George, a house carpenter, married Alma Iantha GUNTLE 15 June 1913 in Preble County. Alma, the daughter of Joseph and Emma Deloris (Reed) Guntle, was born 25 November 1893 in Preble County. She died 9 August 1958 at age 64 and was buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Both were buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Preble County. Martha and Chester, as he was known, had children Loretta Sue who married James Lewis CLEMMER; Nancy Ann who married John ‘Jack’ Swihart TURNER; Mary Louise who married Kay Doyle BUCKMASTER; Chesta Marie who married Ronald William GEISBERT; George Chester who married Julia WYNNE, Antoinette WILDER and Marlene Buschle NIEHAUS; and Karroll Lee who married Judith Lynn DANNHAUSER.
1101 ii. Mary Emma GILBERT was born 4 May 1916 in Preble County, Ohio. She died 12 October 1954 in Ohio at age 38.
Mary married Harry James STEVENS 13 November 1937. Harry was born 1 July 1915 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, and died 5 April 1980 at age 64. The couple, who had no children, were buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, Preble County.

Joseph Ezra GILBERT married first 6 November 1937 in Montgomery County, Ohio Eunice Marion SNODGRASS, daughter of Calvin and Louella Snodgrass, who was born 16 February 1917 in Montgomery County and died 5 January 1967 at age 49. She was buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, Preble County, Ohio. The couple had a daughter Alma Lou who married Edward KEMPER, Jr.; and a son John Ezra who married first Jean WARNER and second Anne DENBOW. Joseph married second Mrs. Audrey Shelton REEVES on 30 March 1968 in Preble County. She was the daughter of Frederick and Marjorie (Leonard) Shelton. 1103 iv. Sherman Blaine GILBERT was born 23 January 1920 in Preble County, Ohio and died 27 February 1976 in that county at age 56. He was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Preble County. On 21 October 1939 he married Mrs. Emma Lee MADEWELL, the daughter of Henry and Armanda Lee. She was born 12 October 1914 and died 15 October 1977 at age 63. The couple had no children.

Daniel Oscar GILBERT married first 1 August 1947 Dorothy Patricia WILSON, the daughter of Raymond and Edna (Sauers) Wilson, who was born 10 April 1921 in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana and died 13 January 1967at age 45. She was buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, Preble County, Ohio. Daniel and Patricia, as she was known, had daughters Janet who married Richard WACKERMAN and Donna who married James BLAIR. Daniel married second Carol Ann EUBANKS, the daughter of Lionel and Mildred (Holmes) Eubanks.
vi. Elizabeth Ann GILBERT married 2 September 1950 in Preble County, Ohio Robert L. BOWSER who was born 9 October 1926 in Montgomery County, Ohio, and died in 1993 at age 67. He was the son of Harlen and Zelma (Bowman) Bowser. Their children were Catherine who married first Kevin Richard WIKLE and second Richard GADE; Michael; and David.
757. Nettie Forence6 FULLER (Margaret Elizabeth5 Weddle, Mahala4 Gilbert, Isaac3, Jeremiah2, Thomas1) was born in May 1874 in Shelby County, Ohio. She died 13 August 1906 in Miami County, Ohio at age 32, and was buried 14 August 1906 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Miami County.
Nettie married John Clarence VANCE, son of James Henry and Mary Jane (Sapp) Vance, 30 June 1895 in Miami County. John was born 25 December 1859 in Jefferson Township, Logan County, Ohio, and died 3 July 1943 in Butler Township, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 83. He was buried 5 July 1943 in Forest Hill Cemetery.
John was married first 30 November 1880 in Springhills, Champaign County, Ohio to Emaline Julian who had been married previously to Samuel S. Chapman. Emaline was born in January 1861 in Ohio and died at age 32 on 9 October 1893 in Miami County. She was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery. He died 10 February 1917 in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio at age 38, and was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Miami County. William was a butcher and a driver for a grocery in Piqua.
William married Blanche L. SUPINGER 30 October 1905 in Miami County, Ohio. She was born 14 February 1886 in Ohio, the daughter of Alexander Randolph and Elizabeth (Mendenhall) Supinger who resided in Patterson Township, Darke County, Ohio in 1900. She died 21 April 1977 in Troy, Miami County at age 91. After William died Blanche married 9 June 1917 George Louis Fuller in Miami County. George’s relationship to William, if any, is unknown. He was born 27 February 1885 and had been married first around 1900 to Grace E. Karnes/Karns and had six children. George died 17 June 1951 at age 66 in Piqua, and was buried 20 June 1951 in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Leo married 1 June 1929 Florence Alice ASH who was born 1 June 1912 in Sidney, Shelby County, Ohio, the daughter of Millard and Mary (Stump) Ash. They had a daughter Lela J. born in 1920. Leo was a house painter.
1113 ii. Vesta M. E. FULLER was born 1 January 1907 and died in 1951 at age 44 in Ohio. She was buried in Highland Cemetery, Covington, Miami County, Ohio. On 5 October 1925 in Miami County she married George Raymond KISER who was born 2 November 1900, the son of Ray and Viola (Buck) Kiser, and died in Ohio 10 August 1975 at age 74. He was buried in Highland Cemetery.

