225. Alonzo⁶ MOORE (John S.⁵, Rebecca⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 27 July 1865 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died in 1952 at age 87.

He married Adaline PRICE circa 1886 in Bedford County. Adaline, the daughter of Daniel and Ellen Price, was born 14 November 1867 in Bedford County and died 16 November 1938 at age 71.

629 i. Lloyd H.⁷ MOORE was born 11 September 1886. He died 13 February 1973 at age 86 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Lloyd married circa 1916 Goldie SPENCER who was born in Bedford County 26 June 1897, the daughter of Grant A. and Liddie R. Spencer, and died 23 December 1974 at age 77. Their children were Martha Jane, born 29 February 1917 and died 14 January 1977 at age 59 who married first Paul REED and second Michael RINEHART; Harvey Alonzo, born 29 September 1919 and died 26 January 2002 at age 82 who married Eleanor STRYKER; Stanley, born in 1921 and died in 1930, after April 21^st, at age 9 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery; Sylvia; Emory J., born 6 July 1925 and died 2 May 2007 at age 81 whose last known residence was Willamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; Junior Lee, born 22 November 1927 and died 26 January 1950 at age 22; Alma Loretta; Earl R. who married Shirley A. TRIMBEL; Wayne; Dorothy Fay, born 11 July 1935 and died 11 March 2006 at age 70, who married Thomas Wilmer HEMPHILL; and Patsy Lou, who married first Merlin WELCH and second Charles SHOLLEY.

630 ii. Ella May MOORE was born 24 September 1888 and died 5 January 1960 at age 71. She married circa 1911 Joseph E. IMLER, the son of Andrew C. and Ellen Imler, who was born 22 April 1895 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died in November 1954 at age 59. Their children were Dorothy Leora who was born 15 January 1912 and married Eugene W. DERMER; Ethel Marie, who was born 15 August 1915 and married John Warren OLDHAM; Lillian, born 3 July 1919 and died 24 February 1976 at age 56 who married Marion ROBLEY; Andrew Alonzo, born 4 September 1921 and died 18 November 1945 at age 24; Helen Alice, born 25 February 1924 and died 1 January 1940 at age 15; Freda May, born in 1927 and died 25 June 1967 at age 40; and Betty Josephine who married Donald HOUP.

631 iii. Russell Cashia MOORE was born 19 April 1890. He died 7 March 1960 at age 69. Russell married circa 1912 Mary “Mollie” BRALLIER who was born circa 1879 and died 19 November 1955. The couple resided in Johnstown, Cambria, County, Pennsylvania where in 1930 Russell was a truck driver for a lumber company. They had no children.

632 iv. John Roy MOORE, called Roy, was born 1 April 1896. He died 22 April 1982 at age 86. Roy married circa 1918 Viola STUTZMAN who was born 21 April 1900 and died 18 March 1972 at age 71 and they had a son Byron Lee who married Lois KUNKLE. The family resided in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania where Roy worked in a steel mill.

633 v. James Ira MOORE, called Ira, was born 11 August 1907 in Pennsylvania and died in 1994 at age 87. He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Ira married circa 1928 Gladys V. DIEHL, the daughter of Clarence and Carrie Diehl, who was born 26 July 1908 in Colerain Township, Bedford County and died 25 November 2003 at age 95. She was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. Their children were William Cambol who married first Doris June WORRELL and second Ethel Louise WINEGARDNER; Betty Lou who married George Michael SHAFFER; James Robert who married Geraldine Joyce SHEIRER; Jack Eugene who married Sylvia Jane BOOR; Nancy Kay who married first GERALD WEAVER and second Luther Allen BAREFOOT; and Connie Rae who married James William HARBAUGH.

226. Howard F.⁶ MOORE (John S.⁵, Rebecca⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born in 1867 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died in 1928 in Pennsylvania at age 61.

He married first circa 1892 in Bedford County Magdaline May [--?--] who was born in May 1871 in Pennsylvania. She was known as Maggie and died in 1915 in Pennsylvania at age 44. Howard married second Blanche ALLISON circa 1918 in Pennsylvania. Blanche was born 21 February 1894 in Pennsylvania and died 17 July 1967 at age 73. She was perhaps married before, or at least had a child by another man, for in the 1920 federal census Paul E. Leventry, age 3 years, 4 months, was listed as stepson to Howard. This child was adopted by Howard, taking his surname. He was born 26 March 1916 and died 16 April 1978 at age 62 and married Hazel Lucille Wingard.

634 i. Wilbur Dorsey⁷ MOORE, sometimes known as Dorsey, was born 31 August 1893. He died 19 February 1971 in Pennsylvania at age 77. Wilbur married circa 1919 Bertha ROWSER, the daughter of Martin and Mary Rowser, who was born 2 November 1885 in Pennsylvania and died 8 August 1957 at age 71. They had a daughter Ella Mae who married Kenneth James GOLDBACH.

635 ii. Walter Richard MOORE was born in March 1896. He died 21 October 1911 in Pennsylvania at age 15.

636 iii. John G. MOORE was born 25 May 1903 and died 10 October 1922 at age 19.

She married John Franklin FEATHERS circa 1897 in Pennsylvania. John was born 2 August 1874 in Pennsylvania, the son of Moses and Henrietta Feathers, and died 19 March 1925 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 50. He was an insurance agent in the 1900 census; a teamster for an ice company in 1910, and a steel mill laborer in 1920.

642 iv. Gilbert Franklin FEATHERS was born 12 October 1912 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 11 January 1985 in Pennsylvania at age 72. His last known residence was Butler County, Pennsylvania. Gilbert married Margaret Arlene BLOUGH and they had a son Gilbert Leon.

643 v. Leon Moore FEATHERS was born 13 September 1917 and died 5 May 1989 in Ohio at age 71. His last known residence was Willoughby, Lake County, Ohio. Leon married Nell SEESE and they had children Leon Gilbert; Barry Arthur; Douglas Charles; Gregory John; and Deborah Ann.

