     44.  Mary Ann4 TANNER (Rachel3 Potts, Mary2 Hunt, Ralph1) was born 12 January 1811 in Kentucky. She died 25 March 1873 in Kentucky at age 62, and was buried in Underwood Family Cemetery, McLean County, Kentucky.

     On 23 February 1829 in Daviess County, Kentucky, Mary Ann married Thompson TUCKER, the son of John and Martha (Bunton) Tucker, who was born 15 May 1805 in Virginia. He died 16 October 1876 in McLean County at age 71, and was buried in Underwood Family Cemetery.

     Known children of Mary Ann4 TANNER and Thompson TUCKER were as follows:

               125       i.    John William5 TUCKER was born 28 July 1831 in Kentucky and died 6 September 1898 in McLean County, Kentucky at age 67. He was buried in Underwood Family Cemetery in that county. John married four times. He first married Martha Ann SISK, the daughter of Ebenezer B. and Mary Sisk, 12 November 1856 in McLean County. She was born 17 March 1839 in Kentucky and died 23 September 1864 at age 25. The couple had children Alexander A., born 7 August 1857 and died 3 September 1935 at age 78 in Merna, Custer County, Nebraska, who was buried in Kilfoil Cemetery there; Ebenezer Wilson, born 9 June 1859 and died 30 September 1938 at age 79 in Hopkins County, Kentucky, who married Martha Allen MILLER in 1884; Andrew Jackson, born 4 December 1861 and died 11 May 1943 at age 81, who married Ada Clem DRACE; and Mary Lurane, born 10 February 1864 and died 22 February 1940 at age 76 in McLean County, who married Hilas C. THOMASSON, the son of Nelson and Polly Thomasson, 21 October 1884. On 6 December 1866 John married second Martha's sister Susan E. SISK who was born 21 March 1841 in Kentucky and died 28 October 1867 at age 26. Susan was buried in Underwood Family Cemetery. John married third 12 August 1869 Eliza Elgiva/Elgina (Owen) Harris, born 15 November 1830 in Kentucky and died 20 March 1871 at age 40. In her first marriage she had children John A. Harris, born circa 1860; William Harris, born circa 1862; and Bettie Harris, born circa 1865. With John she had a son Kincheloe Hay, born 14 March 1870 and died 5 June 1933 at age 63, who married Louella USHER 29 March 1899. John married last Lucinda Christina TIPPETT 15 October 1874. She was born 15 March 1850 in North Carolina and died 10 July 1926 at age 76. Lucinda was buried in Buck Creek Cemetery in McLean County, Kentucky. John and Lucinda had daughter Arreny, born 22 July 1875 and died 8 August 1876 at age 1, who was buried in Underwood Cemetery; William Durrell, born 11 September 1876 and died 24 April 1950 at age 73 in Ohio County, Kentucky, who married Anna Laura DRACE 11 November 1902 in Daviess County, Kentucky; Eliza Christena, born 7 November 1878 and died 28 June 1935 at age 56, who married Lacy HIBBS 6 January 1902; Emma F., born 16 June 1881 and died 24 January 1961 in Ohio County, Kentucky at age 79, who married circa 1916 Harry Davis BROWN; Jonathan White, born 9 July 1883 and died 11 March 1948 in McLean County at age 65, who married Elmyra, called Myra, HARRIS in 1910; and Arra Bell, born 12 February 1886 and died 28 October 1915 at age 29, who may have been the first wife of Harry Davis Brown who married Emma F. Tucker, Arra Bell's sister.

               126      ii.    Frances Ann TUCKER was born 21 August 1838 in Kentucky. She died 16 February 1902 in Livermore, McLean County, Kentucky at age 63, and was buried in Underwood Family Cemetery, McLean County. Frances married Uriah George TABLER 27 May 1853 in Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky. He was born 9 December 1833 in Tennessee, the son of George Washington and Margaret (Hinshaw) Tabler. Uriah died 7 September 1907 in Livermore, McLean County at age 73, and was buried in Underwood Family Cemetery. The couple had three daughters: Mary J., born 11 September 1856 and died 11 February 1884 at age 27, who married Abram G. ASHER; Martha E., born 14 October 1857 and died 11 January 1897 at age 39, who married L. B. COOK 14 February 1889; and Sarah J., born 19 March 1860 and died 7 February 1921 at age 60, who married John L. ADCOCK.

               127      iii.    Mary Jane TUCKER was born 27 July 1842 in Kentucky and married John VANCE 24 August 1858 in that state. She died 8 October 1904 in McLean County, Kentucky at age 62, and was buried in Buck Creek Cemetery, Calhoun, McLean County. John was born in 1835 in Anderson County, Tennessee, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Jane (Greer) Vance. He died 23 August 1889 in Clay County, Arkansas at age 54. The couple had children Alice, born in October 1861 and died in February 1922 in Dunklin County, Missouri at age 60, who married Samuel M. WELLS 28 December 1876; Melissa Frances, born 29 May 1866 and died 26 March 1884 at age 17; Columbus Americus, known as Americus, born 29 January 1870 and died after 1920, likely in Butler County, Missouri, who married Clistie Alberta DAVIS 3 May 1910 in Butler County; William Rufus, born 10 August 1872; James, born in 1874 and died in 1877 at age 3; Emma, born 25 September 1876 and died 13 October 1968 at age 92, who married Harvey AXTON 9 October 1901 in Daviess County, Kentucky.; Alfred, born 26 September 1878 and died 18 May 1890 at age 11, who was buried in Buck Creek Cemetery, McLean County, Kentucky; Sadie, born 7 May 1881 and died 17 October 1944 in Daviess County at age 63, who married John W. HARPER 1 May 1899; and Melvin, born 7 September 1883 and died 8 April 1981 in Daviess County at age 97, who married Mable Claire NEUBAUER 5 September 1907.

               128     iv.    Jesse Potts TUCKER was born 30 April 1849 in McLean County, Kentucky. On 9 January 1867 in Daviess County, Kentucky Jesse married Melissa Frances “Fannie” PITT who was born in June 1849 in Daviess County, the daughter of  Joseph R. and Mary B. Pitt.  Jesse died of pneumonia 19 February 1906 in Livermore, McLean County at age 56, and tragically three of his sons also died of pneumonia in 1906: Thompson R., born 28 November 1867 and died 27 February 1906 at age 38; Hammond, born 9 May 1880 and died 4 March 1906 at age 25; and Clarence B., born 14 November 1889 and died 18 February 1906 at age 16. Father and sons were buried in Underwood Family Cemetery in McLean County. Jesse and Fannie also had children Willie, born circa 1869 who died before 1880; Martha McGee, born in September 1870, who married William Madison WELLS 8 September 1886 in McLean County; Charles, born circa 1872; Julia, born circa 1874, who married Franklin B. CAVENDER 11 January 1893 in McLean County; Comina, born circa 1876; Kate, born circa 1878; and Gus, born in November 1883.

 

     52.  Eli H.4 HARVEY (Christiana3 Hunt, Samuel2, Ralph1) was born in March 1834 in Wayne County, Indiana. He died in 1901 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas at age 67, and was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Wichita. Circa 1866 Eli married Ada J. KIRK who was born in February 1842 in Ohio. She died at age 62 in 1904 in Wichita and was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery. Eli and Addie, as she was known, resided in Kankakee Township, La Porte County, Indiana with their daughters until some time between 1880 and 1885 when they moved to Wichita.

     Known children of Eli H.4 HARVEY and Ada J. KIRK, both born in La Porte County, Indiana, were as follows:

               129       i.    Clemmie F.5 HARVEY was born in September 1872. She died 24 September 1925 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas at age 53, and was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Wichita. Clemmie married Cyrus Milton HAVERSTOCK, son of John Fred and Rebecka Ann (Jones) Haverstock. He was born 14 October 1871 in La Porte County, Indiana, and died 6 February 1930 in Wichita at age 58. Cyrus was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery. The couple had one daughter Lavera Hazel.

               130      ii.    Lillian Emma HARVEY was born in 1878 and died in 1957 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas at age 79. She was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Wichita. Circa 1899 Lillian married Harry Bernard FAWBUSH, the son of Mardallus and Ida B. Fawbush, who was born 3 December 1874 in Adams County, Illinois, and died 22 May 1960 in Wichita at age 85. He was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery.

 

     54.  Mary4 HUNT (Elijah3, Samuel2, Ralph1) was born 14 January 1822 in Ohio. She died 17 August 1849 in Darke County, Ohio at age 27, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio.

     Mary married William MOTE 4 July 1842 in Miami County. He was born 2 September 1821 in Ohio, the son of Joseph and Mary 'Polly' (North) Mote. William married second 4 July 1850 in Miami County Margaret Embrue (surname per marriage record) who was born circa 1833 in Ohio. William and Margaret had children Joseph H., born circa 1860; Rebecca M., born circa 1863; Charles S., born circa 1866; Mary C., born circa 1868; Annie M., born circa 1871; Webster Noah, born 5 June 1876; and Harrison M., born circa 1878. Between 1875 and 1878 they, along with their children, moved to Dade County, Missouri, and it was here William died, perhaps 2 October 1887.

     Known children of Mary4 HUNT and William MOTE were as follows:

               131       i.    Susannah5 MOTE was born 14 April 1843 in Darke County, Ohio. She died of a heart lesion 11 May 1920 at age 77 in Greenville, Darke County, and was buried 13 May 1920 in Sharpeye Cemetery in that county. Circa 1863 Susannah marred Philonzo CARPENTER who was born 20 August 1837 in Ohio, the son of Cyrus and Sarah (Underwood) Carpenter. He died of a cerebral hemorrhage 7 February 1915 in Washington Township, Darke County at age 77, and was buried 9 February 1915 in Sharpeye Cemetery. The couple had children Mary Alice, born 20 April 1866 and died 14 January 1947 at age 80, who married Jasper BURKETT 10 December 1887; Sarah C., born 1868 and died before 1880; Anna Marietta, born in May 1870, who married Clarence E. SKIDMORE 21 April 1892; Nellie Gray, born in 1871 and died 7 March 1924 at age 53, who married 29 March 1894 Charles Lewis RECK; Flora, born 23 July 1874, who married Joseph C. COLES 21 February 1900; Kate, born circa 1877; C. Clifford, born 26 April 1880, who married Bessie M. METZCAR 10 January 1903; Pearl, born 12 October 1882, who married first L. Alta ALEXANDER 25 May 1907 and married second Nathan THORNBURG; and Max Ward, born 25 February 1887 and died in 1965 at age 78, who married first Elona YOUNG 20 December 1908 and married second Flossy MANUEL.