On 28 October 1908 in Miami County he married Bessie Estella BRUMBAUGH, the daughter of Emanuel and Malinda (Blackmore) Brumbaugh, who was born in March 1884 in Miami County. She died 4 October 1970 in Troy, Miami County at age 86 and was buried in Riverside Cemetery.

LAUGHMAN who was born 1 September 1913 in Miami County and died 22 January 2003 at age 89. Harry married Effie Elizabeth SUMMERS 29 September 1908 in Ellerton, Frederick County, Maryland. Effie was born 11 April 1893 in Frederick County, the daughter of Hezekiah and Annie R. Summers. She died 1 September 1973 in Maryland at age 80, and was buried in Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

They had a son James Edward born 23 June 1927 and died 12 January 1995 in Georgia at age 67 who married first Marie Hazel FAULDERS, second Patricia SUMMERS and third Martha Jeanne MANNING; and a daughter Evelyn Elizabeth born 4 November 1929 and died 30 October 2004 at age 74 who married Walter Samuel BIDLE II. Beulah married second Paul KEPHART 20 October 1952 and they divorced. She died 21 May 1992 in Frederick County, Maryland at age 81.

Helen and Charles had children Alice Irene who married Robert Clyde SMITH; Charles Austin ‘Audy’, born 16 November 1932 and died 1 September 1950 at age 17 in Korea; Marvin Oscar who married Elizabeth Oland HAWKINS; Nadine Rae who married Benjamin Samuel RUNKLES; Patricia Ann who married Robert Franklin MCGAHA; Linda Gene; and Noreen Dale who married Charles Edward ARVIN.

HARTZELL 11 November 1939 in Montgomery County. She was born 21 December 1919 in that county, the daughter of Paul and Ruth Hartzell, and died 28 November 1990 at age 70. Lois was buried in Bear Creek Cemetery. They had children Rebecca Ann who married Ronald STOUT and John Ray who married Barbara Eileen TULLY.

Olive married Lester Frank MARSHALL 4 March 1915 in Washington County. Lester was born 6 June 1895 in Maryland and died 30 October 1962 in Maryland at age 67. He was buried in Mount Lena Cemetery. He was also known as Frank L. per the 1930 census.

She married Ross Elias ROUTZAHN 31 May 1932. He was born 25 May 1914 in Maryland and died in that state in August 1977 at age 63. They had a daughter Janice Elizabeth who married Paul Jacob Gearhart HUMMER; and a son Robert Eugene who married Fay Elizabeth ROYER.
1145 ii. Frances Geraldine MARSHALL was born 6 May 1918 and died 12 November 1993 at age 75. She married John L. SHAFFER who was born 2 September 1915 and died in July 1982 at age 66. They had sons Charles Lester and Fred Elwood.

Mary married 25 January 1947 Thomas Arthur SHEPLEY, the son of Edgar Martin and Lula Irene (Marker) Shepley, who was born 25 July 1920 and died in January 1984 at age 63. They had children Thomas, Molly Elizabeth and Timothy Allen.

929. Harvey Henry Nelson Tilden6 HARSHMAN (James Samson5, Samson J.4, Rhoda3 Gilbert, Jeremiah2, Thomas1) was born 5 February 1877 in Seneca County, Ohio. He died in 1955 in Jay County, Indiana at age 78.
Harvey served in the Ohio National Guard during the Spanish-American War. He was an orator and once ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. House of Representatives. Harvey was a glassworker and for several years was the international representative for the American Flint Glassworkers.
Harvey married Katherine Porter FAULKNER 2 July 1904 in Dunkirk, Jay County. Katherine was born in 1881 in Dunkirk, the daughter of James Monroe and Martha (Robeson) Faulkner. She died in 1925 at age 44.