231. Harry Smith⁶ MOORE (John S.⁵, Rebecca⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 25 November 1878 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He died 9 March 1950 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 71.

Harry married Elizabeth Pearl SUTER, the daughter of Simon P. and Ida M. Suter, circa 1905 in Bedford County. Elizabeth, who was also known as Pearl, was born 6 August 1883 in Pennsylvania. She died 30 December 1935 in Pennsylvania at age 52.

Their children were Ruth Eva who married Clair MILLER; Donald Stanford, born 29 March 1934 and died 24 December 1982 at age 48 who married Helen GERULA; Doris Ann who married Jerry Lee SHEPHERD; James Ross who married Patricia MCCARA; and Roy Allen who married Donna COOLEY.

646 iii. Homer W. MOORE was born 20 March 1913 and died 29 September 1999 in Pennsylvania at age 86. He married Verda C. CALLIHAN, the daughter of Ross and Mary Callihan, who was born 19 January 1918 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and died 8 September 2005 at age 87. Their children were Richard Homer who married Edith Ellen WEYANT; and Barbara Ann who married Ronald Lee ENSLEY.

647 iv. Rebecca Irene MOORE was born 2 November 1916. She married Randall R. MCCREARY, the son of William A. and Elizabeth M. McCreary, who was born 15 November 1907 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Their children were Janet Fay who married Edward Lewis ERJAVECK; Marion Lee who married Ronald D. HEIDORN; Susan Pearl who married first William BIGGERS and second Gene KIESSLING; Leita Christine who married Kermit RICE; and Joan Kay who married Randall KING.

648 v. Ross Suter MOORE was born 20 September 1919 and died in February 1986 in Pennsylvania at age 66. He married Anna Lee HOLLER who was born 23 February 1925 and died 15 February 1984 at age 58. They had children Annette Blanche, born and died in 1949; Alan Ross, born and died in 1950; and two adopted daughters Lynn Ross and Melissa Lee.

232. Sarah R.⁶ MOORE (Alexander⁵, Rebecca⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born circa 1870 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. She married Silas Alexander BONNER circa 1895 in Pennsylvania.

Silas was born 24 March 1870 in Pennsylvania and died 10 March 1956 at age 85. He was a clerk in a railroad depot in the 1910 federal census for Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania, and in 1920 was an ice cream manufacturer.

233. Margaret M.⁶ MOORE (Alexander⁵, Rebecca⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born in April 1877 in Pennsylvania.

She married circa 1902 Preston H. MARKLEY who was born circa 1877 in Pennsylvania. Preston, Margaret and family lived in Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia where he was a stenographer for a construction company in 1920 and for an insurance office in 1930.

650 i. Joseph A.⁷ MARKLEY was born circa 1905. He was a doctor.

651 ii. Harrison M. MARKLEY was born 26 August 1908 and died in February 1986 at age 77. His last known residence was Austin, Travis County, Texas.

237. Jane⁶ CAUFFIEL (Mary E.⁵ Hammer, Elizabeth⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 9 May 1860 in Jenner Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. She died 20 April 1940 at age 79.

Jane married David LOHR around 1885. David was born in 1860 in Pennsylvania and died 18 December 1914 at age 54. Jane lived with her brother Alexander in August 1900 according to her mother’s obituary, but she, and Alexander, were not located in the census enumerated in June of that year. In 1910 her children, Nettie and Lloyd, had been hired out to other families in Jenner Township – Lloyd to his uncle Alexander Cauffiel and Nettie to her uncle John Cauffiel – and neither Jane nor David were located in the census for that year. In her brother Daniel’s 1934 obituary Jane was listed as Mrs. Jane Thomas of near Boswell in Somerset County and her name was given as Jane Cook in her brother John's 1955 obituary, indicating she had at least two subsequent marriages. However, Jane cannot be located in either the 1920 or 1930 federal censuses. She was also known as Mary Jane according to her brother Joseph Cauffiel's 1932 obituary.

652 i. Nettie Elizabeth⁷ LOHR was born 21 April 1886 and died in 1969 at age 83. She married Jeffrey YATES who died in 1937. They had a daughter Ruth Elizabeth born 20 December 1914 and died in 1971 at age 57 who married Alan DALEY.

653 ii. Lloyd Lavan LOHR was born 16 December 1889 and died 28 November 1962 at age 72. He married first circa 1911 Mary Ellen SPORTY who was born 26 July 1891 and died 4 January 1929 at age 37. They had children Melda Leora, born and died in 1912; Mildred Lorene who married first Norman GOOD and second Melvin HERMAN; Meredith Lavan who married Arlene Baker DARR; Marjorie Jane who married Paul Whitman WRIGHT; and Melba Laverne who married first Herbert Booth HOOVER and second Roy ROBERTSON. Lloyd married second Carrie Mae SHAULIS who was born 23 January 1902 and died 4 November 1978 at age 76. He had a daughter with her. In the 1920 federal census Lloyd and family resided in Jenner Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and in the 1930 census were in that county but in Conemaugh Township.

238. James Hammer⁶ CAUFFIEL (Mary E.⁵ Hammer, Elizabeth⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 15 August 1862 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He died 17 August 1930 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 68.

James married Jennie Elizabeth SELLERS 15 August 1888 in Pennsylvania. Jennie was born 9 June 1866 in Pennsylvania and died 2 October 1919 in Toledo at age 53. She was the daughter of Frederick and Margretta B. (Riehl) Sellers and sister of Rebecca Brinton Sellers who married Joseph Cauffiel, James’ brother. (see #243 below) By the 1900 federal census James, Jennie and family resided in Ross Township, Wood County, Ohio where James was purchasing agent for a glass works. They moved to Toledo and in 1910 James was manager of a machine company. He later was president of a steel manufacturing company in that city.

654 i. Rosella⁷ CAUFFIEL was born 28 July 1889 in Pennsylvania. She died 10 November 1970 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 81. Called Zella, she never married.

