 68. She married Robert W. HYDE, the son of Orange B. and Mary C. Hyde, who was born 8 July 1915 in Blair County, Pennsylvania, and died 21 January 1980 at age 64.

 

     358.  Thomas Sheldon6 TAYLOR (William Vickroy5, Isabella4 Barefoot, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 11 December 1886 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  A medical doctor, he died in 1934 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania at age 48.

     Known as Sheldon, he married Mary Elizabeth COLVIN circa 1922 in Pennsylvania.  Mary, the daughter of Charles L. and Clara J. Colvin, was born in 1899 in Pennsylvania and died in 1970 at age 71.

     376.  James Collins6 MOCK (Charlotte5 Barefoot, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born in January 1873 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 31 March 1971 at age 98.

     James married Rebecca Ellen FICKES circa 1899 and they resided in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.  Rebecca was born 18 January 1872 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Scott and Sarah Fickes.  In all censuses after her marriage she appears as Ella R. She died 17 April 1960 at age 88. James and Rebecca also had a son Ray who died at age one.

     377.  Steward Miles6 MOCK (Charlotte5 Barefoot, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 6 March 1875 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 10 March 1941 in Pleasantville, Bedford County at age 66, and was buried in Mount Zion Reformed Cemetery, Pavia, Bedford County.

     Steward married Sarah Viola ALLISON 11 February 1903 in Pennsylvania. Sarah, whose nickname was Sadie, was born 10 May 1884 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of G. Hugh and Harriet F. (Croyle) Allison.  She died 20 August 1950 at age 66 and was buried in Mount Zion Reformed Cemetery.

                800      ii.    Leola Ruth MOCK was born 31 October 1904 and died 16 May 1975 at age 70. She was also known as Ruth, per the 1910 and 1920 censuses. Ruth married Edgar Thomas CHATHAM, a physician, who died in 1953. They had a daughter Sara Ann.

                801     iii.    Lena Pearl MOCK was born 10 January 1906.  She died 30 November 1975 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 69 and was buried in Bedford County Memorial Park, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Lena married Thomas Dent CARTWRIGHT, Jr., on 22 July 1929 in Johnstown, Cambria County. He was born 14 February 1905 in Spangler, Cambria County, and died 29 September 1966 in Johnstown at age 61. His parents were Thomas Sr. and Anna Elizabeth (Keenan Dent) Cartwright. Lena and Thomas had children Joann, Robert Mock and Nancy.

                802      iv.    Nellie Alverna MOCK was born 25 June 1907.  She died 27 January 1978 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania at age 70 and was buried in Bedford Memorial Park, Bedford County.  She married Vincent Clark HARBAUGH who was born 20 July 1906 in Bedford County, the son of Edward and Effie Mae (Corle) Harbaugh. He died 13 November 1974 at age 68 and was buried in Mount Union Evangelical Cemetery in Bedford County. His last known residence was Williamsburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania. They had children Dorcas and Dennis Leroy.

                803       v.    Carolyn Hazel MOCK was born 3 September 1908 and died 1 February 1991 at age 82. She also went by the name of Carrie per the 1910 and 1920 federal censuses.  Carolyn married Orville STUFFT who was born 20 March 1908, the son of Herman and Bertha P. (Carrel) Stufft. He died at age 91 on 10 June 1999 at his home in New Paris Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and was buried in Bedford County Memorial Park.

                806    viii.    Paul Hugh MOCK was born 10 April 1914 and died 25 March 1958 in Roaring Spring, Blair County, Pennsylvania, at age 43.  He was buried in Bedford County Memorial Park, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Paul married Cleo Pearl HARR, the daughter of Lloyd and Minnie Harr, who was born 20 January 1922 in Bedford County and died 11 October 2005 in Blair County at age 83. Their children were Dottie Lou, Betty Jane, Jerold Paul, Thomas Lynn and Kathy Elaine.

                807      ix.    Harriet Beulah MOCK, also known as Beulah, was born 17 December 1915. She married Robert BERKEY who was born 8 August 1910 and died 19 February 1959 at age 48. He was the son of Jonas L. and Catherine (Stufft) Berkey. Beulah, as she was called, and Robert had children Delores, Patricia Ann and Judy J.

                808       x.    Lavada Pauline MOCK was born 18 February 1918.  She died 25 June 1983 at age 65. Lavada married Bruce Willard MOCK who was born 22 April 1915 and died 12 June 1979 at age 64. He was the son of Cletus F. and Florence N. (Berkey) Mock. They had children Shirley; Phyllis J.; Donna; Ronald; W. Duane who was born 21 October 1943 and died 10 September 1999 at age 55; Dwight and James R.

                809      xi.    Solomon Blair MOCK was born 17 October 1919.  He died 25 February 1920 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                810     xii.    Hartzell Ford MOCK was born 25 March 1921 and died in February 1975 at age 53. His last known residence was Ecorse, Wayne County, Michigan.  Ford, as he was called, married Faye DAVIS, the daughter of John Milton and Catherine E. (Rose) Davis. Their children were Milton and Pamela Faye.

                811    xiii.    Dorcas Oleda MOCK was born 25 May 1924.  She died 28 June 1949 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, at age 25 and was buried in Mount Zion Reformed Cemetery, Pavia, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. She was known as Oleda.

                812    xiv.    Avanelle Louise MOCK married Harold Walter MICKLE 6 November 1943 in Phoenix City, Russell County, Alabama. Harold was born 22 July 1920 in Alum Bank, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the son of Charles and Celia (Taylor Stufft ) Mickle, and died 7 September 2005 in Bedford County of cancer at age 85. He was buried in Bedford County Memorial Park. Their children were: Gary Lee, Terry Lynn, Wendy Kay, and Robert Gene. Harold owned and operated the Lovely General Store and Chestnut Ridge Market.

                813     xv.    Betty Helene MOCK was born 16 March 1929.  She died 3 July 1994 at age 65. She married Allen B. PERGRIM who was born 28 March 1926 and died 26 September 1999 at age 73. Their last known residence was Mineral Point, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. Betty and Allen had children Karen Denise, Rodger Alan, Lois Ann, Jeffrey Miles and David Wayne.

 

     380.  Nancy6 MILLER (Mary R.5 Barefoot, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 8 January 1874 in Pennsylvania.  She died 19 March 1927 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania at age 53.

     Nancy married Francis Grant GROWDEN circa 1895 in Bedford County.  Francis, the son of John W. and Sara L. Growden, was born 28 February 1871 in Pennsylvania.  He died 3 January 1944 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania at age 72.  Nannie and Frank, as they were also known, resided in Cumberland Valley Township, Bedford County.

Their children were Margaret Annabelle, born 16 July 1917 and died 28 March 1955 at age 37, who married Dewayne Wesley STREETT; Vernon Grant, born 18 July 1919 and died 5 May 1945 at age 25 who married Margaret Virginia ZEMBOWER; Merry Elizabeth, born 19 October 1923 and died 22 July 2004 at age 80 who married Paul Franklin CRAWFORD; and Walter Cecil. Vernon married second Margaret BOWER.

                816     iii.    Sarah Edna GROWDEN was born 14 January 1899 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 18 April 1944 at age 45. Sarah married Carl Marshall SHOEMAKER, the son of John C. and Louisa J. Shoemaker, who was born 11 August 1895 in Bedford County, and died in June 1986 at age 91. They had children Betty Jane, who was born 25 January 1925 and died 27 January 1927; Clyde Calvin and Phyllis Leone.

John married Ruth Leanora LEASURE who was born 1 May 1909 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Ira B. and Susie L. Leasure. Their children were Roy Francis, born 31 July 1926 and died 1 January 1994 at age 67; Hazel Virginia and Phyllis Suzzan.