Josephine was born 16 March 1908 in Dunkirk, and died 17 November 1998 in Indiana at age 90. She was the daughter of Leon Giambetta and Olive Rose (St. John) Barbier. Robert and Josephine had a daughter Eleanor Jo who married William Edward REIFSTECK; and a son Robert Lee who married Donna Eugenia GIBSON.
1150 ii. Arthur Lincoln HARSHMAN was born 29 December 1909 and died in Arizona in October 1980 at age 70. He was a glass designer/painter with works exhibited in the Library of Congress and other museums. Arthur was a Life Fellow of the Institute of Arts and Letters. He married Geraldine Olive BUCKLES 3 September 1937 in Bryant, Jay County, Indiana. Geraldine, the daughter of Harry Ross and Mary Emily (Smith) Buckles, was born 11 March 1915 in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan. They had a son Arthur Lincoln, Jr., who received a PhD in Art History from the University of Chicago.
1151 iii. Jed Clark HARSHMAN was born 29 June 1912 and died 30 June 2004 in Pennsylvania at age 92. His name in the 1930 federal census was given as Jedediah. He graduated from Ball State University and was a tax accountant. Jed married Mary Evelyn HUFFMAN 24 December 1942 in Jay County, Indiana. Mary was born 29 May 1918 in Eaton, Preble County, Ohio, and died in November 1970 at age 52. She was the daughter of Harold Wise and Susan Miriam (Racer) Huffman. Jed and Mary had children Mary Susan who married Donald Roy PIEFER; Janet Elaine who married Steven L. LEVINSTEIN; and Kathryn Ann.
1152 iv. Genevieve Margaret HARSHMAN was born 9 April 1915. She died 12 May 2001 in North Carolina at age 86. Genevieve married Thomas Giles STRAGAND 22 June 1940 in Jay County, Indiana. Thomas, the son of George and Marie (Iman) Stragand, was born 20 September 1916 in Dunkirk, Jay County, and died 18 June 1981 at age 64. Their children were Gretchen Ann who married Richard Louis PARKER; Thomas Giles, Jr.; and Sally Jane.
1153 v. Katheryn Jane HARSHMAN was born 13 March 1918 and died 29 May 2008 at age 90 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. She married Robert Smith GREEN 25 December 1939 in Jay County, Indiana. Robert was assistant dean of the department of engineering at The Ohio State University. The couple had a daughter Kathryn Anne.

He died 6 August 1990 in Troy, Miami County at age 93, and was buried 9 August 1990 in Curtis Cemetery, Union Township, Miami County. Curtis was a farmer and in his elder years was employed by Miller Brothers in Frederick, Miami County.
He married Lyda PENNY, daughter of Sylvester Henry and Martha Elizabeth (Lamsdale) Penny, 2 March 1918 in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. Lyda was born 10 April 1896 in Newton Township, Miami County. As recorded in county birth records her name was written as Lydima. Her death certificate has Lyda, with no middle name. She died 14 July 1965 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio at age 69, and was buried 17 July 1965 in Curtis Cemetery.

Carl married Charlotte Emma LEHWALD, the daughter of Paul and Glenna Eleanor (Berg) Lehwald, 3 July 1942 in Dayton, Montgomery County. Charlotte was born 3 February 1922 in Dayton and died 3 December 2003 at age 81 in Miami County. She was buried 8 December 2003 in Polk Grove Cemetery. They had daughters Kathleen Sharon and Carol Jean.
1161 ii. Earl Henry VANCE, known as Bud, married Evelyn SWADNER 18 October 1941 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Evelyn was born 19 September 1921 in Dayton, the daughter of Roy Lesher and Clara May (Tingle) Swadner. Her brother Harold married her husband’s sister Mary Vance. (see #1166 below) She died in Florida 1 June 2006 at age 84. Bud and Evelyn had children Terry Lee, Roy Curtis and Judith Ann.
1162 iii. John Clarence VANCE was born 25 September 1922 in Butler Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. He died in an automobile accident 24 July 1947 in Dayton, Montgomery County at age 24, and was buried 27 July 1947 in Curtis Cemetery, Union Township, Miami County, Ohio.
1163 iv. Pauline Lucille VANCE married Harold Edgar BAREFOOT and they had a daughter Rebecca Jean. The couple divorced in 1976.
1164 v. Dorothy Marie VANCE married Herbert Franklin RHOADES 26 April 1947 in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana. Dusty, as he was known, was born 31 July 1919 in Liberty, Preble County, Ohio, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Lang) Rhoades, and died 24 February 1983 at age 63 in West Milton, Miami County, Ohio. He was buried 28 February 1983 in Arlington Cemetery, Brookville, Montgomery County, Ohio. Dorothy and Dusty had a daughter Linda Marie and a son Steven Michael.