655 ii. Daniel Wood CAUFFIEL was born 30 July 1891 in Pennsylvania. He died 20 August 1979 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 88. Daniel married Nellie THORPE 9 January 1943. Nellie was born 3 March 1894 and died in Toledo in November 1973 at age 79.

656 iii. James Ford CAUFFIEL was born 4 December 1893 in Pennsylvania and died 23 December 1923 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, at age 30. He married Hildreth A. MILEY 28 September 1921 and their children were James Robert born 20 July 1922 and died 20 March 2005 at age 82, and Janet Belle who married Henry Peter STREICHER.

657 iv. Joseph Lowell CAUFFIEL was born 4 July 1896 in Pennsylvania and died 27 July 1981 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 85. He married first Elda BEYARD 17 December 1918 and their children were Lowell, born 28 September 1919 in Toledo and died 29 September 1997 at age 78 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, who married Ursula Irene ZULKA; Wilma June who married Donald Charles DOMINIQUE; and Daniel Wood, born 4 January 1927 in Toledo and died 1 November 1990 in New Jersey at age 63, who married [--?--] NAGLE. Joseph married second Grace Brown PATTERSON in December 1961.

658 v. John CAUFFIEL was born 22 July 1901 in Ohio. He died in April 1972 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 70. John married Eloise Katherine HUEBNER 3 June 1925 in Toledo. Eloise was born 2 February 1902 and died in Toledo in January 1973 at age 70.

659 vi. Marjorie Belle CAUFFIEL was born 31 May 1906 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. She died 10 December 1974 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 68. Marjorie married Harold William MORGAN 19 January 1936 in New York City, New York.

239. John⁶ CAUFFIEL (Mary E.⁵ Hammer, Elizabeth⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 10 August 1864 in Jenner Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He died 18 April 1955 in Boswell, Somerset County, Pennsylvania at age 90, and was buried in Jenner Township Baptist Church Cemetery, Somerset County.

John married Rachel Emma RHOADS circa 1905 in Pennsylvania. Rachel, the daughter of Edward and Mary Rhoads, was born 26 March 1878 in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, and died 14 March 1947 in Somerset County at age 68. She was sister to Lucinda Edna Rhoads who married John’s brother Alexander Cauffiel. (see #244 below)

661 ii. Anna Frances Fern CAUFFIEL was born 20 September 1919 and died in April 1962 at age 42. She married John BUREK.

662 iii. Daniel Earl CAUFFIEL was born 30 May 1921 and died 16 May 1997 in Pennsylvania at age 75. He married Julia BOJAK.

240. Solomon Hammer⁶ CAUFFIEL (Mary E.⁵ Hammer, Elizabeth⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 22 April 1866 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and died 2 February 1949 at age 82.

In his mother Mary’s 1900 obituary he was listed as a councilman for the 17^th ward, Johnstown, Cambria County, and his name was given as Hammer Cauffiel, a name that also appears in the 1900 and 1910 federal censuses. Hammer and his younger brother Joseph were in the real estate and loan business for a time together in Johnstown. The company was called Cauffiel Bros., Inc. By 1910 he operated a coal mine and in the 1930 federal census he was a sales agent for a coal mine.

Hammer married Anna Elizabeth KEIM circa 1891 in Pennsylvania. Anna was born 6 April 1869 and died 14 September 1947 at age 78.

663 i. Isabelle⁷ CAUFFIEL was born in February 1892 in Pennsylvania. She married first circa 1911 George Wilbur MOSES and second Alexander H. LOUTHER, who was born circa 1891 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, the son of William C. and Elizabeth Louther, and was a lawyer in that city. Her children with Alexander were Janet E.; William A., born 8 August 1916 and died in March 1986 at age 69 whose last known residence was West Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut; Paul C., born 26 May 1918 and died 1 December 2000 at age 82 whose last known residence was Rochester, Monroe County, New York; Martha I.; and John H., born 17 April 1924 and died 6 February 2003 at age 78 whose last known residence was North Windham, Windham County, Connecticut.

664 ii. Paul Wendell CAUFFIEL was born 2 March 1895 in Pennsylvania. He married circa 1922 Adelene WILLIAMS who was born 10 March 1900 and died in May 1982 at age 82. Her last known residence was Ft. Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida. Their known children were Paul W., born 10 December 1923 and died in July 1978 at age 54 in Florida; and Dorothy.

665 iii. Mark Keim CAUFFIEL was born 11 January 1900 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. He died 15 December 1962 at age 62. Mark married Elizabeth GAFFNEY who was born 29 June 1904 and died 19 June 1994 at age 89. Her last known residence was Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania

666 iv. Ernest S. CAUFFIEL was born 22 May 1902 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. He died in April 1983 in Pennsylvania at age 80. Ernest married Esther Louise CARR, the daughter of Scott Winfield and Mary Esther Carr, who was born 12 September 1906 in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, and died in December 1994 at age 88. They resided in Johnstown.

241. Daniel Maddox⁶ CAUFFIEL (Mary E.⁵ Hammer, Elizabeth⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 22 June 1867 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and died between 1920 and 1930, likely in New Castle County, Delaware at age 66.

Daniel was a real estate agent for the E.I. du Pont Nemours Company in Wilmington at the time of his death. When young he opened a stone quarry in Stonycreek Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania and later became interested in the coal business, establishing the Sunnyside Coal Company. He helped T. Coleman du Pont build the Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania street car line and later helped him build railway lines in Alabama and in New York state. In the 1900 federal census Daniel and his family resided in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama.

Daniel married in 1888 Elizabeth Eva LEVENTRY who was born 28 December 1867, the daughter of Henry and Mary Catherine (Wulbrandt) Leventry of Germany. Elizabeth died 16 October 1935 at age 67. In the 1930 federal census for Brandywine Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware, Elizabeth was head of household, with marital status given as widow. Residing with her are children Luella, DeWitt, Daniel and T. Coleman.