               132      ii.    Daniel MOTE was born 25 May 1844 in Ohio and married Luvina GLUNT 23 November 1865 in that state. He died 1 September 1920 in Miami County, Ohio at age 76, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County. On August 8, 1862 Daniel enlisted in the army and participated in some of the fiercest battles of the Civil War including Cedar Creek, Appomattox Court House, Spotsylvania Court House and the battle of the Wilderness. Serving till the close of the war he received an honorable discharge July 1, 1865. Daniel's wife Luvina, the daughter of Peter and Jane (Elleman) Glunt, was born 25 September 1841 in Ohio. She died 6 July 1898 in Miami County at age 56, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery. The couple had children Cora Alice, born 25 November 1866 and died 16 May 1867; Clara Ann, born 31 July 1868 and died 8 July 1910 at age 41, who married Charles Edward HISSONG 11 November 1893; Omar Collin, born 9 November 1871 and died 12 February 1949 at age 77, who married Emily PEARSON 22 February 1891; Rachel Edith, born 8 August 1874 and died 30 December 1945 at age 70, who married John H. MICHAEL 1 January 1894; Jasper David, born 23 December 1875 and died 19 October 1877; Elizabeth, born 16 August 1878 and died 11 November 1956 at age 78, who married 29 March 1921 Jesse Ward HEISEY, widower of her sister Minnie; Jane, born 13 January 1881 and died 9 January 1961 at age 79, who married Charles Elmer SHEARER 23 December 1899; Peter William, born 19 May 1883; and Minnie Mae, born 12 September 1889 and died at age 30 on 1 October 1919, who married Jesse Ward HEISEY 1 January 1911.

               133      iii.    Elijah MOTE was born circa 1846 in Ohio.

               134     iv.    Rachel MOTE was born 1 August 1847 in Ohio. She died 22 November 1873 in Miami County, Ohio at age 26, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County. On 30 January 1871 in Miami County Rachel married David OAKES who was born 11 May 1838 in Ohio. He was the son of Jacob and Susannah Oakes and and his sister Rebekah married Rachel's uncle Richard M. Hunt (see #59 below)  David died 4 February 1915 in Miami County at age 76, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery. The couple had a daughter Mary Elizabeth, born 28 April 1873 and died 23 May 1933 at age 60, who married Willis Oscar LIMBERT 14 January 1893 in Miami County. David married second Sophia Walker, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Jane (Briney) Walker, 24 December 1875 in Darke County, Ohio. She died in 1879 and he married her sister Hester Walker 13 March 1881 in Darke County.

               135      v.    Elizabeth MOTE was born circa 1849 in Darke County, Ohio.

 

     55.  Ralph4 HUNT (Elijah3, Samuel2, Ralph1) was born 27 March 1824 in Ohio and died 6 March 1888 in Darke County, Ohio at age 63. He was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio.

     Interestingly, Ralph married three women whose maiden names were Walker but none of them were sisters. He married first  30 August 1845 Sophia WALKER, the daughter of George Phillip and Martha Ann (North) Walker. Her sister Hester married Ralph's brother Thomas Hunt (see #57 below). Sophia was born circa 1825 in Ohio and died 26 April 1859 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio. She was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery. On 18 June 1860 in Darke County Ralph married second Lydia WALKER, the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Herring) Walker, who was born 8 January 1839 in Darke County and died in that county 1 May 1874 at age 35. She, too,was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery. Ralph married last Rachel WALKER 19 February 1876 in Darke County. Rachel was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Jane (Briney) Walker. Her sisters Sophia and Hester married David Oakes (see #134 above).

     Known children of Ralph4 HUNT and Sophia WALKER, all born in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio, were as follows:

          +   137      ii.    Abraham J. HUNT, born 6 June 1850; married Caroline ELLEMAN; married Rilla Belle DERSHAM; married Mary Coate WILLIAMS.

               138      iii.    Susannah HUNT was born in 1851. She died 21 May 1871 in Darke County, Ohio at age 20.

          +   139     iv.    Phoebe Jane HUNT, born 25 October 1853; married Urias NETZLEY.

          +   140      v.    Theodore Stidman HUNT, born 18 January 1855; married Mary Ann HOLSAPPLE.

          +   141     vi.    Arlistus HUNT, born 18 September 1857; married Mary Elizabeth WRIGHT.

     Known children of Ralph4 HUNT and Lydia WALKER, all born in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio, were as follows:

               142       i.    Almeda5 HUNT, whose name has also been seen as Ida Almeda, was  born in 1864 and married John Wesley WRIGHT, son of John and Sarah (Penny) Wright, 6 December 1882 in Darke County, Ohio. She died in 1946 in Miami County, Ohio at age 82. Almeda was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Miami County, Ohio. Her husband John was born 29 May 1864 in Darke County. His sister Mary Elizabeth married Almeda's brother Arlistus Hunt (see #141 below) and his sister Hettie Elvira married Almeda's brother Charles Hunt (see #145 below) He died 13 August 1924 in Troy, Miami County at age 60 and was buried 16 August 1924 in Riverside Cemetery.

          +   143      ii.    James Aldus HUNT, born 18 May 1865; married Sarah HARMON; married Emma E. HOOTEN.

               144      iii.    Martha A. HUNT was born 18 December 1866. She died 5 November 1884 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio, at age 17, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio.

          +   145     iv.    Charles M. HUNT, born February 1868; married Hettie Elvira WRIGHT.

               146      v.    Albert HUNT was born in 1869 and died before 1880 in Darke County, Ohio.

     There were no known children of Ralph4 HUNT and Rachel WALKER.

 

     56.  Rachel4 HUNT (Elijah3, Samuel2, Ralph1) was born 7 June 1826 in Ohio. She died  22 October 1869 in Miami County, Ohio at age 43, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County.

     Rachel married Harvey Harrison JONES 10 February 1845 in Ohio. Harvey was born 9 February 1823 in Ohio, the son of Jesse and Jane (Cothran) Jones. After Rachel died he married 17 September 1870 in Darke County Mary L. Thompson, the daughter of Israel and Nancy Thompson, married previously to Josiah M. Richardson who died in the Civil War. Harvey died 9 April 1892 in Miami County at age 69. He was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery. Other children of Harvey and Rachel, according to "The History of Laura" were Euncie, born 12 January 1846 and died in 1854; and Susanna, born 9 April 1849 and died 9 February 1850.

     Known children of Rachel4 HUNT and Harvey Harrison JONES, all born in Miami County, Ohio, were as follows:

               147       i.    Lambert C.5 JONES was born 16 November 1850 and died of a cerebral hemorrhage 24 July 1919 in Laura, Miami County, Ohio at age 68. He was buried 28 July 1919 in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Miami County. Lambert married Amanda J. KELLY, the daughter of John and Harriet (Thomas) Kelly, 14 March 1874 in Miami County. She was born 22 May 1854 in Laura, Miami County, and died of cardio-vascular disease 2 June 1936 in West Milton, Miami County at age 82. Amanda was buried 4 June 1936 in Old Ludlow Cemetery. The couple had a daughter Flora E., born in February 1875 and died 14 February 1959 in Troy Miami County at age 84, who married Simon Edgar WRIGHT 20 December 1894 in Miami County; and a son Loren Marley, born 13 February 1878, who married Fay HOOVER 230 May 1900 in Miami County.

          +   149      iii.    Rollin K. JONES, born 17 February 1855; married Armina Kathryn HAWORTH.

               151      v.    Losin JONES was born 11 October 1859. He died 1 October 1864 in Newton Township, Miami County, Ohio at age 4, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County.

          +   152     vi.    Elmer Elsworth JONES, born 27 June 1862; married Callie NORTH; married Anna M. COPPOCK.

          +   153    vii.    Jane Cothren JONES, born 13 January 1866; married John Wesley WINTROW.

 

     57.  Thomas4 HUNT (Elijah3, Samuel2, Ralph1) was born 25 July 1831 in Miami County, Ohio. He died of myocarditis and nephritis 4 February 1910 in Laura, Miami County, Ohio at age 78, and was buried 7 February 1910 in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura.

     On 29 April 1852 in Darke County Thomas married Hester WALKER who was born 11 October 1834 in Darke County. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage 30 October 1912 in Laura, Miami County, Ohio at age 78, and was buried 2 November 1912 in Old Ludlow Cemetery. Hester was the daughter of George and Martha Jane (North) Walker, he of West Virginia and she of Ohio. Her sister Sophia Walker married Thomas' brother Ralph (see #55 above) She was also known as Hettie per her death certificate

     Known children of Thomas4 HUNT and Hester WALKER were as follows:

          +   154       i.    Theodore Newel5 HUNT, born 19 January 1853 in Ohio; married Amanda Jane YOUNG; married Maggie WEBB.

          +   155      ii.    Richard Sylvester HUNT, born 17 January 1858 in Darke County, Ohio; married Mary Ellen PEMBERTON.

               156      iii.    Wellington D. HUNT was born circa 1860 in Darke County, Ohio and died before 1900.

               157     iv.    Susanna HUNT was born circa 1866 in Ohio and died before 1900.

 

     58.  Abraham4 HUNT (Elijah3, Samuel2, Ralph1) was born 3 December 1834 in Ohio. He died of a cerebral hemorrhage 28 September 1920 in Union Township, Miami County, Ohio at age 85, and was buried 30 September 1920 in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County.

     Abraham, a blacksmith, married Eliza FUNDERBURG 19 March 1857 in Darke County, Ohio. She was born 16 March 1838 in Ohio, the daughter of George and Nancy (Clark) Funderburg, and died at age 53 on 21 February 1892. Eliza was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery. In addition to the children below, the couple also had a son Daniel M. who was born 29 August 1865 and died 13 December 1865 who was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery. The headstone says son of A & E.

     Abraham is likely the A. Hunt who married Kesiah Commons 7 March 1895 in Darke County, per Ohio Marriages 1800-1958. The 1900 census enumerated Abraham as married 5 years, but no wife was with him in the household of his son-in-law Francis Thomas in Union Township, Miami County. In that census  there was a Kesiah Hunt, age 54, born 1845 in Ohio, widowed [sic], enumerated as housekeeper in the home of D. and Rebecca Niswander in Greenville, Darke County, with her daughter Elva Commons, born in April 1885. Looking further in marriage records, Kesiah Fowble, daughter of John M. and Eleanor Fowble, married first Benjamin G. Good 11 March 1870 in Darke County. She married second Washington Commons. In the 1910 census Abraham still resided with his son-in-law Francis Thomas, and was enumerated as widowed. Kesiah Hunt cannot be located in that census.

     Known children of Abraham4 HUNT and Eliza FFUNDERBURG were as follows:

          +   158       i.    Isaac A.5 HUNT, born 26 February 1858 in Darke County, Ohio; married Esther D. YOUNT; married Anna ELLEMAN.

               159      ii.    Henry Philonzo HUNT, who went by the name Philonzo, was born 24 February 1860 in Darke County, Ohio. He died 11 August 1938 in Laura, Miami County, Ohio at age 78, and was buried 14 August 1938 in Old Ludlow Cemetery there. Philonzo married Lydia Alice LOWRY 8 April 1882 in Darke County. Alice, as she was known, was born 6 November 1864 in Ohio, the daughter of Jerome and Cynthia A. (Henderson) Lowry. She died of stomach cancer 3 December 1938 in Ohio at age 74, and was buried 6 December 1938 in Old Ludlow Cemetery. The couple had no children.