                820     vii.    Francis Zollie GROWDEN was born 28 May 1907 and died in May 1963 at age 55. He married Vera Mae BOOR, the daughter of Norval E. and Gladys Boor, who was born 16 January 1910 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died in February 1985 at age 75 in Maryland.      381.  George Curtis6 MILLER (Mary R.5 Barefoot, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born in 1875 in Pennsylvania.  He died in 1970 at age 95.

     George married first circa 1901 in Bedford County Cassandra Catherine "Kate" IAMES/IMES who was born in 1879 in Pennsylvania and died in 1914 at age 35.  He then married circa 1915 Kate’s sister Anna Belle IAMES/IMES. Anna was born circa 1878 in Bedford County and died in 1946 at age 68.

     Known children of George Curtis6 MILLER and Cassandra Catherine “Kate” IAMES/IMES, all born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                823      ii.    Anna Belle MILLER was born 5 October 1902.  She died 28 November 1927 at age 25. Ann married Kelly Leroy BRANT who was born 18 April 1900 in Maryland, the son of Charles H. and Bertha A. Brant.  He died 28 June 1978 at age 78. Their children were James Horton, George Kelly, Doris Jean and Marianna.

                824     iii.    Howard Eugene MILLER was born 8 October 1904 and died 6 January 1991 at age 86. Howard married Crystal S. VANCONANT, the daughter of David and Minnie Vanconant, who was born 11 December 1906 in Elk, Sanilac County, Michigan, and died 16 April 1989 at age 82. Their last known residence was Mantua, Portage County, Ohio.  Howard and Crystal had children Emmet Eugene, born 17 October 1926 and died 6 October 1984 at age 57; Feryl Ardine, born 18 December 1927 and died 13 August 1954 at age 46, and Nancy Katheryne.

                825      iv.    John Stanton MILLER was born circa 1906.  He died in 1939. John married Nellie Elizabeth GROVES and their children were Anna Mae, Mary Catheryn and Frances Marie.

                826       v.    George Emmett MILLER was born 6 June 1908 and died 27 August 1995 in Ohio at age 87. His last known residence was Akron, Summit County, Ohio. George married Barbara Frances HOLCOMB who was born 27 July 1911 and died 2 November 1998 in Ohio at age 87. Her last known residence was Rittman, Wayne County, Ohio. They had children James Henry Curtis and Donald Wayne.

     George Curtis6 MILLER and Anna Belle IAMES/IMES had a son George Curtis, Jr. who died as an infant.

 

     383.  Lloyd Franklin6 BAREFOOT (Job S.5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 5 July 1880 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 21 February 1936 in that county at age 55 and was buried in St. Luke's C of C Cemetery, Bedford County. Frank, as he was sometimes called, was manager of a refining company in Bedford County in the 1920 federal census, and an oil salesman in that county in 1930.

     He married Elizabeth SMITH circa 1904. She was born 10 July 1886 in Pennsylvania and died in 1965 at age 79.

     384.  Harry Blair6 BAREFOOT Sr. (Job S.5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 5 February 1882 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 4 April 1954 at age 72. Harry worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company as a blacksmith.

     Harry married Anna B. ALLISON circa 1906 in Pennsylvania. Anna was born 2 December 1880 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Daniel S. and Mary Jane (Reed) Allison.  She died 18 August 1962 in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania at age 81.

                828       i.    Emily7 BAREFOOT married Vernon B. CORLE and resided in Everett, Bedford County, Pennsylvania in 1962 at the time of her mother’s death.  Vernon was born 30 June 1904 and died in June 1983 at age 79. They had a daughter Anne C. who was born 7 August 1922 and died 28 October 1996 at age 74. She married Robert E. Williams who was born 21 August 1921 and died 23 November 1992 at age 71.  Their last known residence was Everett, Bedford County.

                829      ii.    Blaine Allison BAREFOOT was born 1 August 1906 in Pennsylvania and died 4 August 1959 at age 53. He married Nellie F. SMITH who was born 21 August 1916 and died 16 August 1992 at age 75. Her last known residence was Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Blaine and Nellie had children Norma Jane, Rodger Blaine, Jordan Francis, John Paul, Susan Eileen and Cubby.

                830     iii.    Paul Daniel BAREFOOT was born 20 July 1909 in Pennsylvania and died 30 May 1962 in Monroe, Ouachita County, Louisiana at age 52.  He was buried in Bedford Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Surviving him were wife Helen and one son Herbert, both of Monroe, according to his obituary.

                831      iv.    Jane H. BAREFOOT was born 4 April 1912 in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania.  She died 30 May 1976 at age 64. Jane married James HERSHEY and was living in Altoona in 1962 at the time of her brother Paul's death. Jane and James had children Rebecca Jane and Lane Clark.

                832       v.    Harry Blair BAREFOOT, Jr., was born 10 September 1918 in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania. He married Josephine TUREK and had children Janice, Bonnie and Harry.

 

     385.  James Ray6 BAREFOOT (Job S.5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 26 September 1883 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, a twin to John Roy, and died 19 March 1960 at age 76.

     He was an electrician for a steel works company in Swissvale, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania according to the federal censuses for 1920 and 1930.

     James, who also went by his middle name Ray, married Adele JADOT circa 1907 in Pennsylvania.  Adele, also called Della, was born 7 September 1889 in West Virginia, the daughter of Eugene and Adele Jadot of Belgium.  She died 16 June 1988 at age 98.

                833       i.    Clarence Ray7 BAREFOOT was born 10 June 1909.  He died 6 April 2000 at age 90. Clarence married Mary Elizabeth KRAUSE who was born 19 March 1912 and died 26 March 1978 at age 66. Their children were Eileen Mary, Barbara Adele and William Lloyd.

                834      ii.    Norma Adele BAREFOOT was born 17 October 1910 and died 8 February 2003 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania at age 92. She married Willis Morrow SARVER, the son of Samuel L. and Bertha Sarver, who was born 5 September 1911 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and died 25 October 1977 at age 66. They had a son Richard Willis, born 5 January 1920 and died 10 June 2003 at age 83; a son Eugene and a daughter Kathy.

                835     iii.    Eugene BAREFOOT was born 3 March 1913.  He died 7 March 1980 at age 67. Eugene married Mary BARNES who was born 11 September 1916 and died 13 August 1893 at age 76. Their children were Jeanne, Norma, Ruth Eileen, Clarence, Adele, Mary, Eugene Russell and Roy.

                836      iv.    Lawrence R. BAREFOOT was born 5 April 1917 and died 13 August 1996 at age 79. His last known residence was Sarasota, Sarasota County, Florida. Lawrence married first Dorothy VRANRSEVICH who was born circa 1914, the daughter of Peter and Sofia Vranrsevich who resided in Lower Burrell Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in 1930. They had children Lawrence, June, James and Robert. Lawrence married second Ila BUCHEL, the daughter of Alfred Buchel, who was born circa 1925 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He married third Louise Ross BRICK. Louise was born 29 March 1919 and died 24 March 2003 at age 83. She resided in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia at the time of her death.

 

     386.  John Roy6 BAREFOOT (Job S.5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 26 September 1883 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, a twin to James Ray.  He died 13 August 1972 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania at age 88.

     John was an electrician in the furnace industry in the 1920 federal census for North Braddock, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and an electrical engineer for a steel works in the 1930 census for Swissvale in that county.

     John married Nellie Blanche THOMPSON circa 1910 in Pennsylvania. Nellie was born in August 1890 in Pennsylvania and died 9 February 1958 at age 67.  She was the daughter of Edgar and May Thompson of Braddock Township, Allegheny County.

                839     iii.    John Roy BAREFOOT, Jr., was born 20 October 1917 and died 4 March 2002 in Ohio at age 84. He married Marjorie Isabel MILLER who was born 2 July 1916 and died 4 April 1983 at age 66. They had a son Brian M.