Known children of Daniel Maddox⁶ CAUFFIEL and Elizabeth Eva LEVENTRY, all but the second from the youngest born in Pennsylvania, were as follows:

667 i. Luella K.⁷ CAUFFIEL was born 5 April 1890 and died 17 June 1992 at age 102, according to the Social Security Death Index. She never married.

668 ii. Chalmer D. CAUFFIEL was born in September 1891. He married Gladys C. [--?--] circa 1912. She was born circa 1894 in Maryland. They had daughters Joan; Betty (in 1930 census; Doris in 1920); and Janet.

669 iii. Dewitt T. CAUFFIEL was born 6 October 1893 and died 17 April 1990 at age 96.

670 iv. Beatrice M. CAUFFIEL was born in August 1895 and married William HALL.

671 v. Hazel Elnedia CAUFFIEL was born 7 December 1897 and married first Charles Harold SICKLE and second Harold MICKEL.

672 vi. Daniel W. CAUFFIEL was born 2 November 1899 in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama and died in April 1984 at age 84. His last known residence was Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware.

673 vii. T. Coleman CAUFFIEL was born circa 1906.

243. Joseph⁶ CAUFFIEL (Mary E.⁵ Hammer, Elizabeth⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 8 October 1870 in Jenner Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He died 9 July 1932 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 61, and was buried in Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Forwardstown, Somerset County.

Joseph went to Pittsburgh in January 1892 to study at Iron City Business College. Upon returning to Johnstown, he engaged in real estate and the loan business with his brother Solomon. Their company was named Cauffiel Bros., Inc. Joseph was elected mayor of Johnstown in the fall of 1911, and was twice re-elected to the same office, first in 1920 and then in 1928. At one time he was an independent candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania and was a friend and supporter of Theodore Roosevelt, serving as a delegate to the "Bull Moose" National Convention in 1912. Interestingly, Joseph was enumerated as a laborer in the Cambria County Jail in Ebensburg in the 1930 federal census, leaving Rebecca, his wife, as head of household in Johnstown.

Joseph married Rebecca Brinton SELLERS 15 June 1898 in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Rebecca, who also went by her middle name Brinton, was born 21 March 1877 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Frederick and Margretta B. (Riehl) Sellers. Her sister Jennie married Joseph’s brother James H. Cauffiel. (see #238 above) Rebecca died 13 May 1954 in Pennsylvania at age 77.

In the 1930 federal census for Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, she was enumerated as a teacher at The Taylor, a Friends Home located at 2001 Park Ave.

675 ii. Meade CAUFFIEL was born 7 August 1902 in Pennsylvania. He died in July 1968 in Pennsylvania at age 65. Meade received an A.B. degree from Haverford College and did post-graduate work at both Harvard and Yale. He worked in his father’s and uncle’s business, Cauffiel Bros., Inc. in Johnstown. Meade married Clyde Carland MACKENZIE in Washington D.C. 14 June 1932 not long before his father's death. She was born 20 November 1907 in Julian, Olean County, Pennsylvania and died 30 October 1990 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 82. Her parents were Rawlin and Bessie M. (Carland) MacKenzie. Meade and Clyde had two children.

676 iii. Mary Helen CAUFFIEL, called Helen, was born 18 July 1908 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. She married Clyde R. LOVINGOOD who was born 29 September 1905 and died 28 December 1987 at age 82. His last known address was Hendersonville, Henderson County, North Carolina. Helen and Clyde had two children.

677 iv. Eleanor May CAUFFIEL was born 6 February 1912 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. She died 28 May 2001 in Painted Post, Steuben County, New York, at age 89. Eleanor graduated from Hood College first in her class with a degree in chemistry. She taught science at Cochran Junior High School until marrying Campbell RUTLEDGE, Jr., on 7 August 1940 in Johnstown at the home of her parents. Cam, as he was called, was born 18 September 1912 in Cambria County, the son of Campbell and Maud Rutledge, and died 20 January 1980 at age 67. The couple had no children and resided in Corning, Steuben County, New York where Cam worked for Corning, Inc.

678 v. Brinton Elizabeth CAUFFIEL was born 18 January 1918 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. She died 3 February 2005 in Painted Post, New York, at age 87. She was also known as Betty per the 1920 and 1930 censuses. Betty married William H. TOMB, Jr., who was born 27 May 1912 and died 1 September 1979 at age 67. The couple had four children.

244. Alexander H.⁶ CAUFFIEL (Mary E.⁵ Hammer, Elizabeth⁴ Barefoot, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 3 July 1872 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He died in 1924 at age 52.

Alexander married Lucinda Edna RHOADS circa 1906 in Somerset County. Lucinda was born 7 December 1884 in Pennsylvania and died 9 July 1965 at age 80. She was the daughter of Edward and Mary Rhoads and sister to Rachel Emma Rhoads who married Alexander’s brother John Cauffiel. (see #239 above)

680 ii. Joseph Norman CAUFFIEL was born 8 October 1908 and died 24 May 1994 at age 85. His last known residence was Farmington, Oakland County, Michigan. Norman, as he was often called, married Agatha CENTALA who was born 4 November 1912 in Metz, Presque Isle, Michigan, the daughter of Watson and Hedwig ‘Hattie’ Centala, he of Germany and she of Russia. Agatha died 12 July 2000 at age 87. Norman and Agatha had a son.

681 iii. Mary Maybelle CAUFFIEL was born 8 December 1910 and married Homer G. HORNER who was born 6 June 1908 and died 3 March 1938 at age 29. Mary died 16 August 2000 at age 89. Her last known residence was Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. The couple had three children.

682 iv. Millard Rhoads CAUFFIEL was born 15 November 1912 and died 13 March 1978 at age 65. He married Dorene Arbutus BLOUGH, daughter of Josiah and Mary (Eppley) Blough 3 October 1936. She was born 26 January 1917 and died 5 March 1989 at age 72. Both were buried in Blough Mennonite Cemetery, Conemaugh Township, Somerset County. They had a daughter.