               160      iii.    Mary Susanna J. HUNT was born 26 February 1871 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio. Her name was given as Anna in the 1900 and 1920 federal censuses and her cemetery headstone. In the 1880 census she was enumerated as Susannah. Mary died of pneumonia 21 January 1930 in Union Township, Miami County, Ohio at age 58, and was buried 24 January 1930 in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County. She married Francis THOMAS 1 March 1892 in Miami County. He was born 25 February 1871 in Union Township, Miami County, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Pemberton) Thomas. Francis died 30 May 1939 at age 68, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery. The couple had a daughter Eva, born in January 1893, who married Esta M. SHELLEY 6 August 1910; and a daughter Marie, born in March 1895, who married George Edward ANDERSON 19 June 1915.

 

     59.  Richard M.4 HUNT (Elijah3, Samuel2, Ralph1) was born 8 May 1837 in Miami County, Ohio. He died 10 July 1889 in Darke County, Ohio at age 52, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County.

     Richard married first 23 October 1858 in Darke County Rebekah OAKES who was born 3 February 1840 in that county. She was the daughter of Jacob and Susannah Oakes and her brother David married Richard's niece Rachel Mote (see #134 above). Rebekah died 24 December 1865 in Ohio at age 25, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery.

    On 15 December 1867 in Darke County Richard married second Sarah Ann J. HAWORTH, the daughter of Samuel and Rosanna (Jones) Haworth. Sarah was born 7 October 1874 in Darke County, and died 21 September 1888 in that county at age 43. She was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery. Sarah's sister Elizabeth married Richard's nephew Harvey Hunt (see #136 below).

She died 29 June 1888 in Darke County at age 26, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio. Jesse was born 12 April 1861 in Darke County, and died of a coronary embolism 16 July 1939 in Ohio at age 78. He was buried 18 July 1939 in Old Ludlow Cemetery. The couple had a son Elmer, born 15 July 1885, who married first Angie S. WRIGHT 27 March 1910 in Miami County, and second Mary Elizabeth INGLE 18 September 1920 in Newport, Campbell County, Kentucky. Jesse married second Minnie D. ROOF 11 January 1893 in Miami County.

               163      iii.    Osborne Thomas HUNT was born 4 October 1863 and died 8 August 1895 in Darke County, Ohio at age 31. He married first Florence A. COPPOCK 23 December 1882 in Darke County. She was born circa 1865 in Franklin Township, Darke County, the daughter of Henry H. and Hester (Thompson) Coppock. Osborne married second Emma GRAY 13 October 1892 in Darke County.

               173      x.    Naomi Catherine HUNT was born 30 October 1882. She died 30 November 1884 in Ohio at age 2, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio.

               174     xi.    Edward Newell HUNT was born 15 December 1884. He died 5 November 1956 in Ohio at age 71, and was buried in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg, Darke County, Ohio. “The History of Laura” gives his name as Newell Edwin Hunt, however his name was enumerated as Edward in all federal censuses from 1900 onward, and his headstone is inscribed Edward N. Hunt. On 17 January 1906 in Darke County, Edward married Maude Pearl HANGEN, the daughter of Herman E. and Permila C. (Baker) Hangen, who was born in June 1887 in Pitsburg, Darke County. She died 12 July 1973 in that county at age 86, and was buried in Mote Cemetery. The couple had daughters Olive Pearl, born 13 May 1906, and Ethel Esther, born 10 January 1908. Both were born in Monroe Township, Darke County.

               175    xii.    Orville HUNT was born 12 April 1886 and married Ada Opal BAKER, the daughter of George W. and Rosanna (Ditmer) Baker, 27 October 1906 in Darke County, Ohio. He died of a coronary thrombosis 15 October 1951 in Norwood, Hamilton County, Ohio at age 65, and was buried 18 October 1951 in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg, Darke County. Ada was born 12 October 1890 in Pitsburg, Darke County. She died of tubercular peritonitis 29 August 1914 in Greenville, Darke County at age 23, and was buried 31 August 1914 in Mote Cemetery.

               176    xiii.    Leona May HUNT was born 21 May 1887. She died 24 August 1888 in Darke County, Ohio at age 1, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio.

 

     60.  John W.4 HUNT (Elijah3, Samuel2, Ralph1) was born in March 1843 in Miami County, Ohio, and died at age 65 on 21 August 1908 in Millersburg, Hamilton County Indiana. He was buried in Arcadia Cemetery, Arcadia, Hamilton County.

      John married first circa 1862 in Miami County Mary E. STAHLY who was born circa 1847 in Ohio. The couple resided in Hancock County, Indiana on 26 December 1865 when they signed a quitclaim deed to the family farm in Miami County over to a brother for $300. Mary died in 1872 and John then married 8 May 1873 Laura Mahala HOOVER, the daughter of Frederick and Deborah (Tucker) Hoover, who was born 20 January 1852 in Miami County. She was married previously to George Dunlap 22 August 1869 in Miami County. John and Laura divorced around 1882 and she later married James Newlin. Widowed by 1910, Laura died in 1938 in Howard County, Indiana at age 86. John married third Alice A. REEDER 3 October 1887 in Indiana. Alice was born in 1860 in Indiana, the daughter of Green Pryor and Tabitha (Childs) Reeder. She married first Elijah J. Redmon 9 November 1880 in Tipton County, Indiana, but was divorced by December 1881. The couple had a son Edice Claire Redmon 21 March 1881. Alice died 8 May 1918 in Hamilton County, Indiana at age 58, and was buried in Arcadia Cemetery.

Mayme was buried in Crown Point Cemetery. The couple had a son Richard Cashman, born 24 April 1911 and died 5 May 1997 in Venice, Sarasota County, Florida at age 86, who married Muriel SMITH; and a daughter Mary Jo, born circa 1919.

Morton was born 21 October 1885 in Indiana, the son of Ebin Albert and Ellen (Shivel) Albright, and died in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana 18 January 1949 at age 63. He was buried in Arcadia Cemetery. The couple had children Helen Alice, born 8 February 1908 and died 13 March 1989 at age 81 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, who married Homer Drexel RICH; John Keith, born 24 May 1910 and died 22 December 1973 in Florida at age 63, who married Alice GROVES; Kenneth Frederick, born 23 September 1914 and died 23 June 1934 in Hamilton County at age 19; Morton Kendall, born 28 October 1919 and died 5 November 1990 in Indiana at age 71; Mary M.; and Robert Eugene, born 22 February 1924 and died 28 February 2008 in Florida at age 84.

               184      ii.    Emma Ursula HUNT was born 11 March 1893 in Hamilton County, Indiana, and died 8 December 1949 in Elwood, Madison County, Indiana at age 56. She was buried 11 December 1949 in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton, Tipton County, Indiana. Emma married Walter Clifford OVERDORF 11 March 1911 in Hamilton County. Walter, the son of Samuel Ezra and Daisy F. (Jackson) Overdorf, was born 7 April 1892 in Tipton County, and died 9 May 1965 in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona at age 73. He was buried in Fairview Cemetery. The couple had children Clyde Ezra, born 13 July 1911 and died 10 February 1974 at age 62, who married Mary Dorothy MCLAUGHLIN in 1931; Fern Vernell, born 5 January 1913 and died 1 June 2004 at age 91, who married Herman Russell SWEET 14 May 1933; George Clifford, born 19 November 1914 and died 5 March 1988 in Lee County, Florida at age 73, who married Bernice Katherine MILLER 24 December 1933 and married Mabel Marie SAMUELS 15 January 1982; Velma Jean who married Garnet Edward THONTON 23 May 1941; and Richard Keith, born 20 December 1930 and died 18 April 1985 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana at age 54, who married Norma Sue JARVIS 24 September 1949.

               185      iii.    Blanche Fayzella HUNT was born 6 October 1900 in Jackson Township, Hamilton County, Indiana. She died in April 1979 in Indiana at age 78. Circa 1920 in Indiana Blanche married Ralph Wayne BASEY who was born 24 October 1893 in Indiana. He died in May 1982 in Hamilton County at age 88. The couple had a son Max and a daughter Martha Jane.

 

     61.  Elijah4 HUNT (Elijah3, Samuel2, Ralph1) was born in May 1844 in Darke County, Ohio. He died 11 April 1912 in Greenfield, Hancock County, Indiana at age 67, and was buried in Westland Friends Church Cemetery, Hancock County.

     Elijah married first Rachel E. CURRY 13 October 1864 in Hancock County. Born circa 1847 in that county, she was the daughter of James H. and Catherine (Brooks) Curry who were born in Virginia. It is likely that Rachel died between 1882 and 1887, probably in Hancock County. Elijah then married circa 1887 Mary V. [–?--] who was born in February 1846 in Indiana. She died 29 November 1902 in Hancock County and Elijah married third 20 February 1904 Sarah V. FINNEY, the daughter of James and Lucina (Bell) Finney, who was born in March 1859 in Indiana. Sarah married first John Carter Midlam 27 May 1874 in Darke County, Ohio. He was born in October 1851 in Ohio and the couple had children Perry Harley, born in March 1879 who married Minnie Bell; Grace, born in May 1882; John, born 24 August 1884 who married Verda May Roberts; and Chester Corden, born 16 March 1887. After Elijah's death Sarah married third Granville C. Helvie 1 May 1915 in Hancock County.

     Known children of Elijah4 HUNT and Rachel E. CURRY, all born in Blue River Township, Hancock County, Indiana, were as follows:

They had a son Ralph, born circa 1905; and a daughter Jeanette, born circa 1915, both in Hancock County. Charles was a blacksmith and operated his own shop.

     There were no known children of Elijah4 HUNT and Mary V. [--?--].

     100.  Isiah4 HUNT (Elijah Isaiah3, Isaiah2, Ralph1) was born 31 March 1848 in Warrick County, Indiana. He died of diabetes mellitus 28 December 1923 in Naylor, Ripley County, Missouri at age 75, and was buried 29 December 1923 in Naylor Memorial Cemetery.

     Circa 1868 Isiah married Martha Ann DIMMETT, the daughter of John B. and Elizabeth (Walker) Dimmett, who was born 15 March 1846 in Madison County, Kentucky. She died of chronic bronchitis and influenza 11 April 1919 in Naylor at age 73, and was buried 14 April 1919 in Naylor Memorial Cemetery.