                840      iv.    Robert K. BAREFOOT was born 15 March 1922 and died 15 May 2001 at age 79. Robert married Macy LIVINGOOD. They had children Elizabeth, Robert K. Jr., Clarice and William.

 

     387.  Willard Wimer6 BAREFOOT (Job S.5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 5 September 1887 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 18 January 1952 at age 64.

     Willard married Florence NOWRY circa 1911 in Pennsylvania. Florence was born in August 1891 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Robert P. and Margaret Nowry. She died 18 January 1952 at age 60.

He married Dorothy CHARLTON who was born 16 November 1920 and died 12 September 2000 at age 79. Their children were Thomas James, born 20 November 1941 and died 23 November 1998 at age 57; Susan Joyce; Daniel James; Willard Wimer III; Dorothy Jean; Jimmy Jay; Walter James; Amy Jo and Becky Jo.

                842      ii.    Eleanor Gayle BAREFOOT was born 16 February 1923 and died 23 June 1985 at age 62. She married William PILLAR who was born 5 August 1921 and died 1 February 1988 at age 66. Their children were Jane, William Jr. and Jeffrey.

 

     390.  Neal Deloss6 BAREFOOT (Job S.5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 4 March 1889 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 18 July 1984 at age 95.

     A resident of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Neal was a crane man in the 1910 federal census, a building contractor in the 1920, and a salesman for an elevator company in the 1930.

    Neal married Beulah C. UREY circa 1926 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The daughter of John B. and Nettie Urey, Beulah was born 10 May 1896 in Pennsylvania.  She died 7 August 1978 at age 82.

                845     iii.    Ester Louise BAREFOOT, a twin, married first Vincent Theodore LEE and had children Victoria Lynette, Kathleen  Dory and Cynthia Irene. She married second Douglas McDonald BENISON.

 

     395.  Russell Dewey6 BAREFOOT (Job S.5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 21 November 1897 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 6 July 1980 in Bedford County at age 82.

     Russell married Rhoda T. LYBARGER circa 1916 in Pennsylvania.  Rhoda was born 20 March 1901 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John A. and Essie Lybarger.  She died 1 December 1972 in that state at age 71. Russell was a crane man in a steel works in the 1920 federal census for Braddock. Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. In 1930 he was am electrician in a steel mill in that community.

                846       i.    Ned William7 BAREFOOT was born 15 March 1918 in Manns Choice, Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died 20 November 2002 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania at age 84. He married first Rosemay DOYLE and had children Carol, Ned William Jr. Denise, Timothy and Brian, and married second Mabel CAINE.

                847      ii.    Russell Neal BAREFOOT married Mildred G. LORENCIK, the daughter of Michael and Eleanor Lorencik, and had children Russell Byres, Randall Job and Robin Gail. Mildred was born in 1927 and died 3 January 2006 at age 79.

                848     iii.    Pauline Helen BAREFOOT married first Herbert WORTH and second Paul Earl HECKMAN who was born 3 June 1916 and died 2 January 1998. His last known address was Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida.

 

     397.  Georgia Alda6 BAREFOOT (Job S.5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 3 April 1899 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 12 April 1978 at age 79.

     Georgia, who was also called Alda, married Archie Beach SELLERS circa 1917 in Pennsylvania.  Archie was born 5 July 1890 in Georgia.  He died 21 November 1947 at age 57.  The couple appeared on the federal census of 1920 in Braddock, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and Archie was a roller’s helper in a steel mill.  In the 1930 census they were in Nemacolin, Greene County, Pennsylvania where Archie was a police officer for a coal mining company.

     Known children of Georgia Alda6 BAREFOOT and Archie Beach SELLERS, all born in Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                849       i.    John Job7 SELLERS was born 30 June 1921.  He died 2 January 1975 at age 53. John married Kathryn KERR and had a daughter Jackie.

                850      ii.    Helen Rebecca SELLERS was born 9 June 1923.  She died 29 December 2003 in Pennsylvania at age 80. She married Frank Bertram TAYLOR who was born 4 January 1918 and died 30 May 1944 at age 76. The couple resided in New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania and their children were James Ross, John William, Frankie Ann and Helen Rebecca.

                851     iii.    Ruth Marie SELLERS married Harry James WHITE and their children were Wesley Hall, Scott Sellers, James Archie and Ruth Ellen.

 

     398.  Ada Lavanda6 BAREFOOT (George5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 7 November 1881 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 21 November 1960 in Pleasantville, Bedford County at age 79 and was buried 25 November 1960 in Fishertown Cemetery in that county.

     Ada married Sewell BOWSER 7 January 1904 in Cumberland, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Sewell, the son of George P. and Mary J. Bowser, was born 26 August 1882 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 28 November 1959 at age 77.

                852       i.    George Kenneth7 BOWSER was born 24 July 1904 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  Also known as Kenneth, he died 19 February 1964 in Beaver Falls, Beaver County, Pennsylvania at age 59. George married first Cleo WOLFE and second Loraine Deniker PEPPLE who was born 25 August 1904 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and died 16 January 1984 at age 79. She was the daughter of George and Margaret S. Deniker.

                853      ii.    Warren Barefoot BOWSER was born 9 October 1905 in Pennsylvania.  He died 14 January 1940 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 34 and was buried in Fishertown Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Warren married Thelma Irene PENSYL, born 9 October 1908 and died 2 November 1980 at the age of 72.  She was the daughter of Charles Calvin and Hattie Elizabeth (Carn) Pensyl. Thelma married second Harold Ross Hinton 28 October 1944.

                854     iii.    Russell Edward BOWSER was born 23 February 1907 in Pennsylvania and died 2 February 1968 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania at age 60.  He married Vera C. HEATHERLY who was born 15 December 1908 in Harrisburg, Saline County, Illinois, the daughter of John and Vada Heatherly.  She died 4 September 1991 in Bedford County at age 90 and was buried in Fishertown Cemetery. Russell and Vera had a daughter Bonnie L.

        855      iv.    Eugene Field BOWSER was born 28 March 1909 in Pennsylvania.  He died 16 February 1982 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico at age 72. Eugene married Erma FEATHERS and had daughters Lois and Helen Gail. Erma was born 10 May 1914 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Warren and Maud Feathers.

                856       v.    Carl Louis BOWSER was born 6 May 1911 in Pennsylvania and died 8 September 1979 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 68.  He married Elizabeth Irene BECKLEY 13 April 1938. She was born 20 February 1911 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and died 6 December 1984 at age 73 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Their children were Joyce Ann, Sally and Thomas Carl.

                857      vi.    Mary Allene BOWSER was born 8 June 1913 in Pennsylvania.  She died 14 January 1993 in Pennsylvania at age 79 and was buried 17 January 1993 in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. She was also known as Allene per the 1920 and 1930 censuses.  Mary married Ralph Elmer WATKINS, the son of John M. and Sarah Eliza Hann Watkins. He was born 28 April 1908 in Alum Bank, Bedford County, and died 27 April 1998 in that county at age 90. Ralph was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. Their children were James Lowell, Shirley Eileen and David Ralph.

                858     vii.    Emerson Ned BOWSER was born 7 December 1917 in West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 3 November 2003 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 85 and was buried 6 November 2003 in Fishertown Cemetery, Bedford County.  Emerson was the owner of Bowser's Meat Market and was a longtime mayor of Pleasantville in Bedford County. He married Ethel M. CONSTABLE 20 July 1940. They had a son Robert Allen, born 26 February 1943 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 22 August 2003 at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. They also had a daughter Barbara.