683 v. John Alexander CAUFFIEL was born 26 February 1915 and died 12 August 2001 at age 86. His last known residence was Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He married Ruth BRANT and they had three children. Ruth was born 18 March 1922 and died 2 March 1989 at age 66.

684 vi. Lester Earl CAUFFIEL was born 3 April 1917 and died 10 January 2007 in Pennsylvania at age 89. His last known residence was New Kensington, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Lester was buried in Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Pennsylvania. He married Virginia H. SALINA, or her last name may be Brother, who was born 13 September 1919 and died in January 1996 at age 76. Her last known residence was Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

685 vii. Lynn Elaine CAUFFIEL was born 29 December 1918 and died 18 November 2005 in Tyler, Smith County, Texas at age 86. She married 11 September 1937 Denton Ramon "Snuffy" Thomas who was born 1 June 1919 in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, and died 10 March 2002 in Chandler, Henderson County, Texas at age 82. Denton was operating engineer and road commissioner for Conemaugh Township for over 50 years and was the son of Leroy and Emma Viola (Eppley) Thomas. They had five children. Lynn was a retired Avon sales representative at the time of her death.

686 viii. Ann Norma Jane CAUFFIEL was born 15 August 1921 and died 30 June 2002 at age 80 at Laurel View Village, Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. She was buried in Thomas Mennonite Cemetery. Ann married Virgil Paul BLOUGH, son of Stephen and Effie (Sala) Blough 27 June 1941 and they had three children.

Clair variously worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Altoona, Blair County, the brick plant at Sproul, New Enterprise Stone & Lime, and Sealtest Dairy from which he retired in 1972. He was a member of the Dunnings Creek Church of the Brethren. The original church, located between Pleasantville and Ryot in Bedford County was built on land donated by his great-great-grandfather Christian Mock in 1843.

(Miller) Otto, who was born 10 March 1901 and died 17 October 1955 at age 54. Their children were Ruthanna Patricia, born 9 February 1929 and died 19 September 1973 at age 44 who married Jae Wesley BEATTY; Barbara Jean, born 7 September 1931 and died 20 March 1985 at age 53 who married Andrew RIGLER; William Frederick; and John Crissman.

Nathan married Wyzatta Bay WRIGHT in 1909 in Pennsylvania. Wyzatta was born 25 June 1884 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Darwin P. and Naomi D. (Gordon) Wright. She died 29 November 1959 in Pennsylvania at age 75, and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. In the 1930 federal census Wyzatta was enumerated in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania.

738 iii. Landis Elmer BAREFOOT was born 26 June 1914 and died 6 March 2001 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania at age 86. He was buried in Richland Cemetery in Cambria County. Landis served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II for 42 months as an instructor in gyro instruments at McClelland Field in Sacramento, California. He worked for 39 years in production control for Westinghouse Air Brake. Landis married Marietta May WINES and they had children Geoffrey Darwin, Kimberly May, and Beth Laverne.

739 iv. Erna Laverne BAREFOOT was born 23 June 1917 and died 5 November 1971 at age 54. She married Gustav John BAUER who was born 9 June 1914 and died 20 April 1974 at age 59. Their children were John David and George Alan.

330. William Draper⁶ BAREFOOT (James Alexander⁵, William S.⁴, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 18 October 1876 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He died 22 October 1952 in Pennsylvania at age 76, and was buried in Dunmyer Lutheran Church Cemetery, Adams Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

Draper William, as he was also known, and his family were in the 1920 federal census in Paint Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania where Draper was a coal miner. By 1930 they resided in Richland Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania and he was a farmer.

Draper married first Anna L. LENTZ circa 1902 in Pennsylvania. Anna died 14 August 1913 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County. He then married Ida May BAUMGARDNER circa 1915 in Pennsylvania. Ida was born Ida Murphy 13 July 1876. She married circa 1897 Elmer Baumgardner, a butcher in Scalp Level, Cambria County who was born in July 1874. Ida and Elmer had children Harry Leroy, Ethel Mae and Ruth Esther. Ida died 2 October 1918 at age 42 and then Draper married Sarah CLAYCOMB circa 1919 in Pennsylvania. Sarah, the daughter of Jacob and Delilah (McDonald) Claycomb, was born 13 March 1893 in Pennsylvania. She died 30 October 1936 in that state at age 43 and was buried in Dunmyer Lutheran Church Cemetery.

331. Clark Lorenzo⁶ BAREFOOT (James Alexander⁵, William S.⁴, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 4 September 1879 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania and died 12 November 1965 at age 86.

In the 1880 federal census his name was given as Lorenzo C. He and his family appeared on the census of 1910 in Allegheny Township, Blair County, Pennsylvania and he was a farmer. In 1920 the family resided in West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, and Clark was a woodcutter. He also was enumerated in the 1920 census in the household of his brother-in-law John Edward Gates and family in Paint Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania where Clark worked as a riveter of steel railroad cars. By 1930 Clark and family were back in Blair County, this time in Freedom Township, and he was a laborer in a brick plant.

Clark married Georgia Anna WEYANT circa 1902 in Pennsylvania. Georgia was born in 1884 in Pennsylvania and died in 1972 at age 88.

Their children were Russell Oran, born 23 November 1923 and died 11 January 2002 at age 78 who married Irene Louise BURKET; Anna Louise, born 3 April 1924 and died 28 June 1994 at age 70 who married Robert George DELL; Darrell Clark, born 30 June 1926 and died 19 July 1986 at age 60 who married Louise Eleanor CONRAD; Katherine Orlea, born 11 February 1928 and died 24 December 1997 at age 69 who married John Lee GENTRY; Audrey Rose, born 3 September 1929 and died 20 September 1996 at age 67 who married Frank Lee GROVE; and Ray Elwood. Although his first name formally was Joseph, he was listed as Walter or Walter J. in the 1910 thru 1930 censuses. He married first Katherine [--?--] and had a daughter Jeanne. He then married Anna Elizabeth EAVES and had a daughter Patricia and son Joseph Walter, Jr.