     Known children of Isiah4 HUNT and Martha Ann DIMMETT were as follows:

               192       i.    John Elijah5 HUNT was born 29 September 1869 in Warrick County, Indiana, and married Sarah Angeline SALTSMAN there 18 February 1892. He died of chronic myocarditis 17 April 1936 in Thomas Township, Ripley County, Missouri at age 66, and was buried 18 April 1936 in Naylor Memorial Cemetery, Naylor, Ripley County. Sarah was born 9 February 1875 in Warrick County, Indiana, the daughter of Andrew J. and Mary Ann (Chaney) Saltsman. She died 1 January 1947 at age 71, and was buried in Naylor Memorial Cemetery. Their children were Hattie May, born 29 January 1896 and died in childbirth 14 January 1914 at age 17, who was buried in Naylor Cemetery; Jessie F., born in April 1898; William F., born circa 1906; and John Alvis, born 2 November 1909 and died 24 November 1911 at age 2, who was buried in Naylor Cemetery.

               193      ii.    Thomas Jackson HUNT was born 14 August 1873 in Warrick County, Indiana. He died 14 November 1943 in Kansas at age 70, and was buried in Hutchinson Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas. Circa 1902 Thomas married Addie Bell ROUNDTREE. She was born 7 April 1884 in Naylor, Ripley County, Missouri and was the daughter of Thomas Marion and Cynthia Ann (Hager) Roundtree. Addie died 19 July 1967 in Hutchinson, Kansas at age 83. The couple had children Pearl, born in 1905 and died 28 March 1990 at age 85, who married Noble Alonso BASS; Virgil Lee, born 19 December 1907 and died 4 August 1976 at age 68; Mae Cynthia, born 10 August 1912 and died 16 February 1987 at age 74; Cletis Bernard, born 28 June 1918 and died in May 1995 at age 76; Thomas Lora, born 17 April 1921 and died 17 February 2002 at age 80; and Ruby, born in 1925 and died 5 February 2007 at age 82.

               194      iii.    Marion HUNT was born circa 1876 in Warrick County, Indiana.

               195     iv.    Rufus HUNT was born 18 January 1878 in Warrick County, Indiana. He died of uremia 30 July 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri at age 62, and was buried 3 August 1940 in Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis. Rufus married Creeda SAPP circa 1917 in Missouri. She was born 4 May 1890 in Kentucky and died in July 1967 in St. Louis at age 77. The couple had a daughter Nellie, born circa 1919. Rufus was proprietor of a delicatessen at the time of his death, and a moulder in a foundry in 1920 and 1930.

               196      v.    Gurley Sylvester HUNT was born 3 March 1880 in Wayne County, Illinois. He died 18 December 1948 in Butler County, Missouri, at age 68, and was buried 21 December 1948 in Naylor Memorial Cemetery, Naylor, Ripley County, Missouri. Circa 1906 in Missouri Gurley married Ida M. [–?--] who was born circa 1890 in that state, and they had a daughter Stella M., born circa 1907 in Ripley County. The couple divorced some time before 1930 and Ida was enumerated in the federal census for that year in St. Louis in the household of daughter Stella M. Ray, age 22, married at age 17, with her son Bernard D. Ray, age 5. Ida's marital status was mistakenly given as widowed.

               197     vi.    Charles Alfred HUNT was born 28 February 1883 in Wayne County, Illinois. He died in October 1974 at age 91; last known residence Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri. Circa 1910 Charles married Stella A. [–?--] who was born circa 1889 in Indiana. In the 1920 federal census they were enumerated in River Rouge, Wayne County, Michigan with son Harold, age 8, born in Indiana. Charles was a shipping clerk at an auto plant. By the 1930 census they resided in St. Louis, Missouri where Charles worked as a landscape gardener. In addition to son Harold W., in the household were daughters Marjorie A. and Dorothy M., both born in Missouri.

               198    vii.    James Logan HUNT was born 8 September 1887 in Wayne County, Illinois and died of advanced heart disease 19 December 1946 in Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis County, Missouri at age 59. He was buried 23 December 1946 in Lake Charles Cemetery, Missouri. Circa 1921 James married Ila [–?--] who was born circa 1898 in Tennessee and they had a son Richard.

 

     101.  Marion McAndrew4 HUNT (Elijah Isaiah3, Isaiah2, Ralph1) was born 10 January 1852 in Warrick County, Indiana. He died 15 September 1914 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana at age 62, and was buried in Little Zion Cemetery, Tennyson, Warrick County.

     Marion, a farmer and a minister, married Anna Eliza CONNER 24 May 1872 in Warrick County. She was born 10 June 1856 in Indiana, and died in that state 9 April 1929. She was buried in Little Zion Cemetery.

               199       i.    Nancy Elizabeth5 HUNT was born 24 January 1873 and died 30 July 1961 in Indiana at age 88. She was buried in Little Zion Cemetery, Tennyson, Warrick County, Indiana. Nancy, also called Elizabeth, married circa 1889  in Warrick County John Henry MARTIN who was born 26 April 1867 in Indiana. He died 9 June 1936 in Indiana at age 69, and was buried in Little Zion Cemetery. The couple had children Ada, born 26 June 1890 and died 16 October 1958 at age 68, who married Frank HUNT; Lemuel Andrew, born 28 November 1893 and died 19 November 1961 at age 67; Mayme M., born 5 May 1898 and died 20 August 1973 at age 75; Eliza Loretta, born 16 June 1903 who married Ivan SIMPSON; Loran Alford, born 16 October 1907 and died 1 January 1997 at age 89 in Colorado, who married Beatrice Olive TAYLOR; Howard Francis, born 27 January 1910 and died 2 August 1965 at age 55; Arnold Russell, born 27 March 1913 and died 3 October 1984 at age 71; and Pauline, born 14 March 1916 and died 8 September 2001 at age 85, who married Norman MARSHALL.

               200      ii.    Hiram Milton HUNT was born 31 January 1875. He was married in February 1894 in Warrick County, Indiana to Kitty POWERS, the daughter of James and Paulina (Rhoads) Powers, who was born 20 April 1873 in Warrick County. The couple had a son Herman Rufus, born 1 December 1894; and a son James H., born in 1896 and died before 1900. Hiram and Kitty divorced circa 1901 and Kitty married 2 March 1902 in Warrick County John Vincent McNeely, who was born 4 August 1875 and died 6 August 1931 at age 56. Kitty and John had a daughter Paulina Olivia and a son Earl. Kitty died 27 August 1929 at age 56. Both she and John were buried in Lynville Cemetery, Lynville, Warrick County. Hiram settled in Illinois, marrying second Iva D. GRIMES 12 August 1905 in Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois. She was born in July 1884 in Wisconsin, and was the daughter of John and Anne (Baylor) Grimes. In the 1910 federal census the couple were in Kewanee, Henry County, Illinois with their daughter Olive, age 4. Hiram and Iva divorced between 1917 and 1920 and in the 1920 federal census Iva was enumerated as head of household with daughter Olive, working in a hotel and residing in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Hiram in that year was a lodger in Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois, working as a moulder in an iron works. In the 1930 federal census Hiram was enumerated as an attendant in the Peoria State Hospital in Peoria County, Illinois. That census gives his marital status as married, and gives his age at marriage as 47, which would seem to indicate that he married for a third time circa 1922. Hiram's and Kitty's son Herman died 28 May 1962 at age 67 in Laramie County, Wyoming.

               202     iv.    George Wesley HUNT was born 23 February 1886 and died 8 March 1962 at age 76 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana. He was buried in Little Zion Cemetery, Tennyson, Warrick County, Indiana. George married Oma Estella SIMPSON circa 1904 in Warrick County. Oma was born 22 July 1886 in Indiana, the daughter of Elijah and Mary E. (Tennyson) Simpson, and died 9 October 1971 in Evansville at age 85. She was buried in Little Zion Cemetery. George and Oma had a son Arlie W., born 11 May 1905 and died 16 March 1998 at age 92 in Evansville; and a daughter Thelma Marsella, born 24 March 1910 and died 13 February 1980 in Evansville at age 69 who married first Harley W. DAVIS and second [–?--] WALTER. Thelma was buried in Little Zion Cemetery and her headstone gives her date of birth as April 1910; however the Social Security Death Index gives the date entered here.

               203      v.    Ellis M. HUNT was born 25 June 1888 and died 16 May 1967 in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California at age 78. On 9 December 1916 in Vanderburgh County, Indiana he married Amelia J. WAGNER, the daughter of George and Minnie Wagner, who was born 22 March 1893 in Vanderburgh County, and died in May 1967 in South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana at age 74. Amelia was buried in Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty, St. Joseph County. The couple had a son Elmer E. and a daughter Elsie L.

               204     vi.    Martha Rebecca HUNT was born 25 September 1890 and married John David BARTON 22 March 1908 in Warrick County, Indiana. She died 19 December 1967 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana at age 77, and was buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Wadesville, Posey County, Indiana. John was born 7 February 1885 in Indiana, the son of George R. and Martha (Prince) Barton, and died 8 October 1968 in Evansville at age 83. He was buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The couple had children Harold C., born 7 July 1908 and died 25 October 1952 at age 44, who married Edna TATE; Helen; Hershel; Beulah Imogene, born 1 January 1921 and died 9 May 2002 at age 81 in Genesse County, Michigan, who married James William MCCORMICK; Raymond; and Charles.

               205    vii.    Ida Elvira HUNT was born 30 September 1892. She died 28 March 1923 in Warrick County, Indiana at age 30, and was buried in Twin Cemetery, Warrick County. Ida married Clarence Revis SIMPSON, the son of Henry James and Sarah Ann (Skelton) Simpson, 24 August 1910 in Warrick County. Revis, as he was known, was born 18 November 1889 in Indiana. He died 10 October 1966 in that state at age 76, and was buried in Twin Cemetery. Ida and Revis had children Gladys M.; James Gilbert, born 12 April 1916 and died 24 January 1994 at age 77; Hazel Edith, born 2 January 1918 and died in 1936 at age 18; Gared Revis, born 10 July 1920 and died 22 February 1945 in World War II at age 24; and Mabel E. After Ida died Revis married Lyda (Kelly) Spradley.

               206    viii.    Effie Louisa HUNT was born 22 February 1895, and died 17 March 1978 in Warrick County, Indiana at age 83. She was buried in Bethabara Cemetery, Folsomville, Warrick County. Effie married Theodore Luther AVERY 15 January 1911 in Warrick County. Theodore, the son of William G. and Julia M. (Eskridge) Avery, was born 8 March 1889 in Indiana, and died 12 February 1980 in Warrick County at age 90. He was buried in Bethabara Cemetery. They had a son Theodore Thelbert, born 21 August 1924 and died 18 January 1985 at age 60; and a daughter Leola.

               207     ix.    Wilburn Sylvester HUNT was born 29 September 1897 and married Dora SIMPSON circa 1917 in Indiana. He died in August 1966 in Elkhart County, Indiana at age 68, and was buried in Osceola Cemetery, Elkhart County, Indiana. Dora, the daughter of George Washington and Dorlesky (Lankford) Simpson, was born 23 March 1889 in Indiana. She died at age 85 on 7 April 1974 in Indiana, and was buried in Park Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana. Wilburn and Dora were in Kewanee, Henry County, Illinois in the 1920 federal census. Shortly after, they divorced and they both married a second time – he to Blanche Ilene GEORGET 31 October 1923, and she to Emmet J. Stone. Blanche was born 2 February 1898 in Indiana, and died in January 1978 at age 79. She was buried in Osceola Cemetery. Wilburn and Blanche had a daughter Delores J.