                859    viii.    Gerald Homer BOWSER was born 31 May 1919 in Pennsylvania.  He died 7 April 1995 in Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania at age 75 and was buried 10 April 1995 in Bedford County Memorial Park. Gerald married first Mary GRIMES and had sons Jerry and Donald. He married second Helen May REIGHARD, the daughter of Clarence W. and Florence T. Reighard who was born 10 June 1921 in Bedford County and died 30 January 2005 at age 83 in that county.

                860      ix.    Helen Grace BOWSER married Morton Ralph CREW and resided in Urbandale, Polk County, Iowa in 2003. Morton, a doctor, was born 7 March 1918 and died 15 January 1982 at age 63. Their children were Tana Jean, Vee Ann and Sally Marie.

 

     399.  Sallie Pearl6 BAREFOOT (George5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 28 January 1883 in West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died 30 January 1981 in Pennsylvania at age 98.  She was buried 1 February 1981 in Fishertown Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Sallie married Harry Arthur ALLISON 10 March 1904 in Bedford, Bedford County. Harry was born 28 March 1882 in Bedford County, the son of Gabriel and Sarah Allison.  He died 18 April 1945 in Alum Bank, Bedford County at age 63 and was buried in Fishertown Cemetery.  Harry, Sallie and their family resided in King Township, Bedford County.

     Known children of Sallie Pearl6 BAREFOOT and Harry Arthur ALLISON, both born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, were as follows:

                861       i.    Edward Grant7 ALLISON was born 14 October 1907 and died 24 June 1955 in Pleasantville, Bedford County, Pennsylvania at age 47. He was buried in Fishertown Cemetery, Bedford County. Edward married Almeda MOCK and their children were Mary Louise, Robert Dale, Donald Ralph, Sara Grace, Carol Jean and Edward Paul.

                862      ii.    Ralph Anson ALLISON was born 7 March 1912.  He died 22 June 1981 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania at age 69. Ralph married Mary Louise CRILLY, the daughter of John A. and Carrie I. Crilly, and the couple had daughters Barbara Gayle and Beverly Eileen.

 

     400.  Mary Olive6 BAREFOOT (George5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 24 August 1884 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 25 May 1975 in Bedford, Bedford County at age 90 and was buried 28 May 1975 in Fishertown Cemetery in that county. She was known as Olive.

     Olive married William A. STULTZ circa 1907 in Pennsylvania.  William, the son of James B. and Mary A. Stultz, was born 29 September 1882 in Napier Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 30 July 1945 in Pennsylvania at age 62.

                863       i.    William Wadsworth7 STULTZ was born 30 April 1908 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.  He died 3 May 1974 in Pennsylvania at age 66 and was buried in Allegheny County Memorial Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. William married Elsie Elizabeth TAYLOR and had five children. Elsie was born 26 March 1908 in New Paris, Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died 27 December 1976 in Pittsburgh at age 68. She was the daughter of J. Howard and Elsie (Pitcairn) Taylor. Elsie was buried in Allegheny County Memorial Cemetery. Their children were James W., Jean Elizabeth, Robert, Albert Taylor, and Ann.

                864      ii.    Mary Laverne STULTZ was born 4 February 1910 in Pennsylvania and died 11 October 1982 at age 72. Known as Laverne, she married George Kenneth ARNOLD and had children Beverly V., George Thomas, Elaine Elizabeth, Sandra LaVerne, Edward Eugene, Mary Ann and Gail Lynne. George was born 23 July 1910 and died in July 1977 at age 67.

                865     iii.    James Franklin STULTZ was born 16 June 1913 in Pennsylvania.  He died 8 January 1992 at age 78. James married Betty SHAFFER and had a son Donald J.

                866      iv.    Ada Louise STULTZ was born 6 March 1915 in Pennsylvania and died 1 September 1985 at age 70. She married Harry BLATTENBERGER and resided in Oxford, Michigan in 1975. Harry, the son of George and Annie Blattenberger, was born 12 December 1912 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died 2 December 1968 at age 55. They had a son Gary Benson.

                867       v.    Agnes Almeda STULTZ was born 28 March 1917 in Pennsylvania.  She died 5 October 1994 in Pennsylvania at age 77. Agnes married Nelson Earl MCCALLION and resided in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania in 1975. Nelson was born 23 June 1919 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and was the son of Earl N. and Mabel McCallion. He died 24 January 1978 at age 58.

                868      vi.    Robert Barefoot STULTZ was born 11 May 1918 in New Paris, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 22 October 2003 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 85 and was buried 24 October 2003 in Bedford County Memorial Park Cemetery. Robert, an electrician for Bethlehem Steel Corporation, married Gladys BOWSER 15 April 1939. Their children were Robert Bowser, Bonnie Lee, Daniel Arthur, and Joanne.

                869     vii.    Joseph Edward STULTZ was born 16 June 1924 in New Paris, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 19 March 1997 in Pennsylvania at age 72 and was buried in Ritchey Cemetery, Everett, Bedford County. Joseph married Marjorie Fern BOLLMAN 19 January 1949 and had children Cheryl Dawn; Gregory Joseph who was born 16 February 1952 and died 30 December 1974 at age 22; Jeffrey William; Lisa Shawn and Joseph Dustin.

                870    viii.    Ruthanna Mae STULTZ married Sherman Howard FIX and had children Wesley Sherman, Cheryl Mae, Pamela Kay and Jill Annette.

 

     405.  Sue Evalyn6 BAREFOOT (George5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 25 January 1892 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.   She died 12 February 1979 in Bedford County at age 87, and was buried in Fishertown Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Sue married Vernon Grant GEISEL 15 August 1913 in Pennsylvania. Vernon, the son of Norman H. and Emma (Statler) Geisel, was born 16 April 1895 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania and died 21 October 1981 in Bedford County at age 86.  He was buried in Fishertown Cemetery.  According to his obituary, Vernon was a funeral director for more than 40 years and served as Bedford County coroner. He also was a president of the Bedford County Bank and an owner of the West View Motel. Vernon served as Pleasantville borough councilman and was a member of the Pleasantville Joint School Board. He graduated from the Eckels School of Embalming in Philadelphia. Three sons were also funeral directors: Fred, Louis and Jack.

                871       i.    Robert Merrill7 GEISEL was born 4 November 1913 in Pennsylvania.  He died 27 May 1915 in Pennsylvania at age 1.

                872      ii.    Frederick Grant GEISEL was born 18 February 1915 in Pennsylvania.  He died 26 June 1986 in Pennsylvania at age 71.  Fred, as he was called, married Sarah Barbara DAVIS, daughter of George Wellington and Rillie (Harbaugh) Davis. Their children were Agnes Charlene, Nancy Davis, Sarah Sue, Vernon Lee and Barbara June.

                873     iii.    Charles Richard GEISEL was born 29 March 1917 in Pennsylvania. He married first Marguerite Virginia MILLER and they had twins Patricia Anne and Warren Vernon who were born and died 15 March 1936 and were buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. They also had a daughter Sylvia Dawn and son Roy Nelson. Charles married second Martha Mae STUTZMAN, the daughter of Leroy B. and Edith Stutzman, who was born 18 March 1926 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, and died 7 June 1989 at age 63. They had a daughter Kathy Louise.

                874      iv.    Louis Vernon GEISEL was born 28 December 1919 in Pennsylvania.  He died 15 April 1995 in Pennsylvania at age 75. Louis married first Martha Georgine MOWRY, the daughter of Ralph S. and Ada Mowry, who was born 7 May 1921 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, and died 1 October 1988 at age 67. Their children were Sara Georgine and Vivian Gail. Louis married second Betty Feight DIEHL who was born 14 March 1925 and died 23 January 1999 at age 73.

                875       v.    Mary Jane GEISEL was born 4 April 1921 in Pleasantville, Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died 4 August 2004 in Bedford County at age 83. She married Ned O. WHETSTONE 17 August 1945 and had daughter Janice S. and son Daniel G. Ned was born circa 1919 and died 22 November 1993. Mary was owner and operator of the Whetstone General Store in Osterburg, Bedford County, for 20 years.