750 iii. George Clark BAREFOOT was born 12 July 1909 and died 9 February 1992 at age 82. He married Edythe Naomi DUGANNE, the daughter of Joseph E. and Josephine Duganne, who was born 18 June 1914 in Blair County, Pennsylvania and died 16 May 1991 at age 79. Their children were Richard Walter, Norman Fred and Nila Elaine.

Tillie married Daniel Oscar CLARK circa 1905 in Pennsylvania. Daniel, the son of Alexander L. and Susanna (Saylor) Clark, was born 16 November 1881 in Pennsylvania and died 5 April 1952 in Pennsylvania at age 70. He was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. Daniel was a general store merchant. After Tillie’s death he married second Alice P. Mock 10 August 1944.

LAMB, who was born 21 April 1908 and died 24 June 1975 at age 67 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Their children were Charles D., and Donna Jean who was born 28 December 1938 and died at age 62 on 18 August 2001 in Silver Spring, Montgomery County, Maryland. She married Emory Eugene GEISER who died the same day as she at age 68. He was born 20 April 1933.

756 iv. Cyril Carl CLARK was born 25 April 1913 and died 10 November 1969 in Pennsylvania at age 56. He married Ruth Alice WIRICK, the daughter of Reuben and Nettie M. Wirick, who was born 4 May 1910 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and died 17 November 1898 at age 88. Their children were Robert Carl, born 29 June 1937 and died 25 June 1967 at age 29 in a truck accident who married Marily Jean FISHER; Ronald L., born 15 April 1939 and died 16 December 2006 at age 67 who married Minnie I. WHYSONG; and Barry Lynn.

She married George William KRUMBINE who was born 19 November 1915 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 16 October 1993 at age 77. He was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Krumbine. Touraine and George had children William Edward; Robert Jay; Edith Lou; George William, Jr.; James Morgan; and Paul Allen.

333. Jessie Pearl⁶ BAREFOOT (James Alexander⁵, William S.⁴, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 2 March 1884 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. She died 29 June 1920 at age 36 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County.

Jessie married Joseph Edward WISE circa 1904 in Pennsylvania. Joseph, known as Joe, was born 31 December 1880 in Germany and immigrated to the Unites States some time between 1896 and 1900. He became a naturalized citizen in 1914. Joe died in January 1961 in Pennsylvania at age 80 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. After Jessie's death Joe remarried circa 1924 a woman named Pearl, who was born circa 1894 and died in 1972. She was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery as A. Pearl Wise. They had children Betty; Ester; a daughter born circa 1928 and Ruth A.. These daughters, their parents and half-sisters Mildred and Eva, and half-brother Joseph, were in the 1930 federal census in Windber, Somerset County. Joe was proprietor of a livery, per the 1920 census, and a tailor in a tailoring shop, per the 1930.

Ward, a taxidermist, was Pleasantville borough councilman and mayor for the final 39 years of his life. He married Eula Georgia NUNAMAKER 14 October 1915 in Bedford County. Eula, the daughter of John H. and Mary E. (SLONAKER) Nunamaker, was born 23 December 1894 in Pennsylvania and died 25 March 1966 in Pennsylvania at age 71. She was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery.

769 ii. Mary Elizabeth BAREFOOT was born 21 September 1918 and died 19 March 1993 at age 74. She was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Mary married Henry Laverne DULL, born 10 October 1913 and died 6 January 1997 at age 83. The son of Harry K. and Daisey E. (Hinson) Dull, he was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery. Their children were Harry V.; Donna Lee; Ethel Laverne; Joseph Palmer; and Robert Eugene. Henry was the founder and a member of God's Missionary Church, Alum Bank, Bedford County. He was one of the organizers and the first fire chief of the Alum Bank Fire Company, and a founder of the Allegheny Steam and Threshers Reunion. He was founder and owner of Dull's Auto Wrecking in Alum Bank.

770 iii. Harold Ward BAREFOOT was born 3 September 1920. He died 18 January 1987 in Pennsylvania at age 66 and was buried in Mount Union Evangelical Church Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Harold married Emma Lucille STUFFT and their children were Ima Jean; Linda Dianne; Cynthia Leigh; and Brian Keith.

Russel, who also went by the name of Doc, was a farmer in Bedford County, Pennsylvania then moved to Detroit, Michigan to attend barber's school. Upon finishing school he moved back to Windber and opened a barber shop. He did not belong to the union so the barber's union tried to blow up his shop with a bucket containing 12 sticks of dynamite. Luckily the fuse went out. He was later paint foreman of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation at Ebensburg in Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

Russel married first Mildred Marie MILLER, the daughter of Emanuel A. and Derbie M. Miller, circa 1923 in Pennsylvania. Mildred was born 5 April 1905 in Pennsylvania and died 14 June 1930 of tuberculosis in Bedford County, Pennsylvania at age 25. He then married Laura L. ROMESBERG circa 1931. Pat, as she was called, was born 29 October 1907 in Garrett, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Madison J. and Leila (Wechtenhiser) Romesberg. She died 28 February 1989 in Ebensburg at age 81, and was buried in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, King Township, Bedford County.

Emerson was the owner of Bowser's Meat Market and was a longtime mayor of Pleasantville in Bedford County. He married Ethel M. CONSTABLE 20 July 1940. Sue married Vernon Grant GEISEL 15 August 1913 in Pennsylvania. Vernon, the son of Norman H. and Emma (Statler) Geisel, was born 16 April 1895 in Windber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania and died 21 October 1981 in Bedford County at age 86. He was buried in Fishertown Cemetery. According to his obituary, Vernon was a funeral director for more than 40 years and served as Bedford County coroner. He also was a president of the Bedford County Bank and an owner of the West View Motel. Vernon served as Pleasantville borough councilman and was a member of the Pleasantville Joint School Board. He graduated from the Eckels School of Embalming in Philadelphia. Three sons were also funeral directors: Fred, Louis and Jack.