 

     102.  Elijah Madison4 HUNT (Elijah Isaiah3, Isaiah2, Ralph1) was born 15 February 1856 in Warrick County, Indiana. He died 14 September 1913 in Warrick County at age 57, and was buried in Little Zion Cemetery in that county.

     Elijah married 15 August 1856 in Warrick County Polina Jane STINSON, the daughter of Linsey and Jane (McNeely) Stinson, who was born 15 August 1856 in Warrick County. She died 23 June 1935 in Warrick County at age 78, and was buried in Little Zion Cemetery.

               208       i.    Charles R.5 HUNT was born 19 November 1874 and married in 1899 in Warrick County, Indiana Flora BROSHEARS who was born in January 1879 in Indiana. Charles died 2 September 1964 at age 89, likely in St. Louis, Missouri where he resided in the 1920 and 1930 censuses. The couple had a son Truman, born in February 1900 and died in December 1957 at age 57, who was buried in Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum in St. Louis; and a daughter Elizabeth 'Bessie', born circa 1910.

               209      ii.    Margaret Caroline HUNT was born circa 1878.

               210      iii.    Porter Albert HUNT was born 7 November 1881. He died 1 March 1958 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas at age 76, and was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, also known as Garden of Memories, Fort Worth. Porter married Nevia Alice LAMAR 16 April 1904 in Warrick County, Indiana. Nevia, the daughter of Alford and Sarah Elizabeth (Phillips) Lamar, was born 26 January 1887 in Warrick County. She died of a coronary occlusion 12 June 1959 in Fort Worth at age 72, and was buried 15 June 1959 in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Porter and Nevia had children Zona Edith, born 12 May 1906 in Evansville, Vanderburgh, Indiana and died in August 1994 at age 88 in Denton, Denton County, Texas, who married Clarence Reed CREAMER; Albert Eugene, born 25 September 1919 in Fort Worth and died 13 February 2000 in Tyler, Smith County, Texas at age 80; Noland J., born in 1922 and died at age 73 in 1995 in California; and Helen N.

               211     iv.    William Heilman HUNT was born 7 November 1882 and died 1 March 1975 in Indiana at age 92. Circa 1916 he married Emma Izora BARTON who was born in January 1898 in Skelton Township, Warrick County, Indiana, the daughter of George R. and Caroline (Tinny) Barton. Emma died in 1966 at age 68 in Indiana. Both William and Emma were buried in Little Zion Cemetery, Tennyson, Warrick County. The couple's children were Loye Roger, born 10 February 1917 and died 21 December 1975 at age 58 in Pennington County, Minnesota, who was buried in Little Zion Cemetery; son Ovel; Ella; and Zeda.

               212      v.    Martha Elizabeth HUNT was born 10 February 1885.

               213     vi.    Lucy Mae HUNT was born 6 March 1889. She died in November 1981 in Gibson County, Indiana at age 92, and was buried in Columbia Church Cemetery, Princeton, Gibson County. Lucy married coal miner Marion James BLACK 18 July 1906 in Warrick County, Indiana. Also known as James Marion, he was born 11 February 1886 in Indiana. He died in 1956 in Gibson County at age 70, and was buried in Columbia Church Cemetery. The couple had a daughter Genevia.

               214    vii.    Lourette Della HUNT was born 12 January 1892, and died 17 June 1950 in Indiana at age 58. She was buried in Sunset Cemetery, Winslow, Pike County, Indiana. Also known as Della, she married coal miner George Warner TISDALE 6 March 1909 in Indiana. Warner, as he was called,  was born 10 January 1888 in Patoka Township, Pike County, the son of Samuel W. and Mary E. Tisdale, and brother to Floyd who married Della's sister Emma (see #217 below) Warner died 25 June 1971 in Pike County at age 83, and was buried in Sunset Cemetery. The couple had a son Lavern, born 18 February 1910 and died in April 1974 at age 64 in Indiana; Harold, born 27 December 1911 and died in December 1972 at age 61 in Kentucky; and Esther, born circa 1914.

               215    viii.    Myrtle Eva HUNT was born 18 November 1894. She died 6 August 1935 in Indiana at age 40, and was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Boonville, Warrick County, Indiana. On 14 January 1912 in Warrick County, Myrtle married Perry Commodore MCCLARY, the son of Josiah and Schrilda (Condit) McClary, who was born 11 July 1893 in Warrick County. He died in 1935 in Indiana at age 42, and was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery. The couple had a daughter Fabian B., born circa 1921.

               216     ix.    John Newt HUNT was born 10 September 1897 and married Carrie Mae STRICKLAND circa 1923 in Texas. She was born 30 May 1905 in that state and died in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas 30 November 1971 at age 66. John and Carrie Mae were divorced between 1930 and 1936, and on 17 May 1937 he married in Texas Geneva MCCARTER. They divorced 14 June 1974. John died 13 November 1975 in Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas at age 78. John and Carrie had children John Ray, born 1 July 1924 and died 11 July 1998 at age 74, who married Janie Lee FISHER 6 June 1945; Dorothy Zane, born 20 July 1925 and died 11 February 2000 at age 74 in Hunt County, Texas; daughter Billie J.; and Robert M.

               217      x.    Emma Ethel HUNT was born 1 October 1899. She died 8 April 1977 in Princeton, Gibson County, Indiana at age 77, and was buried in IOOF Cemetery, Francisco, Gibson County. Circa 1916 Emma married Floyd L. TISDALE who was born 28 May 1896 in Indiana. He was the son of Samuel W. and Mary E. Tisdale and the brother of George Warner Tisdale who married Emma's sister Lourette (see #214 above). Floyd, a coal miner, died 4 May 1930 in Indiana at age 33, and was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Winslow, Pike County, Indiana. Emma married next James BASS in Gibson County. He was born in February 1899 in Warrick County, Indiana, the son of Benjamin and Mary Bass. James died 10 December 1954 in Indiana at age 55, and was buried in IOOF Cemetery.

 

     103.  Lazarius Milton Parriet4 HUNT (Elijah Isaiah3, Isaiah2, Ralph1), known as Parriet, was born 23 May 1858 in Warrick County, Indiana. He died 24 March 1958 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana at age 99, and was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Evansville.

     Parriet, a Baptist minister, married first 28 July 1881 in Warrick County Rachel EDWARDS. She was born in 1861 in Warrick County, the daughter of James R. Edwards, and died in 1888 in that county at age 27. Rachel was buried in Bethabara Cemetery, Folsomville, Warrick County. The couple had no children.

     Parriet married next Rhoda Agnes CRON  15 March 1891 in Indiana. She was born in October 1868 in that state, and died 15 September 1950 in Evansville at age 81. Rhoda was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery.

               219      ii.    Archie L. HUNT was born 24 December 1891. He died in May 1967 at age 75 in Missouri. His last residence was Centralia, Boone County, Missouri. Archie married Nora Fay VANDEVEER 14 October 1915 in Vanderburgh County, Indiana. Nora was born 17 February 1896 in Gibson County, Indiana, the daughter of Louis Bennett and Mary Ellen (Gwaltney) Vandeveer. She died 26 February 1975 in Missouri at age 79. The couple had children Mary A., daughter Olgie E.; and Lowell. Archie was a machinist.

               220      iii.    Sadie A. HUNT was born 20 August 1893 and died in July 1974 at age 80 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana. She married Ora Milas ROSBOROUGH 7 September 1916 in Vanderburgh County. He was born 5 June 1894 in Posey County, Indiana, the son of William and Lou Rosborough. Sadie and Ora had children Milas W., born 14 July 1917 and died 8 May 2000 at age 82; William M.; and Betty S.  Ora was a meat cutter in Evansville.

               221     iv.    Ariel W. HUNT was born 14 November 1894. He died in January 1984 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana at age 89, and was buried in Mount Olive Cemetery, Lynnville, Warrick County, Indiana. Ariel married circa 1918 Lillian 'Lillie' R. DILLBECK, the daughter of William and Lucy Dillbeck, who was born in 1901 in Warrick County and died in 1990 at age 89. She was buried in Mount Olive Cemetery. The couple had children Louis; Dorothy L.; and Ariel C., born 27 March 1925 and died 18 August 1985 at age 60, who was buried in Mount Olive Cemetery.

               222      v.    Charlotte E. HUNT, known as Lottie, was born in November 1897. She married Frank M. HAWES 11 February 1915 in Vanderburgh County, Indiana. Frank was born in March 1894 in Indiana. The couple had children Francis; George, Ora; and Alva.

 

     106.  Thomas W.4 PENNY (John F.3, Christiana2 Hunt, Ralph1) was born 28 September 1828 in Union Township, Miami County, Ohio, and died 2 March 1903 in Darke County, Ohio at age 74. He was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County.    

     On 5 April 1849 in Darke County Thomas married Mary Ann ADDINGTON, the daughter of James, Jr. and Elizabeth Addington, who was born 27 April 1818 in Indiana. Mary Ann was married first to William Graham 27 August 1835 in Darke County, and the couple had children Mary Catherine who married Isaac Haworth; Jane who married Harvey Hoover Jones; Sarah Ann who married Liberty S. Penny, Thomas' second cousin; and John William who married Rachel E. Ingle. Mary Ann died 15 October 1863 in Darke County, Ohio at age 45, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery.

     Thomas married second Margaret PEARSON 13 January 1864 in Darke County. Margaret was born 29 March 1836 and was the daughter of Abel Insco and Sarah (Coppock Waymire) Pearson. Margaret's sister Sarah married Thomas' brother Ralph (see #111 below). Her mother Sarah married first Henry Waymire and had a daughter Elizabeth who married Elisha Penny, Thomas' first cousin once removed. Margaret died 30 May 1887 in Darke County at age 51, and was buried in Potsdam Cemetery, Union Township, Miami County.

      Thomas married last Elizabeth BRIDENBAUGH 7 September 1889 in Darke County. Elizabeth was born 3 February 1838 in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. The daughter of Daniel and Catherine (Stulman) Bridenbaugh, she married first Bartholomew J. Arnett 21 October 1855 in Miami County and had 11 children, nine of whom were still living in 1900. Elizabeth married third Joseph Deavenport 29 November 1906 in Darke County. She died 14 November 1927 in West Milton, Miami County at age 89.

     107.  Emeline4 PENNY (John F.3, Christiana2 Hunt, Ralph1) was born 26 February 1832 in Union Township, Miami County, Ohio. She died 13 April 1899 in Le Grand, Marshall County, Iowa at age 67, and was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Le Grand.

     Emma married Oliver THOMPSON 24 November 1847 in Darke County. Oliver, the son of Richard and Abigail (Jay) Thompson, Jr., was born 27 December 1824 in Darke County, Ohio. He died 13 April 1900 in Le Grand, Iowa at age 75, and was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Emma, Oliver and family went to Marshall County, Iowa around 1868.