                876      vi.    Jack Harold GEISEL married Betty Jane CLAYCOMB. Their children were Jack Harold Jr., Thomas Lee and Linda Louise.

 

     407.  Carrie Dena6 BAREFOOT (George5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 15 February 1899 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died 11 August 1976 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 77.  She was buried in Fishertown Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Carrie married William Meade SAYLOR 30 September 1916 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. William, the son of William C. and Leah Ann (Clark) Saylor, was born 5 November 1896 in Pennsylvania.  He died 4 February 1980 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 83, and was buried in Fishertown Cemetery.

                877       i.    Palmer Eugene7 SAYLOR was born 17 March 1917 and died 18 April 1986 in Pennsylvania at age 69. His last known residence was York, York County, Pennsylvania. Palmer married first Geneva MANGES, the daughter of Frank and Della Manges, who was born 16 April 1911 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and died 25 February 1991 at age 79. They had children Ginette Del and Palmer Eugene II. Palmer married second Betty MILLER and had a daughter Lois Imogene. Betty was born 7 February 1924 and died 15 August 1992 at age 68.  Her last known residence was York, York County.

                878      ii.    Owen Meade SAYLOR was born 29 December 1918 and died 27 October 1991 at age 72. He married Bernice Marie SHAFFER and they had a daughter Beverly Jean. Bernice was born 20 September 1916 in Napier Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William J. and Stella P. Shaffer. She died 25 October 2003 at age 87. Her last known address was Everett, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                879     iii.    Ross Duane SAYLOR was born 9 September 1921.  Also known as Duane and R. Duane, he died 4 March 2003 at age 81. His last known residence was Blairsville, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Duane married Carroll Louise CLAYCOMB who was born 22 August 1922 in East St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Roy and Lena S. Claycomb.  She died 1 January 2006 in Pennsylvania at age 83. Ross and Carroll had children Donna Jean who was born 4 October 1942 and died 1 January 1943; Dianna Gail; Connie Louise, Nevin Duane and Elinor Jane.

                880      iv.    Mildred Naoma SAYLOR was born 11 October 1922 and died 16 February 2006 in Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, at age 83.  She married Harold William OLDHAM who was born 4 October 1921 and died 6 August 1886 at age 64. His last known residence was Ft. Pierce, Saint Lucie County, Florida. They had a daughter Cheryl Kaye.

                881       v.    Lois Kathleen SAYLOR married her third cousin Bernard Blackburn BAREFOOT, son of John Oscar Barefoot and Anna Mae Crissman.  Bernard was born 27 October 1919 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and died 20 July 1994 at age 74.  They had children Gary Saylor and Becky Ann. (see #328 above)

                882      vi.    Phyllis J. SAYLOR was born 15 May 1928.  She died 16 February 2002 at age 73. Her last known address was Columbia, Warren County, New Jersey. Phyllis married Darl E. WESTOVER, the son of Vallie and Olive Westover of Cambria County, Pennsylvania. Their children were Barry W. who was born 21 December 1948 and died 26 May 1990 at age 41; Linda S.; Darlene J. and Darl E. Jr.

                883     vii.    George Robert SAYLOR married Leah Catherine ADAMS. They had children Jerry Adams, Douglas Craig and Lisa.

                884    viii.    Nelle Laverne SAYLOR was born 3 February 1932 and died 19 October 1981 at age 49. She married Ned Robert WEAVER and their children were Gregg Lynn, Duane Robert, Beth and Jill Alayne.

                885      ix.    Barbara Grace SAYLOR was born 8 June 1938.  She died 18 June 2005 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 67.  Barbara married Glen Rayn HANDWORK. He was born 28 January 1936 and died 15 November 1993 at age 57. They had children Robert Glen and Helen Joan.

 

     408.  Grace Lucille6 BAREFOOT (George5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 9 January 1902 in Alum Creek, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 25 August 1977 in New Paris, Bedford County at age 75 and was buried in Fishertown Cemetery, in that county. For 30 years Grace operated the Feather grocery and service station in New Paris.

     Grace married Harvey Bruce FEATHER 21 June 1922 in Bedford County.  Harvey, also known as Bruce, was born 9 October 1900 in Bedford County, the son of William Elmer and Carrie Belle (Mickle) Feather.  He died 5 April 1956 in Bedford County at age 55.

     409.  Julia Daisy6 BAREFOOT (Ross Hartley5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 12 July 1882 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 17 October 1929 at age 47 and was buried in Horne Methodist Church Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Julia married Benjamin Francis DUMM circa 1901 in Pennsylvania. Benjamin was born circa 1881 in Pennsylvania.  He, wife Julia and family were enumerated in the federal census of 1910 in Waukesha, Waukesha County, Wisconsin where Benjamin was a jointer for a sash and door company. In 1920 they resided in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota and Benjamin was a house carpenter.

                889       i.    Alma A.7 DUMM married first Milton HENDRICK and second James E. RENGSTORFF circa 1923. James, a printer, was born 6 August 1895 in Illinois, the son of William E. and Sophie Rengstorff. He resided with his parents in 1920 in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois. Alma and James had a son Wesley and in the 1930 federal census the family was enumerated in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. James died in January 1980 at age 84. His last known residence was New Glarus, Green County, Wisconsin.

                890      ii.    Verla DUMM was born 15 January 1904 in Pennsylvania and died In California July 1985 at age 81. Her last known residence was Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles County. Velma married first Die EAKRIGHT and second Lonnie NEAL.

                891     iii.    Ross Henry DUMM was born in Wisconsin and married Gertrude REINWALD.

                892      iv.    Lola K. DUMM was born 5 March 1910 in Waukesha, Waukesha County, Wisconsin and died 3 September 2004 at age 94. Her last known residence was Venice, Sarasota County, Florida. She married William GRUMMEL.

                893       v.    Charles DUMM was born in Wisconsin. He married Lucille LUNDGREN.

 

     410.  Charles Ross6 BAREFOOT (Ross Hartley5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 17 February 1884 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 11 July 1963 in Oslo, Norway at age 79 while visiting his grandchildren, and was buried 19 July 1963 in Toledo Memorial Park, Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.

     Charles joined the marines when he was 14 and saw action in the Philippine Insurrection and the Boxer Rebellion in China. He also served in Puerto Rico, Honduras, Colombia, Panama and Cuba. He was corps boxing champion and when discharged had risen to the rank of sergeant. Charles was the first marine to become national head of the Spanish-American War Association. He also held numerous offices in the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Charles moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1918 after practicing law for a year in Lewiston, Montana. He was a graduate of Ohio Northern University and its law school. While in college he earned letters in boxing, football and track. He was a councilman in Toledo in 1929, representing the 11th Ward.

     Charles married Kathryn Estella THOMPSON circa 1917. Kathryn was born 30 August 1889 in Indiana and died 19 June 1944 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 54.

                894       i.    Betty Nelle.7 BAREFOOT was born 29 November 1918 in Lucas County, Ohio.  She died 7 August 1952 in Sweden at age 33. Betty married Hans Edvard LINDSTROM. Hans, a Stockholm industrialist, was born 18 November 1918 in Sweden and died 25 April 1990 at age 71.  Their children were Jan Charles Ross; Vicki Christina, and Disa Kathryn.

                895      ii.    Charles Ross BAREFOOT, Jr., was born 17 February 1920 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. He died 1 November 1992 at age 72.  Charles married Evelyn May PARKER and their children were Shari Louise and Jeffrey Charles.

 

     411.  Florence Eloise6 BAREFOOT (Ross Hartley5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 10 October 1890 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 29 July 1949 at age 58.