Bernice was born 20 September 1916 in Napier Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William J. and Stella P. Shaffer. She died 25 October 2003 at age 87. Her last known address was Everett, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

She died 1 January 2006 in Pennsylvania at age 83. Ross and Carroll had children Donna Jean who was born 4 October 1942 and died 1 January 1943; Dianna Gail; Connie Louise, Nevin Duane and Elinor Jane.

880 iv. Mildred Naoma SAYLOR was born 11 October 1922 and died 16 February 2006 in Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, at age 83. She married Harold William OLDHAM who was born 4 October 1921 and died 6 August 1886 at age 64. His last known residence was Ft. Pierce, Saint Lucie County, Florida. They had a daughter Cheryl Kaye.

410. Charles Ross⁶ BAREFOOT (Ross Hartley⁵, James⁴, James³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 17 February 1884 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He died 11 July 1963 in Oslo, Norway at age 79 while visiting his grandchildren, and was buried 19 July 1963 in Toledo Memorial Park, Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.

Charles joined the marines when he was 14 and saw action in the Philippine Insurrection and the Boxer Rebellion in China. He also served in Puerto Rico, Honduras, Colombia, Panama and Cuba. He was corps boxing champion and when discharged had risen to the rank of sergeant. Charles was the first marine to become national head of the Spanish-American War Association. He also held numerous offices in the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Charles moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1918 after practicing law for a year in Lewiston, Montana. He was a graduate of Ohio Northern University and its law school. While in college he earned letters in boxing, football and track. He was a councilman in Toledo in 1929, representing the 11th Ward.

Charles married Kathryn Estella THOMPSON circa 1917. Kathryn was born 30 August 1889 in Indiana and died 19 June 1944 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio at age 54.

Florence, a music teacher, married Lawrence KIRSCHNER circa 1923 in Pennsylvania. Lawrence, the son of Thomas and Annie M. Kirschner, was born 10 September 1892 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. A veteran of World War I and a house carpenter, he died 21 October 1970 at age 78. His last known residence was Ft. Myers, Lee County, Florida.

Emma married first Robert James ADAMS circa 1914 in Pennsylvania. Robert was born 14 August 1882 in Pennsylvania and died 4 February 1948 at age 65. Emma married second Maurice F. In the 1920 federal census he was a sergeant in the U. S. Army at Fort Douglas Military Reservation, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah. He and his family were enumerated in the 1930 federal census in San Diego where Anson was a salesman for a retail baker.

Anson married Inger Mary EVERTS circa 1920 in Utah. Inger was born February 1898 in Spring City, Sanpete County, Utah. Her father Frederick F. was born in Denmark and mother Leontine Hermana was born in Sweden.

Ivis went into nurse's training and became an obstetrical nurse about the time of World War I. In 1925 she was Head Obstetrical Nurse at the Mendenhall Hospital in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

Ivis married Allen Ross MCFEATERS in 1925 in Johnstown. Allen was born 9 June 1901 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania and died 24 October 1964 at age 63. The son of Francis B. and Jennie McFeaters, he was also known as Ross. Ivis married second John Earl CANN who was born 21 July 1904 in Pennsylvania and died 11 October 1975 at age 71.

Durban married Mabel SAUTER circa 1920 in Pennsylvania. Mabel was born 9 November 1902 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Miller) Sauter. She died 3 February 1987 in Bedford, Bedford County at age 84 and was buried in Pleasantville Cemetery in that county.

He died 21 April 1946 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 57. The cause of death was anaphalactic shock from a bee sting; acute deflation of heart, mitral insufficiency. Ross was buried 24 April 1946 in Memorial Park in Dayton.

Ross was a jack of all trades and held many jobs including meter reader for the Dayton, Power & Light Company, gas furnace repairman, and inspector for Chrysler Airtemp. He also worked for Inland Corporation and United Aircraft Products, and raised chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and bees.

On 24 December 1918 in Union City, Randolph County, Indiana, Ross married Hazel Dora GIMBEL, daughter of William and Mary Magdalena (Kraner) Gimbel. Hazel was born 5 February 1891 in Union City and died 20 February 1971 in Arcadia, Los Angeles County, California at age 80. The cause of death was cardiac arrest, myocardial infarction. She was buried 24 February 1971 in Memorial Park, Dayton. Upon the death of her husband, Hazel moved to California to live with her daughter Mary and son-in-law Albert Hansen. She returned to Indiana and worked as a cook at the Union City Hospital in Union City, Indiana from 1952 to1956, and then resettled with her daughter Mary in the Los Angeles area. At the time of her death she was an active member of the Arcadia Senior Citizens and the Lutheran Church of the Cross.

He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and for 30 years worked for the National Cash Register Company in Dayton as an assembler and foreman. He also owned and operated Barefoot Resort, a fishing camp in Cedarville, Mackinac County, Michigan. Walter married first Freda Eleanor MOORMAN 8 April 1939 in Dayton. Freda, the daughter of Frederick and Edna (Hank) Moorman, was born 21 July 1916 in Celina, Mercer County, Ohio. She died 26 December 1988 in Clearwater, Pinellas County, Florida at age 72, and was buried 30 December 1988 in Montgomery County, Ohio. Walter and Freda had four children: Janice Eleanor, Carol Ann, Deborah Jean, and Walter William II. Walter married second Vivian Marie SPARKS 14 December 1990 in Union, Montgomery County. Vivian was born 13 January 1928 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, the daughter of Ernest and Elsie (Fenner) Fabian. She died 13 August 2015 at age 87 and was buried 19 August 2015 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dayton.