Robert Eugene VANCE married Margaret Lucille MILLER 24 April 1954 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, Margaret, the daughter of Charles Haines and Marie (Good) Miller, was born 29 December 1933 in Dayton, and died 5 December 2002 in Miami County, Ohio at age 68. They had a son Martin Eugene.
1166 vii. Mary Elizabeth VANCE married Harold Lockwood SWADNER 24 April 1981 in Urbana, Champaign County, Ohio.
Harold was born 30 May 1919 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, and died 7 May 2006 at age 86. He was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dayton. Harold was the son of Roy Lesher and Clara May (Tingle) Swadner. His sister Evelyn married Mary’s brother Earl Vance. (see #1161 above) Harold was married first 13 December 1941 in Dayton to Mary Jane Myers. She died 27 June 1971. Harold and Mary Jane had one son, Sam, born 11 September 1942 in Dayton and died 9 November 1944 at age 2. Harold then married second Phyllis Clark 17 November 1973 in Dayton. They divorced in December 1975.
1167 viii. Victor Norman VANCE married Georgia Alberta LOVETT. They had daughters Vicki Jean and Rita Marie, and adopted a son Gordon Lee Vance, the biological son of Victor’s brother Donald Lee.
1168 ix. Donald Lee VANCE was born 1 September 1934 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio and died 17 January 2005 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio at age 70. He married Mary Francis WALTERS 1 June 1957 in Tipp City, Miami County, Ohio, and they had children Jeffrey, Gordon Lee, Toni and Lisa. Donald and Mary divorced and he married second Evangeline BEATTY. They had a daughter Terry. Donald and Evangeline divorced in 1974.
1169 x. Curtis VANCE, Jr., married Mildred M. KRYMAN 16 September 1960 in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida and they had children Lori Ann, Curtis III, and Jennifer Jo. Mildred was born 11 July 1939 in Rochester, New York, the daughter of William Frederick and Mildred Marie (Castner) Kryman, and married first Charles Dean. They had a daughter Caroline Ramona. Curtis and Mildred divorced in May 1980 and she married third Carl Lacey 2 July 1990. Mildred died 18 July 2003 in Miami County, Ohio at age 64. Curtis, Jr., married second Maria Antonia CACCIATORE.
1170 xi. Dean Richard VANCE married Shirley Alice PRICE. They had children John Richard and Julie Renee.
1171 xii. Patricia Irene VANCE married Dale NORTH. He was born 21 May 1934 in Latrobe, Athens County, Ohio, the son of Andrew Jackson and Mary Ellen (Hill) North. He died 13 March 2001 in Miami County, Ohio at age 66, and was buried 16 March 2001 in Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Miami County. Patricia and Dale had children Pamela Sue, Jerry Lynn, Angela Kay and Rachel Ann.
1109. James Henry7 VANCE (Nettie F.6 Fuller, Margaret Elizabeth5 Weddle, Mahala4 Gilbert, Isaac3, Jeremiah2, Thomas1) was born 19 March 1898 in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio. He died 15 February 1966 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 67, and was buried 17 February 1966 in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton, Miami County. Jim worked for Frigidaire in the household engineering division and retired in 1959.
Jim married Helen F. GEBHART 17 June 1919. Helen was born 24 November 1900 in Dayton, the daughter of Dovillo and Elizabeth H. Gebhart. She died 25 February 1968 in Montgomery County at age 67, and was buried 28 February 1968 in Riverside Cemetery.