     Florence, a music teacher, married Lawrence KIRSCHNER circa 1923 in Pennsylvania. Lawrence, the son of Thomas and Annie M. Kirschner, was born 10 September 1892 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.  A veteran of World War I and a house carpenter, he died 21 October 1970 at age 78. His last known residence was Ft. Myers, Lee County, Florida.

     Known children of Florence Eloise6 BAREFOOT and Lawrence KIRSCHNER were as follows:

                896       i.    Mary Idella7 KIRSCHNER was born 16 August 1925 in Pennsylvania and died 21 July 1986 at age 60. She married Harry Robert HEPNER who was born 18 August 1917 and died 13 February 1992 at age 74. Their children were Dennis R., Judith Ann and Karen Elaine.

                897      ii.    Thomas Ross KIRSCHNER married first Dorothy Jean ANDERSON and had a daughter Joan; married second Jeannette LEFARQUE and had daughters Carol, Susan and Jacqueline, and married third Jean [--?--].

                898     iii.    Barbara Ann KIRSCHNER married Galen R. MCCLAIN who was born 30 July 1922 and died 10 July 2004 at age 81. His last known residence was Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida. Their children were Michael, Patricia, Kathleen and Shirley.

                899      iv.    Nancy Lee KIRSCHNER married Robert V. IGO. Their children were Debra Jean, Robert Lawrence and Patricia Sue.

 

     412.  Emma Statler6 BAREFOOT (Ross Hartley5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 8 April 1892 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 20 November 1985 at age 93 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Emma married first Robert James ADAMS circa 1914 in Pennsylvania.  Robert was born 14 August 1882 in Pennsylvania and died 4 February 1948 at age 65.  Emma married second Maurice F. JILLETTE who was born 12 January 1895 and died 12 June 1954 at age 59. She resided in Arlington, Virginia in 1963 at the time of her brother Charles’ death.

     Known children of Emma Statler6 BAREFOOT and Robert James ADAMS were as follows:

     413.  Anson Clark6 BAREFOOT (Ross Hartley5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 19 December 1895 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died 17 October 1955 in San Diego, San Diego County, California, at age 59.

     In the 1920 federal census he was a sergeant in the U. S. Army at Fort Douglas Military Reservation, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah.  He and his family were enumerated in the 1930 federal census in San Diego where Anson was a salesman for a retail baker.

     Anson married Inger Mary EVERTS circa 1920 in Utah. Inger was born February 1898 in Spring City, Sanpete County, Utah.  Her father Frederick F. was born in Denmark and mother Leontine Hermana was born in Sweden.

     Known children of Anson Clark6 BAREFOOT and Inger Mary EVERTS, both born in California, were as follows:

     414.  Glenn Hartley6 BAREFOOT (Ross Hartley5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 7 April 1898 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died 29 May 1988 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 90. Glenn worked in a steel mill as a millwright and an electrician.

     Glenn married Anna Keziah HOWELLS circa 1920 in Pennsylvania. Anna was born 8 May 1898 in Pennsylvania and died 29 October 1980 in Johnstown at age 82.

                907     iii.    Thomas G. BAREFOOT, a twin, was born1 September 1928 and died 17 January 1996 in Pennsylvania at age 67. He married Marie FURDA and had children Darlene A., Michelle M., Natalie A., Thomas B. and Glenn T.

                908      iv.    Jane Ann BAREFOOT married George VOLSCKO, Jr., and had children Tracey Ann and Beverly Lynne. George was born 30 January 1927 and died 7 October 1992 at age 65. His last known address was Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

                909       v.    Linda Lee BAREFOOT married Carl Edgar THOMAS and had children Carla Linn and Daniel Ross.

 

     415.  Ivis Marie6 BAREFOOT (Ross Hartley5, James4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 30 March 1902 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 1 March 2003 in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas, at age 100.

     Ivis went into nurse's training and became an obstetrical nurse about the time of World War I. In 1925 she was Head Obstetrical Nurse at the Mendenhall Hospital in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

     Ivis married Allen Ross MCFEATERS in 1925 in Johnstown.  Allen was born 9 June 1901 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 24 October 1964 at age 63.  The son of Francis B. and Jennie McFeaters, he was also known as Ross.  Ivis married second John Earl CANN who was born 21 July 1904 in Pennsylvania and died 11 October 1975 at age 71.

     Known children of Ivis Marie6 BAREFOOT and Allen Ross MCFEATERS were as follows:

                910       i.    Joan Louise7 MCFEATERS was born 29 July 1927 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.  She died 15 July 1966 in Pennsylvania at age 38 and was buried in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Joan married Roy Eugene FOLKS. Their children were Duane Eugene, Deborah Joan, Suzanne and Allen Keith.

                911      ii.    Richard Paul MCFEATERS married Ruth H. RODERICK and had children Paul Roderick and Lisa Ruth. Ruth was born 28 October 1923 and died 2 February 1999 at age 75.

                912     iii.    Ardel Marie MCFEATERS married Kenneth Sloan MCLAUGHLIN. Kenneth was born 10 September 1926 and died 4 January 1996 at age 69. Their children were Dale Kenneth, Cheryl Lee, Robert Clark and Karen Louise.

                913      iv.    Sally Lee MCFEATERS married George Gearing KERR. They had sons Bruce Presley and Adam Shane.

                914       v.    Allen Ross MCFEATERS, Jr., married Judith Ann NEWILL and had children Cathy Ann and Allen Ross III.

     490.  Ira Earl6 BAREFOOT (Henry Mettler5, Samuel4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born in March 1886 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  He died in March 1959 at age 73 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Earl, as he was also known, married Carrie Alberta BOWSER circa 1911 in Pennsylvania.  Carrie, the daughter of George Polk and Mary Jane (Clark) Bowser, was born 28 May 1887 in Pennsylvania and died 30 September 1946 in Pennsylvania at age 59.  She was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.

     Earl married second Thora Mae BROOKINGS. Thora was born 12 November 1885 and died 8 January 1990 at age 104.

     Known children of Ira Earl6 BAREFOOT and Carrie Alberta BOWSER were:

                915       i.    Joseph Earl7 BAREFOOT was born 18 July 1916 in Pennsylvania.  He died 18 November 1987 in that state at age 71 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Joseph married Pauline Mae HOSTETLER, who was born 7 September 1918 in Geistown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 13 February 2004 at age 85. The daughter of Clyde Harrison and Minnie Agnes (Frye) Hostetler, she was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. Their children were Dr. James Earl, born 5 October 1935 and died 1 December 1986 who was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery; Dorothy Jean; Lola Mae; Mary Jane; Joseph Robert; Daniel Ray and his twin Martha Kay; and Arthur Jay.

     There were no known children of Ira Earl6 BAREFOOT and Thora Mae BROOKINGS.

 

     495.  Durban Horne6 BAREFOOT (Henry Mettler5, Samuel4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 24 February 1898 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania  He died 14 September 1988 at age 90 in Bedford County.

     Durban married Mabel SAUTER circa 1920 in Pennsylvania. Mabel was born 9 November 1902 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Miller) Sauter.  She died 3 February 1987 in Bedford, Bedford County at age 84 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery in that county.

     Known children of Durban Horne6 BAREFOOT and Mabel SAUTER, all born in Pennsylvania, were as follows:

Hazel married George Clair KOONTZ who was born 13 August 1921 and died 6 February 1999 at age 77. They had daughters Lisa Faye and Janelle Sue.

                918     iii.    Ivan Frederick BAREFOOT was born 23 November 1924 in Pennsylvania and died 2 June 2001 at age 76 at Holidaysburg Veterans Home, Blair County, Pennsylvania. His last known address was Fishertown, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Ivan married Betty L. SMITH who was born 16 November 1920 and died 16 December 1995 at age 75. Their children were Galen Lee and Kevin Ray.