      In addition to the children listed below, Emeline may have had a daughter Susanna, born 17 September 1848, and a daughter Lavina, born 27 February 1865.

     108.  Francis A.4 PENNY (John F.3, Christiana2 Hunt, Ralph1) was born in December 1833 in Union Township, Miami County, Ohio.  He died 31 July 1901 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio at age 67.

     Francis and his son-in-law Jacob Buckingham were proprietors of Penny and Buckingham, Dry Good and Groceries, in Laura, Miami County.

     On 11 May 1855 in Darke County Francis married Sarah Jane HESS who was born 12 April 1836 in Ohio. She died of stomach cancer 9 October 1917 in Franklin Township, Darke County at age 81, and was buried 11 October 1917 in Newcomer Cemetery, Franklin Township. Sarah was the daughter of John and Sarah (Danner) Hess and sister to William Hess who married Christina Penny, Sarah's husband's sister (see #109 below).

     Known children of Francis A.4 PENNY and Sarah Jane HESS were as follows (last child listed out of birth order):

               241     iv.    Ellen A. PENNY was born circa 1867 in Darke County, Ohio. She died before 1900 and is likely the Ella Penny who married 4 September 1886 in Darke County John Edward FISTE, son of Samuel and Susan (Trybel) Fiste, who was born 24 December 1861 in Xenia, Greene County, Ohio, and died of cardio renal disease 1 June 1934 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 73. He was buried 4 June 1934 in Parish Cemetery, also known as Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, Montgomery County. The couple had a daughter Nellie F., born 20 August 1886 in  Darke County, according to the record of her marriage to William H. Steel, Jr., 6 January 1905 in Montgomery County. (This Nellie was a resident of the Montgomery County Children's Home in 1900, birthdate given as August 1887  and name enumerated as Nella F. Pheist)  William, Jr. was born 11 September 1881 in Ohio, and was the son of William H., Sr., and Nancy (Strausser) Steel who were married 12 December 1880 in Ross County, Ohio . It is very likely that their daughter and William, Jr.'s sister Nellie Steel, born in September 1884, became the second wife of John Edward Fiste, marrying him 13 July 1901 in Englewood, Montgomery County, and that another daughter Jessie J. Steel, born 3 December 1891, became his third wife circa 1907 in Montgomery County. Jessie died 11 April 1924 in Dayton at age 32 of an infected incomplete abortion, and was buried in Parish Cemetery. She and John had sons Ralph E., Floyd Orville, and Alfred H. John and Ella (Penny) Fiste's daughter Nellie Steele had children Carl Edward; Raymond A.; Dorothy I.; and Evelyn Loraine.

               243     vi.    Sophia E. PENNY, who was also known as Dolly, was born 25 July 1871 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio. She died 20 February 1908 in Darke County, Ohio at age 36, and was buried in Newcomer Cemetery, Franklin Township, Darke County. Sophia was survived by a daughter Lova, born 10 November 1897 in Darke County, who was the daughter of Arron Wogaman. After Sophia's death Lova lived with her grandparents Francis and Sarah Jane Penny in Franklin Township. Lova died 5 May 1921 at the Stillwater Sanatorium in Randolph Township, Montgomery County of pulmonary tuberculosis. She was buried in Greenville Cemetery, Darke County on 8 May 1921.

               244    vii.    Hiram R. PENNY was born 28 September 1875 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio. A barber, he died between 1900 and 1908.

               245    viii.    Henry PENNY was born 7 May 1858 in Ohio. He died 16 February 1860 in Ohio at age 1, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio.

 

     109.  Christina4 PENNY (John F.3, Christiana2 Hunt, Ralph1) was born 11 August 1836 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio. She died of hemiplegia 14 December 1911 in Monroe Township at age 75, and was buried in Warner Cemetery, Montgomery County, Ohio.

     On 11 May 1855 in Darke County Christina married William N. HESS who was born in October 1834 in Montgomery County. He died 13 October 1907 in Ohio at age 73, and was buried in Warner Cemetery. William was the son of John and Sarah (Danner) Hess, and his sister Sarah Jane married Christina's brother Francis  A. Penny (see #108 above). The Hess family lived near Painter Creek in Darke County where John was a farmer and helped build the first school there and taught music. Supposedly the Hesses settled in Painter Creek in 1841. John and son William contributed to the construction of the local church which was known as Painter Creek German Baptist Church.

     Known children of Christina4 PENNY and William N. HESS were as follows:

               247      ii.    Caroline HESS was born circa 1859 in Ohio and married Isaac WEAVER circa 1881, likely in Darke County, Ohio. The couple had one child, a daughter Maud Catherine, called Catherine, born 28 February 1882, who married John Edward CAULFIELD 24 April 1900 in Montgomery County, Ohio. Edward, as he was known, was born 27 June 1869 in Wayne Township, Montgomery County, the son of Timothy and Mary (Welsh) Caulfield. He died 28 February 1935 in Montgomery County at age 65, and was buried in Cavalry Cemetery, Kettering, Montgomery County. Catherine died 26 April 1980 at age 98, and was buried in Dayton Memorial Park, Dayton, Montgomery County. Edward and Catherine had a son Howard Vincent, born 23 June 1904 and died 22 October 1964 at age 60, who was buried in Dayton Memorial Park. Howard married Rachel Etoile SCHAEFFER.

               248      iii.    Amanda HESS was born in October 1860 in Darke County, Ohio, and married Charles S. NORWOOD 5 June 1898 in Darke County. He died before 1900 and she died 20 May 1902 at age 41.

               251     vi.    John William HESS was born 17 August 1868 in Ohio and died of a coronary embolism 11 April 1950 in Pitsburg, Darke County, Ohio at age 81. He was buried 13 April 1950 in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg, Darke County, Ohio.    John married Emma Elizabeth DITMER  14 September 1889 in Darke County. Emma was born 8 August 1868 in Ohio, the daughter of George and Caroline (Surber) Ditmer, and died of pulmonary tuberculosis 11 December 1919 in Pitsburg, Darke County at age 51. She was buried 13 December 1919 in Mote Cemetery. Between 1920 and 1930 John married second Sarah F. MCLAIN who was born in 1876 in Indiana and was married first circa 1901 to William McLain and had children William E., Donald C., Howard, Charlotte and Kenneth. Sarah died in Montgomery County 21 January 1961 at age 85.

 

     110.  Sarah Jane4 PENNY (John F.3, Christiana2 Hunt, Ralph1) was born circa 1841 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio.

     Sarah was mentioned in her mother's 1876 will as Sarah Jane Walker, interconnected with J. Walker.

     Known children of Sarah Jane4 PENNY include:

     111.  Ralph4 PENNY (John F.3, Christiana2 Hunt, Ralph1) was born 3 January 1844 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio. He died 4 November 1926 in Ohio at age 82, and was buried in Highland Cemetery, Union Township, Miami County, Ohio.

     On 12 October 1865 in Darke County Ralph married Sarah PEARSON who was born 26 February 1844 in Painter Creek in that county. She died 19 June 1906 in Miami County at age 62, and was buried in Highland Cemetery. Sarah was the daughter of Abel Insco and Sarah (Coppock Waymire) Pearson. Her sister Margaret married Thomas W. Penny, Ralph's brother (see #106 above). Sarah's mother Sarah was married first to Henry Waymire and had a daughter Elizabeth who married Elisha Penny, Ralph's first cousin once removed.

     Ralph married second Elizabeth E. HOLMES 8 February 1911. She was born in October 1842 in Ohio, the daughter of Thomas and Dorcus (Blue) Holmes, and married first Sylvester Seymour Boughton 7 July 1862 in Shelby County, Ohio. Sylvester was born 10 June 1837 in Ohio and died 27 May 1907 at age 69 in Shelby County. He was buried in Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, Shelby County. Elizabeth and Sylvester had sons William D. and Stanley H. Elizabeth died after 1920.

He died 19 August 1879 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio at age 44, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio. Mercer served in Co B, 8th Ohio Cavalry in the Civil War.

     On 5 December 1861 in Darke County Mercer married Lydia Elizabeth WILLIAMS who was born in May 1845 in Michigan. She died in 1913 in Miami County, Ohio at age 68, and was buried in Harris Creek Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County next to her son Joshua.

She was buried 20 February 1935 in Harris Creek Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County. Rose married 18 November 1894 in Darke County Ephraim W. KATHERMAN, a butcher, who was born circa 1875 in Ohio. He died 23 January 1961 in Miami County. Ephraim's grandparents were Jacob and Fiannah Gottschall of Pennsylvania and it was with them he was living in 1880. Rose and Ephraim had no children.

               263    viii.    Joshua PENNY was born 1 November 1877 in Painter Creek, Darke County, Ohio, and married Minnie ODA 9 April 1898 in Darke County. Minnie was born 15 March 1875 in that county, the daughter of John H. and Sophia Maria Friederike (Hacker) Oda. Joshua and Minnie divorced 25 December 1902 and she married second Peter Boehringer 3 June 1919. Minnie died 18 January 1951 in West Milton, Miami County, Ohio at age 75, and was buried in Highland Cemetery, Covington, in that county. Joshua married second 8 July 1904 in Blackford County, Indiana Nora B. ORNDORFF who was born 1 October 1882 in Ohio, the daughter of Jesse and Lucy (Robertson) Orndorff. Joshua died of exhaustion of acute mania at Dayton State Hospital 27 November 1910 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 33, and was buried 28 November 1910 next to his mother in Harris Creek Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County. After Joshua's death Nora married Henry T. Vannoy 18 May 1911 in Darke County. She died in 1968 in Miami County at age 86, and was buried in Harris Creek Cemetery.

 

     113.  Elizabeth4 PENNY (Henry3, Christiana2 Hunt, Ralph1), also known as Bethena, was born in 1836 in Ohio. She died 30 August 1886 in Ohio, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio.

     Elizabeth married Elias B. COATS 23 December 1860 in Miami County. He was born 18 June 1830 in Ohio and married first Mary C. Hackney 23 September 1852 in Montgomery County, Ohio. His daughter with Mary, Susan J. Coats, died 30 January 1853 age 29 days, and was buried in Greenville Creek Cemetery, Bradford, Miami County. Elias, a cooper, served in Co C, 110th Ohio Infantry in the Civil War. He died of heart disease 30 September 1909 in Bradford, Miami County, Ohio at age 79, and was buried 3 October 1909 in Harris Creek Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County.

She was the daughter of Mike and Susan (Moyer) Stump and was born 27 August 1854 in Ohio. Catherine had been married previously and had a daughter Della Francis in April 1893 who married John G. Martin 25 September 1909. Catherine died of acute lobar pneumonia 16 November 1918 in Bradford, Miami County at age 64, and was buried 19 November 1918 in Harris Creek Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County. Daniel  married Clara [--?--] circa 1921. He died of interstitial nephritis 1 April 1923 in Bradford at age 56, and was buried 4 April 1923 in Harris Creek Cemetery.