989 ii. Robert Earl BAREFOOT was born 18 October 1921 and died 9 July 2012 at age 90 in San Diego, California. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Force in WWII, piloting a B-25 Mitchell Bomber in 46 missions over hostile territory in the European Theater of Operations. For his service Robert was awarded the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters; European, African, Mideastern Campaign medal with three battle stars; American Defense Campaign medal; Presidential Unit Citation, and WWII Victory Medal. For 40 years Robert was an aviation electronics engineer and technical consultant for U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy operations. On 31 January 1923 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio Robert married Mary Ellen DOTTS. Mary Ellen was born 31 January 1923 in Terra Haute, Vigo County, Indiana, the daughter of William and Rosetta ‘Susie’ Pearl (Gibson) Dotts, and died 11 January 2007 in San Diego at age 83 of a brain aneurysm. Both Robert and Mary Ellen were buried in El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego. Robert and Mary Ellen had a son Robert Dean and daughter Carolyn Sue.

990 iii. Dale Eugene BAREFOOT was born 2 August 1923 and died 11 May 2004 in Florida at age 80. He was buried 17 May 2004 in Memorial Park, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Dale served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II, and for 37 years was an assembler for the National Cash Register Company in Dayton. He retired in 1985. Dale married Agnes Josephine ‘Jo’ SCHULZE 7 February 1948 in Dayton. Jo, the daughter of Louis and Henrietta (Berke) Schulze, was born 17 June 1924 in Minster, Auglaize County, Ohio. She died 24 August 1996 in Pinellas County, Florida at age 72, and was buried 29 August 1996 in Memorial Park. Dale and Jo had five children: Constance Joyce, Kathleen Louise, Daniel Eugene, Gail Lynn, and Douglas Edward.

991 iv. Mary Elizabeth BAREFOOT married Albert HANSEN 6 April 1946 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Albert was born 6 November 1913 in Cotesfield, Howard County, Nebraska, the son of Jens Peter and Carrie E. (Andersen) Hansen of Denmark. He died 3 August 1989 in San Bernardino County, California at age 75, and was buried 12 August 1989 in Memorial Park, Dayton. Albert was an attorney for 26 years, retiring as senior legal counsel for Allstate Insurance Company in Los Angeles, California. Mary and Albert had no children.

992 v. Harold Edgar BAREFOOT married Pauline Lucille VANCE 8 November 1947 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Pauline, the daughter of Curtis and Lyda (Penny) Vance, was born 22 October 1924 in Butler Township, Montgomery County. She died 19 December 2015 at age 91 in Castle Rock, Douglas County, Colorado at Brookside Inn Rehabilitation Center where she was recovering from pneumonia for which she had been hospitalized. Her body was donated to medical science and subsequently cremated. For the last eight years of her life Pauline lived with her only child Rebecca Jean and her husband Jonathan Scarpelli at their home in Sedalia, Colorado.

Carl operated the company his great grandfather Samuel founded, Barefoot Poultry and Egg Company, first in Cambridge City, Wayne County, Indiana, then in Muncie on North High Street, and finally in Cowan, Delaware County.

Carl married Avis Marie CARMICHAEL 26 March 1918 in New Castle, Henry County, Indiana. Avis, the daughter of Ed and Lottie Carmichael, was born 20 July 1895 in Kennard, Henry County. She died 14 May 1994 in Muncie at age 98. Avis attended Indiana Normal Institute (now Ball State University) in Muncie beginning in 1913. She met husband Carl at college. When Carl left to serve in World War I, Avis taught school in Cadiz and New Castle in Henry County. She was a member of the Cowan Christian Church.

608. Willis Miller⁶ BAREFOOT (Harry C.⁵, Job Palmer⁴, Job Palmer³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 28 December 1892 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He died 22 December 1964 in Lancaster County at age 72 and was buried in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery in that county.

Willis married 24 February 1916 Margie Lindeman BAKER who was born 24 March 1894 in Lancaster County, the daughter of Levi D. and Jennie C. Baker, and died 12 April 1970 at age 76. She was buried in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. The couple and their daughter resided in Manor Township, Lancaster County.

999 i. Myrtle Marie⁷ BAREFOOT was born 30 May 1919 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and died 22 December 2002 at age 83. She married H. Lester NEWCOMER and they had a son. H. Lester was born 29 February 1920 and died 16 May 1992 at age 72. The family resided in Mountville, Lancaster County.

609. Oscar Miller⁶ BAREFOOT (Harry C.⁵, Job Palmer⁴, Job Palmer³, Benjamin², Samuel¹) was born 10 August 1894 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He died 13 December 1918 in Lancaster County at age 24, and was buried in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery in that county on 15 December.

Oscar married Mary Della HARVEY 28 November 1915. Mary was born 15 January 1900 in Drumore Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Jacob W. and Anna (Himes) Harvey. After Oscar died she married second Fray E. Peters. Mary died 8 January 1984 in Lancaster County at age 83 and was buried next to Oscar in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.

It would appear that Oscar fathered a child out of wedlock with Marion Sheckard, daughter of William J. and Rose M. Sheckard of Manor Township, Lancaster County. The child, Meta Marie Barefoot as per a birth certificate and marriage license giving her father’s name as Oscar Barefoot, was born 7 December 1911 in Washington Boro, Manor Township, and died at age 76 on 18 December 1987 in Whitehall Nursing Home in Lancaster. She was buried in Washington Boro Cemetery. Meta married Earl V. ORTMAN 27 January 1930, and their children were Edna, Donald, Abraham, Lloyd, Kenneth and James and Mabel.

1000 i. Oscar Harvey⁷ BAREFOOT was born 24 March 1917 in Manor Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He married first Evelyn Jane GERTLER 22 July 1946 in Maryland and they had daughters Linda J., Barbara A., Carrie M. and Theresa A. Oscar married second Anna T. BAILEY 30 May 1964 in Lancaster County. Anna was born 24 May 1919 in Lancaster County and died 9 June 1995 in that county at age 76. She was buried in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Oscar died 7 May 2000 in Lancaster County at age 83 and was buried in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in Italy where he received a Purple Heart. For 35 years he drove a truck for the former Olmsted Air Force Base, retiring in 1981.

Oscar and Mary may also have had a daughter Edith May who died 4 June 1918 at age 3 months and was buried in

Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