                919      iv.    Charles Edward BAREFOOT married Mary Lou Arlene SEESE and had daughters Traci Lyn and Mindy Jo.

                920       v.    Harold E. BAREFOOT was born 12 January 1929 in Geistown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 28 April 2004 at age 75. He was a truck driver for 54 years and his last known address was Osterburg, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Harold married first Alma STAMBAUGH and their children were Russell Eugene, Deborah Kay, Rickey Lee and Vickey Lynn. He married second 15 August 1990 Shirley Garman CRILLY, the daughter of Willis and Florence Garman. She was born 3 April 1930 in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania and died 17 July 2007 at age 77. Both Harold and Shirley were buried in Bedford County Memorial Park, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

                921      vi.    Dona Faye BAREFOOT married Doyle Gene FEATHER. Their children were Douglas Doyle, Rodney Dean and Tamarra Fay.

                922     vii.    Donald Jay BAREFOOT, a twin, was born 27 June 1935 in Pennsylvania and died 16 July 1935 in Pennsylvania.

                923    viii.    Ronald Ray BAREFOOT, a twin, was born 27 June 1935 in Pennsylvania.  He died 18 October 1994 at age 59. His last known address was Imler, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Ronald married Ruby Grace HENGST and their children were Donald Lee, Leslie Ann and Ronald Duane.

 

     496.  Mary Ethel6 BAREFOOT (Henry Mettler5, Samuel4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 2 July 1900 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 25 July 1986 at age 86 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

    Mary married Charles Webster ADAMS circa 1924 in Pennsylvania.  Charles, the son of John W. and Mary E. Adams, was born 20 May 1892 in Bedford County and died 31 July 1970 at age 78.  He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.

     Mary and Charles adopted a child, Janet L. Corle who married George Arthur McMillen.

                925      ii.    Charles Sherman ADAMS was born 8 December 1929 in Pennsylvania.  He died 1 July 2001 at age 71 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Charles married Ruth Helen SCHNEIDER and had children James Sherman, Mary Ellen, Elizabeth Ann and Ethel Marie.

 

     500.  Lillian Alma6 BAREFOOT (James Albert5, Samuel4, James3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 7 December 1897 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  She died 15 December 1992 at age 95 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

     Lillian married Hugh BECKLEY circa 1921 in Pennsylvania. Hugh, the son of Clarence and Ella Beckley, was born 7 November 1897 in Bedford County and died 24 October 1963 at age 65.  He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.  In the federal census for 1930 he, his wife and daughter appeared in Monongahela, Washington County, Pennsylvania.  Hugh’s occupation was enumerated as teacher.

     Edwin married Leona Ann ROBERTSON circa 1923 in Pennsylvania.  Leona was born 1 March 1902 in Pennsylvania and died 22 April 1990 in Pennsylvania at age 88.  She was the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Jones) Robertson.

Morris served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked at Sealed Power Corporation, retiring in 1987.

                931      ii.    Robert Blaine BAREFOOT was born 26 April 1926 and died 31 January 2001 in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware at age 74. He married first Martha PROBST who was born 22 January 1926 and died 21 April 1981 in Delaware at age 55, and they had children David Blaine, Cynthia Jean and Nancy Ann. He married second Nancy S. RAGER.

                932     iii.    Carl Eugene BAREFOOT married Shirley M. KOCHERA and had children Eric Loren and Caren Lesley. Eric was born 2 August 1954 and died 1 November 2000 at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania at age 46. He was buried in Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Huntingdon.

[--?--] but they were divorced between 1921 and 1930 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.  Mary was born circa 1881 in Ohio.

    Harry appeared on the federal censuses of 1910 and 1920 in Columbus, where in 1910 his occupation was given as mechanic for the Singer Manufacturing Company. In the 1930 federal census he was divorced, a factory worker, residing with his son Harry, Jr., an electrical mechanic, in the Admiral Hotel in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California. Harry’s last known residence was Delaware, Delaware County, Ohio.

Milton was a machinist and by 1930 worked as a superintendent for a tent and awning company in Columbus.

     Milton married first Bertha May GREENLEE 8 September 1901 in Columbus. Bertha was born circa 1882 in West Virginia and died 8 June 1921 in Columbus.  He married second Hazel Markwood Gorby FANSLER circa 1923. Hazel was born 18 December 1896 in Ohio, the daughter of Thomas and Nathalie Gorby.  She died 1 November 1987 in Delaware, Ohio at age 90.  Hazel’s first husband was Earl M. Fansler of Indiana, enumerated as a cashier on the Pullman car line in the 1920 federal census for Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.

     569.  Stanley Lamar6 BURSON (William C.5, Catharine E.4 Rutter, Isabella3 Barefoot, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 28 September 1886 in Hancock County, Ohio and died 21 May 1977 in that county at age 90.  He was buried in Riverview Cemetery, Jackson Township, Hancock County.

     Stanley taught school for fifteen years and then was an automobile salesman with the Ford Motor Company of Findlay. The family moved to Findlay, Ohio, in 1904.

     Stanley married Florence Mae KRING 3 October 1912 in Hancock County.  Florence was born 30 December 1888 in that county, the daughter of Burr and Laura B. Kring.  She died 12 August 1974 in Hancock County at age 85 and was buried in Riverview Cemetery.

Wilbur operated a grocery store in Mansfield.

     He married 10 March 1923 in Hancock County Marjorie Alma SLICK, the daughter of Lewis B. and Ada B. Slick. Marjorie was born 21 July 1901 in St. Joseph County, Indiana.  She died 28 February 1999 in Mansfield at age 97 and was buried in River View Cemetery.

     Known children of Wilbur H.6 BURSON and Marjorie Alma SLICK, all born in Hancock County, Ohio, were as follows:

     593.  Ross Franklyn6 BAREFOOT (Walter Augustus5, Samuel Ross4, Job Palmer3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 2 April 1889 in Cambridge City, Wayne County, Indiana.  He died 21 April 1946 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 57. The cause of death was anaphalactic shock from a bee sting; acute deflation of heart, mitral insufficiency.  Ross was buried 24 April 1946 in Memorial Park in Dayton.

     Ross was a jack of all trades and held many jobs including meter reader for the Dayton, Power & Light Company, gas furnace repairman, and inspector for Chrysler Airtemp. He also worked for Inland Corporation and United Aircraft Products, and raised chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and bees.

     On 24 December 1918 in Union City, Randolph County, Indiana, Ross married Hazel Dora GIMBEL, daughter of William and Mary Magdalena (Kraner) Gimbel.  Hazel was born 5 February 1891 in Union City and died 20 February 1971 in Arcadia, Los Angeles County, California at age 80. The cause of death was cardiac arrest, myocardial infarction.  She was buried 24 February 1971 in Memorial Park, Dayton. Upon the death of her husband, Hazel moved to California to live with her daughter Mary and son-in-law Albert Hansen.  She returned to Indiana and worked as a cook at the Union City Hospital in Union City, Indiana from 1952 to1956, and then resettled with her daughter Mary in the Los Angeles area.  At the time of her death she was an active member of the Arcadia Senior Citizens and the Lutheran Church of the Cross.