He died on 14 April 1910 in Clay Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, at age 71. He was buried on 16 April 1910 in Arlington Cemetery, Clay Township, Montgomery County, Ohio.

     He appeared on the census of 1870 in Van Buren Township, Darke County, Ohio,, with Julia Ann Whitehead, Cornelius Penney, William Penney, and Alice Penney also listed in the household. He appeared on the census of 1880 in Randolph Township, Montgomery County, Ohio,, with Julia Ann Whitehead, Cornelius Penney, William Penney, Alice Penney, Mollie Penney, and Ira Charleston Penney also listed in the household. He appeared on the census of 1900 in Clay Township, Montgomery County, Ohio,, with Julia Ann Whitehead and Ulysses S. Penney also listed in the household.

     Julia Ann WHITEHEAD was born on 30 July 1845 in Ohio. She died on 2 June 1923 in Clay Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, at age 77. She was buried on 5 June 1923 in Arlington Cemetery, Clay Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. She the daughter of David and Mary Ann (Wolf) Whitehead. He was buried 9 December 1910 in Verona Cemetery, Verona, Preble County. Their children, all born in Harrsison Township, Preble County, were George W., born in December 1888 and died 1 February 1889; Myrtle May, born 20 April 1890 and died 22 April 1985 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 95, who married Eli WALKER in August 1909; Harry Clyde, born 11 June 1892 and died in 1926 in Dayton at age 34; Ruth Edna, born 30 April 1896 and died 4 July 1994 in Montgomery County at age 98, who married first Blake Sumner SMITH circa 1915, and second Michael BRECHTEL; and Adolph Schwindt, born 27 September 1897 and died 5 December 1947 in Dayton at age 50, who married Mildred Melba WEIMER. After Jacob's death Alice married circa 1924 Patrick S. MCGRIFF who was born circa 1863 in Ohio. He married first 13 January 1882 in Preble County Laura Studebaker. Alice died of acute cardio dilatation 21 April 1933 at age 64, and was buried 24 April 1933 in Verona Cemetery as Alice M. Routzohn.

               273     iv.    Mollie PENNEY was born 22 February 1871 in Darke County, Ohio. She died 12 June 1943 in Clay Township, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 72, and was buried 14 June 1943 in Arlington Cemetery in Clay Township. Mollie married 10 January 1892 in Montgomery County Jesse HEISTAND, the son of Jesse and Mary A. Heistand, who was born in July 1869 in Palestine Township, Crawford County, Illinois. He died at age 91 in 1960 in Montgomery County, and was buried in Arlington Cemetery. The couple had two daughters: Florence, born in January 1895; and Ruth, born in May 1898, both in Clay Township.

     115.  Beverly W.4 PENNY (Henry3, Christiana2 Hunt, Ralph1) was born 18 August 1840 in Van Buren Township, Darke County, Ohio.  He died from his third attack of paralysis 3 September 1909 in Adams Township, Darke County at age 69, and was buried 5 September 1909 in Old Bradford Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County, Ohio.

     Beverly served in the Civil War, enlisting as a private in Company G, 44th Ohio Infantry 20 September 1861. He was transferred to Company G, Ohio 8th Cavalry 4 January 1864 and then mustered out 19 June 1865 at Camp Chase, Ohio.

     Beverly married first Hulda Ann REICHARD, the daughter of David and Flora (Williams) Reichard, 12 July 1865 in Darke County. She was born circa 1843 in Van Buren Township, Darke County, and died 13 November 1894 in Bradford, Miami County. Hulda was buried 15 November 1894 in Old Bradford Cemetery.

     Beverly married second Ellen R.  ROTEN 22 March 1900 in Montgomery County, Ohio. She was born 27 October 1840 in Highland County, Ohio, the daughter of Sylvester and Catherine Roten, and was married first 12 October 1876 in Warren County to William Vandyne. William, a blacksmith, was born circa 1825 in Ohio and died 30 March 1898 in Jefferson Township, Montgomery County. Ellen died 4 December 1923 in Greenfield, Highland County, Ohio at age 83, and was buried in Greenfield Cemetery 6 December 1923.

Alta married first 23 October 1902 in Miami County George MURRAY who was born circa 1877 in Coshocton County, Ohio, the son of John H. and Catherine (Byrkett) Murray. The couple divorced and she married 5 November 1914 James Gordon MILLER, a house carpenter, who was born circa 1885 in Ohio. Alta married third circa 1928 Raymond ROSS who was born circa 1896 in Ohio.

     There were no known children of Beverly W.4 PENNY and Ellen R. ROTEN.

 

     116.  Mary Ann4 PENNY (Henry3, Christiana2 Hunt, Ralph1) was born 8 August 1842 in Ohio, and died of organic heart disease 16 August 1915 in Bradford, Miami County, Ohio at age 73. She was buried 18 August 1915 in Harris Creek Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County, Ohio.

     Mary Ann married 4 October 1867 in Darke County William Nelson WEAVER, Sr., who was born circa 1838 in Ohio. He died before 1870. On 11 July 1872 in Darke County she married Elias STILES. He was born 25 January 1836 in that county, the son of Jacob and Sarah (Halsey) Stiles, and married first Esther Strader of Tennessee on 13 April 1861 in Darke County.  They had daughters Margettta, born circa 1862; Maryann, born circa 1863; Sarah E., born circa 1865; and Harriet E., born circa 1868. Elias died of an abcessed liver 7 January 1911 in Bradford, Miami County at age 74, and was buried 9 January 1911 in Harris Creek Cemetery.

The couple eventually divorced. Jack, as he was also known, died 15 May 1951 in Randolph Township, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 77, and was buried 19 May 1951 in Green Castle Cemetery, Dayton, Montgomery County. Glenna was born 5 September 1879 in Bradford, Miami County, Ohio, the daughter of Peter M. and Anna Catherine (Shefbuch) Thompson. She died 4 January 1963 at age 83 in Piqua, Miami County.

               287      ii.    Minnie STILES was born 6 May 1878 in Darke County, Ohio and died of a cerebral hemorrhage 3 September 1938 at age 60 in Bradford, Miami County, Ohio. She was buried 7 September 1938 in Harris Creek Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County. Minnie remained single until some time after 1930 when she married S. H. VANNOY. Her death certificate gave her name as Minnie E. Styles [sic] Vannoy.

                           iii.    Martha Jane STILES was born 12 September 1872, and died of a cerebral hemorrhage 19 October 1922 at age 50 in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio. She was buried 22 October 1922 in Harris Creek Cemetery, Newberry Township, Miami County. There are records proving two marriages for Martha, and there might possibly be a third marriage. It is known she had a daughter Neva Cannon born 5 November 1895 and that Neva's father, per her own 1910 marriage record, was named Ollie Cannon. However, no proof of Martha's marriage to Ollie has been located. Neva Cannon married Stanley MAYS, the son of Major and Lucy (Barton) Mays, 15 June 1910 in Miami County. He was born 22 October 1887 in Delaware County, Ohio, and died in 1953 at age 66. Neva died in 1951 at age 56. Both Neva and Stanley were buried in Forest Hill Union Cemetery, Piqua, Miami County. Martha had a son Percy J. born 1 May 1897 who was enumerated in the 1900 census as stepson Percy Styles [sic] in the household of Martha's husband Isaac KATHERMAN, who she married 13 February 1899 in Darke County, Ohio. By 1910 Percy was using the surname Katherman, and died 21 December 1963 in Indiana at age 66 with the name Percy J. Katherman. He was buried in Park Cemetery, Greenfield, Hancock County, Indiana. It is likely Percy was born out of wedlock. Isaac Katherman was born 28 August 1868 in Pennsylvania, and was the son of Conrad and Mary (Boyen) Katherman. He and Martha had daughters Glenna May, born 15 May 1902; and Gladys, born circa 1908. Glenna had a son Jack out of wedlock and was enumerated in the 1920 federal census in Bradford, Miami County, single, living with her newborn next door to her aunt Minnie Stiles. She married 27 November 1924 William L. SMITH in Miami County. William was born in 1901, the son of Sherman and Frances (White) Smith, and died 27 August 1981 at age 80. Glenna died 30 March 1977 at age 74. Both Glenna and William were buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City, Miami County. Martha's daughter Gladys Katherman, enumerated in the 1910 federal census as stepdaughter in the household of Martha and second husband Charles  BROWN, was married as Gladys Brown 18 January 1924 in Miami County to Paul A. STRICKER, the son of Grant and Diademia (Lowry) Stricker, who was born 19 September 1902 in Michigan. It is not known if Isaac Katherman died or if he and Martha divorced, but she married 11 January 1910 in Miami County Charles Aldis Brown, son of Elias and Elizabeth (Oaks) Brown, who was born 30 May 1867 in Darke County and had been married previously. Charles died of uremic poisoning 27 August 1933 at age 66 in Piqua, Miami County, and was buried in McLean Township Pioneer Cemetery, Fort Loramie, Shelby County, Ohio.

 

     119.  Susannah4 PENNY (Henry3, Christiana2 Hunt, Ralph1) was born 7 December 1848 in Ludlow Falls, Miami County, Ohio. She died 22 July 1905 in Bradford, Darke County Ohio, at age 56, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County.

     On 8 May 1868 in Painter Creek, Darke County, Susannah married William Jones ADDINGTON who was born 16 February 1844 in Hickory County, Missouri. William was raised by his grandfather James Addington in Missouri, but was the son of John F. and Sophia Addington. William's death certificate gives his mother's maiden name as Kinkard/Kirkard, but his father's marriage record shows he married Sophia Walker. After Susannah died William married Margaret Ann Seldomridge 17 January 1907 in Darke County. She was born 22 July 1947 in Greene County, Ohio, the daughter of George and Nancy Seldomridge, and married first Simon Boyer 30 July 1872. William died of interstitial nephritis 12 May 1911 in Bradford, Darke County, Ohio at age 67, and was buried 14 May 1911 in Old Ludlow Cemetery.

Clara married Charles HOFFMAN 10 September 1911 in Franklin County, Ohio. She was in his household as housekeeper in the 1910 federal census in Columbus, Franklin County. Charles was a widower with a son Wilbur, born in November 1893, and daughter Clara, born in May 1896. He was born 10 November 1869 in Marysville, Union County, Ohio, the son of George and Clara (Rice) Hoffman, and was married first  28 September 1892 in Franklin County to Alice Burkett who was born in March 1874 in Ohio. Charles died 10 March 1925 in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida at age 55, and was buried in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.