1172 i. Dovillo James VANCE was born 8 January 1921 and died in October 2002 in Missouri at age 81. He was buried in Protem, Taney County, Missouri. Dovey, as he was called, married Esther Dorothy EBERHARD 20 February 1964. She was born 22 December 1919 in Red Willow County, Nebraska. They had children Lee James, Gerald Alan, and Dennis Roger.
1173 ii. Marian Arlene VANCE was born 8 July 1923 and died 29 December 1996 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 73. She was buried 3 January 1997 in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton, Miami County, Ohio. Marian married John Martin BURKE, the son of Alfred and Florence Burke, on 5 November 1944. He was born 25 December 1924 in Arcanum, Darke County, Ohio, and died at age 72 on 25 December 1996 in Dayton. John was buried 28 December 1996 in Riverside Cemetery. They had children Larry Gene, who died before 1996; Michael Quenton; and Mary Helen.
1174 iii. Edna Marie VANCE was born 23 October 1925 and died 21 February 1992 in West Milton, Miami County, Ohio at age 66. She was buried 25 February 1992 in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton. Edna married Wilbur R. MINKNER 18 May 1946. They had children Bruce Wilbur, Josette M., and Douglas W.
1175 iv. Anna Elizabeth VANCE was born 11 July 1927 and died 4 July 2000 in Montgomery County, Ohio at age 72. She was buried in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton, Miami County, Ohio. Anna married Jerome MEICHER who was born 29 February 1920 in Prairie du Sac Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin, the son of William and Seraphine Meicher. He died in January 1984 at age 63, and was buried in Riverside Cemetery. Anna and Jerome had a daughter Christina Gayle.
1176 v. Paul Lynn VANCE was born 17 May 1930 and died 22 September 1997 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 67. He was buried 26 September 1997 in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton, Miami County, Ohio. Paul married first Marilyn Juanita PFEIFFER and they had a daughter Cheryl Diane. He married second Mary Ann NISWONGER and they had children Joyce, Alan and Kelly.
1177 vi. Dale Raymond VANCE was born 2 February 1932 and died 26 February 2006 at age 74. He married first Barbara May GEMIN in Oahu, Hawaii and they had children Terry, Debbie and Janet. Barbara was born 5 July 1935 and died 20 June 2004 at age 68. Dale also married Mary Ellen MINKNER.
1110. Elsie Jane7 VANCE (Nettie F.6 Fuller, Margaret Elizabeth5 Weddle, Mahala4 Gilbert, Isaac3, Jeremiah2, Thomas1) was born 4 February 1900 in West Virginia. Her death certificate gives 1901 as the year of her birth, however she was in the 1900 federal census. It also states incorrectly that her father's name was James Vance, not John Clarence. Elsie died 23 January 1972 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at age 71, and was buried 27 January 1972 in Highland Cemetery, West Milton, Miami County, Ohio.
Elsie married Gainor Jennings WEAVER 24 May 1922 in Ohio. Gainor was born 12 May 1896 in Union Township, Miami County, the son of Jacob O. and Emma A. (Shelly) Weaver. He died in 1960 in Ohio at age 64, and was buried in Highland Cemetery. Gainor was a punch press operator, according to the 1930 census.

1178 i. Kenneth Lee8 WEAVER was born 22 September 1922 in Montgomery County, Ohio and died 30 July 1975 at age 52 in Dayton, Montgomery County. He married Martha Lee MARTIN and their children were Sharon, Brenda, Carol, Kevin, and Jimmy.
1111. Edna Marie7 VANCE (Nettie F.6 Fuller, Margaret Elizabeth5 Weddle, Mahala4 Gilbert, Isaac3, Jeremiah2, Thomas1) was born 15 July 1901 in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage one hour after the birth of a son 11 November 1923 in West Milton, Miami County, Ohio at age 22. Edna was buried 14 November 1923 in Curtis Cemetery, Union Township, Miami County.
Edna married Frank P. APPLEGATE 31 January 1918 in Miami County. Frank, the son of Stephen and Emma (Kessler) Applegate, was born 9 June 1897 in Ohio, and died 19 February 1965 in Montgomery County, Ohio at age 67. He was buried 23 February 1965 in Bear Creek Cemetery, Montgomery County. Frank was an employee of City Transit Company in Dayton for 32 years. After Edna’s death he married Pauline D. [--?--] who was born 15 December 1907 and died in May 1987 at age 79. Frank and Pauline had children Rowena, James, Galen Oaks, Richard, and Delores.

1179 i. Glenn M.8 APPLEGATE was born 16 September 1919 and died 13 September 1992 in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida at age 72. He was buried 22 September 1992 in Minnich Cemetery, Union, Montgomery County, Ohio. Glenn married Sidney [--?--] circa 1943 in Ohio. A lifelong resident of Union, Montgomery County, Glenn moved to Florida in 1983 after 35 years of public service with the City of Union as police chief, town marshall, director of public services and eight years as mayor. He and his wife had children Glenn M., Jr., John P., and Verona.
1180 ii. Leroy E. APPLEGATE was born in 1922 and died in 1927 at age 5 in Miami County, Ohio. He was buried in Curtis Cemetery, Union Township, Miami County.
1181 iii. Virgil E. APPLEGATE was born 11 November 1923. He died 16 November 1923 in Miami County, Ohio, and was buried in Curtis Cemetery, Union Township, Miami County.