     Known children of Ross Franklyn6 BAREFOOT and Hazel Dora GIMBEL, all born in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, were as follows:

          988       i.   Walter William BAREFOOT was born 8 November 1919 and died 30 November 2002 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 83. He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and for 30 years worked for the National Cash Register Company in Dayton as an assembler and foreman. He also owned and operated Barefoot Resort, a fishing camp in Cedarville, Mackinac County, Michigan. Walter married first Freda Eleanor MOORMAN 8 April 1939 in Dayton. Freda, the daughter of Frederick and Edna (Hank) Moorman, was born 21 July 1916 in Celina, Mercer County, Ohio. She died 26 December 1988 in Clearwater, Pinellas County, Florida at age 72, and was buried 30 December 1988 in Montgomery County, Ohio. Walter and Freda had four children: Janice Eleanor, Carol Ann, Deborah Jean, and Walter William II. Walter married second Vivian Marie SPARKS 14 December 1990 in Union, Montgomery County

                989      ii.    Robert Earl BAREFOOT was born 18 October 1921 and died 9 July 2012 at age 90 in San Diego, California. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Force in WWII, piloting a B-25 Mitchell Bomber in 46 missions over hostile territory in the European Theater of Operations. For his service Robert was awarded the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters; European, African, Mideastern Campaign medal with three battle stars; American Defense Campaign medal; Presidential Unit Citation, and WWII Victory Medal. For 40 years Robert was an aviation electronics engineer and technical consultant for U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy operations. On 31 January 1923 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio Robert married Mary Ellen DOTTS. Mary Ellen was born 31 January 1923 in Terra Haute, Vigo County, Indiana, the daughter of William and Rosetta ‘Susie’ Pearl (Gibson) Dotts, and died 11 January 2007 in San Diego at age 83 of a brain aneurysm. Both Robert and Mary Ellen were buried in El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego. Robert and Mary Ellen had a son Robert Dean and daughter Carolyn Sue.

                990     iii.    Dale Eugene BAREFOOT was born 2 August 1923 and died 11 May 2004 in Florida at age 80. He was buried 17 May 2004 in Memorial Park, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Dale served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II, and for 37 years was an assembler for the National Cash Register Company in Dayton. He retired in 1985.  Dale married Agnes Josephine ‘Jo’ SCHULZE 7 February 1948 in Dayton. Jo, the daughter of Louis and Henrietta (Berke) Schulze, was born 17 June 1924 in Minster, Auglaize County, Ohio. She died 24 August 1996 in Pinellas County, Florida at age 72, and was buried 29 August 1996 in Memorial Park. Dale and Jo had five children: Constance Joyce, Kathleen Louise, Daniel Eugene, Gail Lynn, and Douglas Edward.

                991      iv.    Mary Elizabeth BAREFOOT married Albert HANSEN 6 April 1946 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Albert was born 6 November 1913 in Cotesfield, Howard County, Nebraska, the son of Jens Peter and Carrie E. (Andersen) Hansen of Denmark. He died 3 August 1989 in San Bernardino County, California at age 75, and was buried 12 August 1989 in Memorial Park, Dayton.  Albert was an attorney for 26 years, retiring as senior legal counsel for Allstate Insurance Company in Los Angeles, California. Mary and Albert had no children.

     596.  Harry Felton6 BAREFOOT (Elam Lemon5, Samuel Ross4, Job Palmer3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 2 May 1890 in Cambridge City, Wayne County, Indiana.  He died 6 September 1967 in Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana at age 77 and was buried 8 September 1967 in Tomlinson Cemetery, Monroe Township, Delaware County.

     Harry married Nancy E. GROOMS 8 June 1916 in Knightstown, Henry County, Indiana. Nancy was born 8 November 1892 in Indiana, the daughter of Walter and Bedial Grooms of Hendricks County, Indiana.  She died 12 October 1980 in Cowan, Delaware County at age 87.

     Known children of Harry Felton6 BAREFOOT and Nancy E. GROOMS, both born in Cowan, Delaware County, Indiana, were as follows:

          +   993       i.    Harry Max7 BAREFOOT, born 25 April 1917; married Nelle Irene ROBINSON.

     597.  Carl Dean6 BAREFOOT (Elam Lemon5, Samuel Ross4, Job Palmer3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 10 March 1892 in Cambridge City, Wayne County, Indiana.  He died 2 March 1983 in Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana at age 90 and was buried 5 March 1983 in Elm Ridge Cemetery, Muncie.

     Carl operated the company his great grandfather Samuel founded, Barefoot Poultry and Egg Company, first in Cambridge City, Wayne County, Indiana, then in Muncie on North High Street, and finally in Cowan, Delaware County.

     Carl married Avis Marie CARMICHAEL 26 March 1918 in New Castle, Henry County, Indiana. Avis, the daughter of Ed and Lottie Carmichael, was born 20 July 1895 in Kennard, Henry County.  She died 14 May 1994 in Muncie at age 98.  Avis attended Indiana Normal Institute (now Ball State University) in Muncie beginning in 1913.  She met husband Carl at college.  When Carl left to serve in World War I, Avis taught school in Cadiz and New Castle in Henry County. She was a member of the Cowan Christian Church.

     Known children of Carl Dean6 BAREFOOT and Avis Marie CARMICHAEL, both born in Cowan, Delaware County, Indiana, were as follows:

          +   995       i.    Robert Rex7 BAREFOOT, born 20 July 1920; married Fala Jeraldine THOMBURG.

          +   996      ii.    Carlton Keith BAREFOOT, born 17 July 1922; married Marjorie Elizabeth FLETCHER.

 

     608.  Willis Miller6 BAREFOOT (Harry C.5, Job Palmer4, Job Palmer3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 28 December 1892 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  He died 22 December 1964 in Lancaster County at age 72 and was buried in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery in that county.

     Willis married 24 February 1916 Margie Lindeman BAKER who was born 24 March 1894 in Lancaster County, the daughter of Levi D. and Jennie C. Baker, and died 12 April 1970 at age 76. She was buried in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. The couple and their daughter resided in Manor Township, Lancaster County.

     Known children of Willis Miller6 BAREFOOT and Margie Lindeman BAKER were:

                999       i.    Myrtle Marie7 BAREFOOT was born 30 May 1919 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and died 22 December 2002 at age 83. She married H. Lester NEWCOMER and they had a son. H. Lester was born 29 February 1920 and died 16 May 1992 at age 72. The family resided in Mountville, Lancaster County.

 

     609.  Oscar Miller6 BAREFOOT (Harry C.5, Job Palmer4, Job Palmer3, Benjamin2, Samuel1) was born 10 August 1894 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  He died 13 December 1918 in Lancaster County at age 24, and was buried in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery in that county on 15 December.

     Oscar married Mary Della HARVEY 28 November 1915. Mary was born 15 January 1900 in Drumore Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Jacob W. and Anna (Himes) Harvey.  After Oscar died she married second Fray E. Peters. Mary died 8 January 1984 in Lancaster County at age 83 and was buried next to Oscar in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.

     It would appear that Oscar fathered a child out of wedlock with Marion Sheckard, daughter of William J. and Rose M. Sheckard of Manor Township, Lancaster County. The child, Meta Marie Barefoot as per a birth certificate and marriage license giving her father’s name as Oscar Barefoot, was born 7 December 1911 in Washington Boro, Manor Township, and died at age 76 on 18 December 1987 in Whitehall Nursing Home in Lancaster. She was buried in Washington Boro Cemetery. Meta married Earl V. ORTMAN 27 January 1930, and their children were Edna, Donald, Abraham, Lloyd, Kenneth and James and Mabel.

     Known children of Oscar Miller6 BAREFOOT and Mary Della HARVEY were:

             1000       i.    Oscar Harvey7 BAREFOOT was born 24 March 1917 in Manor Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  He married first Evelyn Jane GERTLER 22 July 1946 in Maryland and they had daughters Linda J., Barbara A., Carrie M. and Theresa A.  Oscar married second Anna T. BAILEY 30 May 1964 in Lancaster County.  Anna was born 24 May 1919 in Lancaster County and died 9 June 1995 in that county at age 76. She was buried in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Oscar died 7 May 2000 in Lancaster County at age 83 and was buried in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in Italy where he received a Purple Heart. For 35 years he drove a truck for the former Olmsted Air Force Base, retiring in 1981.

             Oscar and Mary may also have had a daughter Edith May who died 4 June 1918 at age 3 months and was buried in

                         Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