SMITH, the son of William and Mary E. (Starbuck) Smith, who was born 6 February 1881 in Wayne Township, Darke County, and died 24 July 1906 in Newberry Township, Miami County, Ohio, at age 25. He was buried in Greenmound Cemetery. Bertha married second Harry Robert SCHMIDLAPP 15 June 1915 in Miami County. He was born 3 June 1881 in Washington Township, Miami County, the son of Caleb Frederick and Mary Catharine (Roberts) Schmidlapp. Harry married first 27 November 1909 in Miami County Jennie Wharton, who was born 30 March 1885, the daughter of William and Barbara Ellen (Hipple) Wharton, and died in Loramie Township, Shelby County, Ohio 15 February 1913 of tuberculosis at age 27. She was buried 18 February 1913 in Forest Hill Union Cemetery, Piqua, Miami County.  Harry died 24 March 1944 in Piqua at age 62. He was buried 27 March 1944 in Forest Hill Union Cemetery. Bertha and Harry divorced and the name of Harry's wife and the informant on his death certificate was Anna S. Schmidlapp. Harry was a farmer in the 1920 federal census, then an engineer for Hartzel Company in 1930. At the time of his death he worked as an engineer for the Municipal Light Plant in Piqua.

               293     vi.    Henry Lawrence ADDINGTON was born 16 October 1882 in Bradford, Darke County, Ohio. He died 4 July 1919 in Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio at age 36 of a fractured skull and internal injuries from a railroad accident, and was buried 7 July 1919 in United Cemeteries, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Henry married Edith C. WOOLLEY 6 June 1909 in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio, and in the 1910 federal census they resided in Pittsburgh. Edith, the daughter of Job M. and Adaline Woolley, was born 29 January 1879 in Shelby County, Ohio. She married first Wilfred Lippincott 23 February 1897 in Sidney, Shelby County, and third Jack Miller. Edith died 22 September 1945 in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan at age 66, and was buried in Forest Hill Union Cemetery, Piqua, Miami County, Ohio.

SNYDER 16 June 1897 in Miami County, Ohio. Cyrus, the son of John H. and Sarah (Shidler) Snyder, was born in November 1876 in Troy, Miami County. In the 1880 census his surname is spelled Snider, and in the 1900 census his name is enumerated as Simon Schneider.  In the household in that census for Piqua, Miami County  was his widowed father-in-law Daniel Penny and stepdaughter Marie Schneider, born in October 1893 in Ohio. Her exact relationship to Martha is not known. Cyrus married second Mary Katherine Lewis 17 October 1908 in Montgomery County. The daughter of Henry and Mary (Klurger) Lewis, she was born 27 November 1871 and had been married twice previously. She died 7 February 1943 in Dayton at age 71 and was buried 10 February 1943 in Woodland Cemetery, Montgomery County. Cyrus died between 1910 and 1920 in Dayton.

               296      ii.    Jasper Freeman PENNY was born 28 September 1878. He died 19 April 1879 in Miami County, Ohio, and was buried in Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura, Miami County, Ohio.

 

     121.  Edward Shannon4 HUNT (Ralph3, Edward2, Ralph1) was born 8 December 1844 in Warren County, Ohio, and married Elizabeth Ann WILLIAMS, the daughter of Simeon B. and Cynthia Ellen (Ward) Williams, 5 September 1866 in that county. Edward, also called Shannon, served in Company A, 79th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War.  In 1870 he and his wife and family were enumerated in Union Township, Huntington County, Indiana. They went to Woodruff County, Arkansas in 1879 and established the town of Hunter, named for him. It was here he died 2 April 1923 at age 78. Edward was buried in Hunter Cemetery.

     Edward's wife Elizabeth was born 7 August 1844 in Fort Ancient, Warren County, Ohio. She died 6 December 1914 in Arkansas at age 70, and was buried in Hunter Cemetery.

               297       i.    William Sherman5 HUNT was born 9 January 1867 in Huntington County, Indiana. He died 1 September 1955 in Woodruff County, Arkansas at age 88, and was buried in Hunter Cemetery, Hunter, Woodruff County. William, also called Sherman, married Ira Arvilla CASKEY 24 October 1897 in Hunter. She was born 27 October 1879 in Shelby County, Ohio, and died 6 February 1960 in Montgomery County, Arkansas at age 80. Arvilla, as she was known, was buried in Hunter Cemetery. The couple had children Clint, born 10 September 1898 and died 15 June 1988 at age 89; Annie, born circa 1901; Clarence, born circa 1903; Edith, born circa 1905; Eugene, born circa 1907; Mildred, born circa 1914; and Ray, born circa 1916.

               298      ii.    Mary Hattie HUNT, called Hattie, was born 13 August 1871 in Huntington County, Indiana. She died 14 April 1959 in Woodruff County, Arkansas at age 87, and was buried in Hunter Cemetery, Hunter, Woodruff County. Hattie      married Seth B. WILSON 22 November 1888 in Hunter. He was born 13 April 1864 in Ohio, and died 24 Feb 1949 at age 84 in Hunter, and was buried in the cemetery there. The couple had a daughter Effie born in November 1889.

               299      iii.    Sylvester Coot HUNT was born 9 November 1875 in Huntington County, Indiana. He died 4 June 1956 in Brinkley, Monroe County, Arkansas at age 80, and was buried in Hunter Cemetery, Hunter, Woodruff County, Arkansas. Sylvester married circa 1897 Sally ALEXANDER who was born 5 October 1877 in Alabama and died 24 August 1961 in Arkansas at age 83. She was buried in Hunter Cemetery. The couple had sons Lester, born circa 1900; Chen, born circa 1901; Eldon, born 27 November 1903 and died 3 June 1993 at age 89 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee; a son born circa 1910; and Leon, born 30 November 1919 and died in October 1975 at age 55 in Memphis.

               300     iv.    Ella Zazella HUNT, called Zella, was born 15 March 1883 in Hunter, Woodruff County and died 30 January 1962 at age 78 in Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky. She married William Harrison COLLIER 24 May 1909 in Hunter, Woodruff County. William was born 23 August 1885 in Missouri, the son of George and Laura (Ripple) Collier, and died 8 March 1948 in Owensboro at age 62. The couple's known children were Sherman W., born circa 1912; Alene, born circa 1916; and Ferrell, born 27 June 1921 and died in February 1969 at age 47.

 

     123.  Alexander Smith4 HUNT (Ralph3, Edward2, Ralph1) was born 16 November 1848 in Warren County, Ohio and died 7 November 1934 in Tocsin, Wells County, Indiana at age 85. He was buried in Prairie View Cemetery in Tocsin.

     Alexander married 4 November 1873 in Huntington County, Indiana Rachel TRIPLETT who was born 27 March 1850 in Delaware County, Indiana. She died 22 April 1937 in Tocsin at age 87, and was buried in Prairie View Cemetery.

               301       i.    James L.5 HUNT was born 2 September 1874, and married Lida May RICHEY15 September 1901 in Wells County, Indiana. He died 15 January 1948 in Indiana at age 73, and was buried in Prairie View Cemetery, Tocsin, Wells County. Lida May was born in January 1870 in Wells County and was the daughter of Iven Richey. She died 29 April 1931 in Wells County at age 61, and was buried in Prairie View Cemetery. The couple had children Ralph, born 2 December 1901 and died 28 May 1985 at age 83, who was buried in Prairie View Cemetery; Raymond, born circa 1904; Violet Bay, born in 1905 and died 11 March 1986 at age 81, who was buried in Prairie View Cemetery; and May, born circa 1914.

               302      ii.    Oscar Ralph HUNT was born 29 July 1876. He died 5 April 1959 in Indiana at age 82, and was buried in Prairie View Cemetery, Tocsin, Wells County, Indiana. Oscar married Dessie Delphina NELSON circa 1900. She was born 22 April 1882 in Wells County, and died 11 June 1943 in Indiana at age 61. Dessie was buried in Prairie View Cemetery. The couple had children Zellie L., born circa 1904; Ethel L., born circa 1906; Hazel D., born circa 1908; Emery, born 28 July 1912 and died 20 July 1981 at age 68, who was buried in Prairie View Cemetery; twin Alma E., born in 1914; and twin Chalmer L., born in 1914 and died 25 August 1998 at age 84, who was buried in Prairie View Cemetery.

               303      iii.    Agnes Smith HUNT was born 24 July 1878 and died 1 February 1930 in Indiana at age 51. She was buried in Prairie View Cemetery, Tocsin, Wells County, Indiana. Circa 1898 in Wells County Agnes married Martin HECKLEY, Jr., the son of Martin, Sr. and Eliza Heckley, who was born 12 March 1876 in Indiana. He died 20 June 1952 in Indiana at age 76, was buried in Prairie View Cemetery. The couple had a daughter Emma E., born circa 1901 in Wells County.

               304     iv.    Bessie M. HUNT was born on 20 January 1881. She died 21 February 1881 in Wells County, Indiana.

               305      v.    Alexander E. HUNT was born on 27 August 1882 and married Mary Ethel CHERRY 12 April 1910 in Indiana. A public school teacher, he died 6 January 1948 at age 65 in Wells County. Mary Ethel was born 27 May 1885 in Indiana. She died 8 July 1973 at age 88. The couple had no children.

               306     vi.    Theodore Oman HUNT was born 15 September 1884. He died 1 April 1961 in Bluffton, Wells County, Indiana at age 76, and was buried in Prairie View Cemetery, Tocsin, Wells County. On 8 November 1911 in Wells County he married Eva Myrtle BOWMAN, the daughter of John and Eliza Jane (Archibold) Bowman, who was born 7 August 1889 in Wells County. She died 13 August 1966 in Bluffton at age 77, and was buried in Prairie View Cemetery. The couple had children Bernice Elizabeth, born 17 September 1912 and died 5 July 1977 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana at age 64, who married Paul E. FRANTZ 18 March 1944; Loran Wilmer, born 17 September 1915 and died 12 July 1995 in Bluffton at age 79, who married Oleta PADDOCK 3 July 1942; Harold Wayne, born 26 July 1922 and died 23 September 1989 in Bluffton at age 67, who married Dorothy WALTROUS; Gaylord Vernell, born 23 February 1925 and died 8 June 2009 at age 84, whose last residence was Auburndale, Polk County, Florida; and Roberta O.

               307    vii.    William John HUNT was born 23 September 1886. He died 1 May 1954 in Decatur, Adams County, Indiana at age 67. William married Lauretta THOMPSON 12 November 1913 in Wells County, Indiana. She was born 12 December 1890 in Allen County, Indiana, and died 23 October 1965 in Decatur at age 74. The couple had sons Byrl W., born 27 October 1914 and died 16 May 1997 in Decatur at age 82; Dale W., born 29 October 1916 and died 25 December 1997 in Decatur at age 81; and Keith, born 14 February 1919 and died in June 1971 at age 52

               308    viii.    Millie Clementine HUNT was born 25 August 1889 and married Clyde F. SCHERRER 29 November 1911 in Wells County, Indiana. She died 30 January 1978 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana at age 88, was buried in Concordia Gardens Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Clyde F. was born 29 March 1889 in Wells County, and died in 1944 in Allen County. He was buried in Poe Cemetery, Poe, Allen County. The couple had a son Delbert Jacob, born 11 March 1914 and died 24 October 2005 in Greenville, Greenville County, South Carolina at age 91; and a daughter Mary F., born circa 1918.
